"Godfrey…"
"What is he doing here?" Dio growled as the vein on his head popped, and his eyes now assumed a crimson color as they trembled ever so slightly. He had no trust in Jin; matter of fact, he hated him.
It was unusual, he was unbothered by the majority of things that took place around him, but there was something about Jin, something about what he did the day before that utterly pissed him off. Was it because he tried hurting an innocent person? Because he tried to basically kill him?
For a second, he dreamt of grabbing Jin's collar and bashing his skull into Jin's. Fortunately, Dio was patient in his actions and didn't give into his impulses too often.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing here?" Dio questioned once again, this time taking a step forward, to Jin's sides, he spotted a few familiar faces, nevertheless,s it wasn't the moment to greet the others.
"I'm with my classmates," Jin cocked his head almost oblivious to what Dio was referring to, which only aggravated the situation.
"Huh? Wha-"
"Stop….I invited him, so calm down and take a seat," Alex intervened, putting an end to anything Dio had left to say. However, after hearing the truth behind the situation, he felt a certain turmoil internally, something weird and uncomfortable.
Dio quietly took a seat next to one of the individuals he recognized, he couldn't forget those round glasses and tremendous martial skills so easily. Not to mention the deep green robe symbolizing the House of Karma fit her well
"Hello there, loser," Hina attempted to lighten the mood by bantering with Dio. Unfortunately, even though he was seated next to her, his eyes were glued onto Jin.
"Woohooo," she waved her hands in front of his face, snapping him back to reality. "Sorry…" he apologized awkwardly and looked down at his empty plate. "Why are you putting up with him…?" He asked in a lower voice, making sure nobody else could hear them.
"…..I don't know. I guess I have no reason not to?" She replied before chomping down on a piece of bread.
"What? he literally tried to kill someone, all for the sake of what? Popularity?"
"But he didn't kill anyone."
"That's because-"
"Because you intervened and saved John. I know what you mean, but how I am to judge his intention? Even more so when nothing happened?" She narrowed her eyes at him.
"You're saying it's my fault?" Dio retorted as he reached for a piece of meat that was placed in the middle of the table.
"No, you intervened alright, but because of that, there's no longer any justification to treat him that way. Nevertheless, I understand why you would feel that way. If anything, I believe it is right for you to feel such a way," she continued to eat her food diligently.
"Unfortunately, I'm not a victim of words. You may convince yourself with flowery statements and logical reasoning, however, you cannot really deny what has happened. It was evident to everyone present there, faculty included." Dio took a bite of his deliciously grilled chicken. The flavour and rich fluids burst in his mouth, reminding him of his mother's cooking.
"Well, as far as I've heard, there was no mana residue, so who knows, maybe there was no need for intervention," Hina said in a cunning tone, shooting Dio a quick side eye before diverting her focus back to the food. "Besides, as a Mage, are you not by nature a victim of your words?"
Before he could reply, he spotted another individual; this time, it was none other than his own roommate. His presence in this situation was like fuel to the fire, and the only one to think this was a good idea was, of course, Dio.
"John! Here," he called out to him as he turned around to Alex and grinned, "oh, I hope that's alright…" he said in a mocking tone.
"Dio…..don't do this…" She replied as her mind wandered into the worst case scenarios. There was a part of her that felt ashamed. Was she only doing this because of Jin? Did she truly not feel sorry for John? Alex was well aware of how this made her seem, but what could she do? You don't always choose the people you're around, but to what extent is that statement an excuse?
"Why not? What's the problem?" Dio continued to wave his hand in the air until it caught John's attention. Upon seeing and perceiving everyone at the table, there was a visible shift of emotions on his face. Beads of sweat now slowly formed and rolled down his temples as his lips began to tremble.
'Yeah, he did seem like the nervous kind,' Dio thought to himself as he noticed the clearly rattled John walking over, "how was your sleep?" Dio asked as he gestured for him to take a seat next to Hina, who, on the other hand, was rather appalled by Dio's actions.
"G-g..good…." John smiled painstakingly as he stared down at his plate.
"Eat. There's nothing to worry about. Nothing," Dio's tone at the end of the sentence got peculiarly serious. Dio stared at Jin from time to time; the unbothered and careless look irked him. He wasn't a dreadhead; what reason did he have to be so nonchalant?
(A/N: I am sorry for that)
For the first time in a while, he felt uncomfortable, he felt alien on that table. Nobody, perhaps even John, wouldn't stand on his side, which was ironic considering everything Dio did, he did to protect John.
'This…feels wrong. Is it that difficult for them to see he's a psychotic fuck? I know I'm not overreacting, but I'm not sure…' he played with the remaining crumbs left on his plate as he was lost in thought.
In an attempt to ease the social atmosphere, Hina asked everyone what class they had next. To everyone's surprise, there was only one answer, and this excited one person in particular.
"Introduction to combat," the words slipped out of their mouths at the same time as they stared at each other. Dio's mood was now clearly elated as he stood up immediately. His expression almost manic as he looked at Jin and smiled.
"See you there, Godfreak,"
