Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: The Seal

The embers of the flames drifted in front of the fissure. The bones of the black shadow wolf had already turned to dust, but the oppressive feeling in the air still lingered. The fissure was like the gaping maw of a giant beast, silently waiting for the footsteps of the invaders.

Kale wiped his long sword. There were still faint embers of the black shadow wolf remaining on the blade. Each wisp of ash seemed to exude a cold chill, making his hand tingle slightly.

Cangzhua growled in a low voice, his pupils shrinking as he stared into the depths of the fissure. "Kale, I can sense... the aura inside is even more terrifying than that of the black shadow wolf."

Yize leaned against a stone stele beside the fissure, took out an old silver coin, and twirled it gently between his fingers. His expression was calm. "The abyss doesn't just hide shadow envoys. There are also things more ancient than the black shadow wolf buried there."

Kale frowned. "You've always known the secrets inside the fissure, haven't you?"

Yize shrugged and raised the corners of his mouth, giving a flippant smile. "I do know some things. But to be honest, I've never set foot in the true depths of this fissure either."

Kale snorted and didn't continue to ask. He knew very well that someone like Yize would never tell everything.

The wolf pack paced back and forth in front of the fissure, looking restless.

Just as everyone was about to enter the fissure, a faint sound of footsteps came from behind, accompanied by a familiar fragrance.

"It seems I've come just in time."

The group turned around and saw a woman wearing a dark red cloak walking slowly over. Her hood covered her face, but her steps were light and graceful, like an elf walking in the night.

Cangzhua immediately entered a defensive stance and growled, "Who is this person?"

Kale narrowed his eyes and stared at the newcomer for a moment. Suddenly, he released his grip on the sword, and his tone was a bit complicated. "…Dailin, why are you here?"

The woman lifted her hood, revealing a delicate and cold beauty. Her emerald green eyes sparkled with a dangerous light. "You have a really bad memory, Kale. When you left Wolf Soul Town before, you owed me a favor."

Yize whistled and teased, "Oh? I didn't expect you to have such an old friend."

Kale glanced at Yize and ignored his teasing. Instead, he looked at Dailin. "It's not suitable for me to take you with me now. It's very dangerous inside the fissure."

Dailin walked up to him and gently patted Kale's shoulder. "You should know that I hate being protected the most."

Cangzhua looked at Dailin nervously and lowered his voice. "Kale, there's a strange aura about this woman. She's not an ordinary person."

Kale didn't answer. Obviously, he had long been aware of Dailin's identity.

Dailin had once been a member of the mysterious mercenary group in Wolf Soul Town. She was proficient in ancient blood curse techniques and was good at tracking and assassination. Her identity was complex, and her style of doing things was ruthless and decisive. She was a well-known figure in the black market of Wolf Soul Town.

"Since you're here, let's go together." Kale finally relented, knowing in his heart that more people meant more strength, and the shadow envoy in the depths of the fissure would definitely not be an easy enemy to deal with.

The group stepped into the fissure, and the darkness immediately engulfed them.

After entering the fissure, the scene around them made everyone involuntarily hold their breath.

This was not really the underground in the true sense, but an independent space. Countless huge stone pillars stood all around. The stone pillars were engraved with ancient wolf clan runes, and each rune faintly emitted a blood-red light.

There was no sound inside the fissure. Only wolf shadows that kept emerging around them wandered in the darkness. Those wolf shadows seemed to be the remaining illusions of wolf souls. Their eyes were empty and sad, and they walked slowly among the stone pillars as if they were guarding something.

"This place... is like a graveyard." Yize said in a low voice, his tone uncharacteristically tinged with a hint of fear.

Dailin observed her surroundings and reached out her finger to touch a stone pillar lightly. "This is the ancient tomb of the Wolf Soul Clan. These runes... are seals."

"Seals?" Kale turned to look at her.

Dailin nodded. "Something extremely dangerous was once sealed here. It should be a protective measure left by the ancestors of the Wolf Soul Clan after the power of the abyss leaked."

Just as they were talking, a deep growl suddenly came from the darkness ahead.

A huge figure slowly emerged from the darkness. It had the form of a wolf, but its body was almost condensed from black flames. Two curved horns grew on its head, and its eyes burned like blood-colored lanterns in the darkness.

"Shadow envoy..." Kale murmured in a low voice and tightened his grip on the long sword.

Yize frowned. "No, this guy is stronger than a shadow envoy. It has completely become abyssalized."

Dailin raised her head slightly and gave a cold smile. "No matter what it is, it's just an obstacle in our way."

As soon as she finished speaking, blood-red runes appeared on her hands, and a dark red long sword slowly condensed in her palm. The runes on the sword body were wriggling, flashing an eerie light.

"I'll test its strength first." Dailin suddenly leaped up, and the blood curse sword slashed through

the darkness, stabbing straight at the wolf shadow.

The black flame wolf shadow growled and opened its huge mouth, spitting out billowing black flames. The black flames collided with the blood sword in the air, erupting with a deafening roar, and the entire interior of the fissure trembled.

Under Kale's instruction, the wolf pack slowly spread out and surrounded the wolf shadow to launch an attack.

Cangzhua leaped onto the back of the wolf shadow and fiercely bit its neck, but the black flames were like nothingness, and Cangzhua's sharp claws couldn't touch anything solid.

"This guy isn't a real entity at all!" Cangzhua growled angrily.

Kale stood where he was, his eyes fixed on the wolf shadow. He felt the wolf soul fire in his body stir again. He knew that... the real battle had just begun.
