Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - House

Kharon looked around the spacious room filled with fancy, golden decorations before turning towards Aidan.

"Do you live here on your own? How did you buy this house?"

Kharon walked around, prodding every item that caught his attention; which was to say everything he saw. As he walked around the room, analyzing all the items on display, he realised how rude he was being and walked back to Aidan who was smiling at him with a mischevious grin.

"I do live on my own, my mother got me this house when I... moved out."

"Your mother bought you a whole house? You come from a wealthy family?"

"Yes, and no. We are just a family that is well off, I guess. But enough of that, I need to get a bath and eat before sleeping. I promise you that I will answer all your questions tomorrow. But for now, I need rest."

Kharon simply nodded his head before asking, "Where can I sleep? I don't need anything much, something to keep me warm would be nice. And may I could have a shower as well?"

Aidan looked at Kharon as he said, "I have several guest rooms, come with me."

As Aidan led Kharon to a door down a brightly lit hallway, he explained how some things worked to Kharon who looked puzzled as to how the lights worked without any fire.

"These are lightbulbs which contain illumination runes. They can be turned on or off with this switch. He proceded to click the switch as all the lights in the hallway suddenly turned off. Kharon was intrigued by the mechanisms of the lights and had a lot of questions as to what exactly runes were. Aidan had mentioned a runic system and was now talking about light which was powered by runes, so Kharon's curiousity was growing by the minute.

'I don't want to bother him with all my questions. I guess we will have a very long conversation tomorrow. Maybe it will last the whole day.'

Aidan opened the door to a sparsely furnitured room with a bed and several pieces of furniture. He left Kharon alone for a few minutes before coming back with few clothes and a towel.

"You can have these, I am sorry I don't have anything smaller. We can go shopping tomorrow if you want, you can learn more about Lunaris Haven and it's people."

Aidan flashed him a bright smile before adding, "There is a bathroom down the corridor you can use. I have one in my room so we don't have to share. When you change, you can put your cloak and clothing on the floor. I will take them once I am done and put them in the aetheric wash basin."

"Where is the bathroom?"

He then pointed at a door at the end of the corridor before leaving. Kharon watched Aidan walk away as he noticed just how big Aidan was. His clothing seemed to both fit him and yet look a bit too small at the same time. It was a bit mind boggling but Kharon paid it no mind.

'I guess I am going to have a shower.'

Kharon wasn't fully sure what a shower was, but he assumed it was just the act of cleaning oneself. He planned on doing that either way, so it didn't matter if it was called something else.

As Kharon took off his cloak, he truly noticed just how dredged it was. The fabric wasn't wet as the blood had long dried, but it still felt sticky and it was easy to see the difference in colour on some parts of the cloak. He placed the cloak on the ground before taking off the tunic he was wearing.

It was then that he noticed strange markings and symbols on his body. He walked up to a mirror before turning his back and seeing that there were even more symbols on his back. He didn't know what they signified but assumed that they had to do with his bizzare circumstances.

Once he was done stripping, he put on the towel and went out into the corridor. As he reached the door at the end and opened it, he was met with blue, tiled floors and walls. He walked around the bathroom, looking at the different products on little shelves and looked at himself in the mirror.

He truly looked like a ghost as his pale body was fully exposed, his arms had a decent bit of muscle and his abs were visible, but he still felt quite small. His body had been augmented to superhuman levels but he still wasn't happy with how he looked. It sounded absurd but he couldn't help but feel small, especially with how close he had gotten to death with the tier 4 boar.

He dismissed these thoughts before walking up to a large circle on the wall which contained runic symbols. He then tried figuring out it's mechanics but was unable to. So he walked out of the bathroom to ask Aidan for guidance.

As he knocked on the door, there was no response. He knocked several more times before slowly walking away. As he did, he heard a click and the door slowly opened, revealing Aidan wearing a white towel. His body seemed to have been sculpted by a master craftsman, his muscles were well-developed, with veins being visible on every part of his body.

"Do you need something?"

Kharon was suddenly flustered as he answered back.

"Yes... I don't know how to use the shower. Could you help me?"

Aidan walked towards Kharon before walking past him and opening the door of the bathroom.

"Are you coming?"

Kharon walked in after Aidan as he stared at his wide back. It was probably one of Aidan's best features. Kharon felt a bit envious of Aidan but vowed to himself that he would develop a physique as good as his.

Aidan explained how the shower worked as he pressed on several runes before moving out of the way of a jet of water which started pouring out of the ceiling.

"You click on this rune for warm water and on this one for cold water. You click several times to increase or decrease the temperature. Good night."

After his brief explanation Aidan walked out of the bathroom and went back into his room. Kharon took off his towel as he clicked several runes before being submerged in stream of water.

'Too cold, too cold.'

Kharon frantically clicked on the heat rune as the water temperature quickly increased. He just stood under the stream of water, cleaning off any bloody surface before he turned off the shower and walked out of the bathroom.

As he wiped himself off and put on the clothes Aidan had given him, he chuckled.

'These are way too big for me. I guess I need to get bigger somehow... Maybe ascending to a new tier will increase by body mass. Or exercising.'

Kharon switched off the lightbulb in his room before getting on the bed. The moment his head made contact with the pillow, he passed out and fell into a long slumber.

...

Kharon slowly woke up in a soft, comfortable bed. He was covered by a blanket despite not remembering if he had put it over himself.

'Aidan...'

Kharon suddenly jumped out of the bed and made his way to Aidan's room. All his questions would finally be answered today and he had a lot of them to ask.

As he knocked on the door, there was no response. He stood patiently for sometime before hearing someone call his name from beyond the corridor. He could smell a delicious aroma coming from beyond the corridor and followed it. He slowly made his way down the corridor and walked into the spacious room filled with golden ornaments before walking through an open door and seeing Aidan wearing a piece on cloth over his clothes. There was a table with several chairs which had a wide variety of meals.

"Are you hungry? I made breakfast."

Kharon's mouth watered as he took a sit at the table. While looking at Aidan who was busy cutting up purple carrots and putting them into a pot.

"What are you making?"

"I am making mirecarrot mash. It's a common side dish in almost every household."

Kharon stared at the purple mush with a strange look before turning his attention to the meals which were neatly layed out on the table. He wanted to eat so badly but he didn't want to be rude by having breakfast without his host. So he stood up and walked up to Aidan.

"Can I help you with something?"

Aidan briefly turned his head towards Kharon before shaking his head.

"No, don't worry. I will soon be done. You should start eating. I would say before it turns cold but I have placed them on heating pads, so they wouldn't turn cold for a long while."

"I still want to help though, I would feel like a burden if I didn't do anything."

Aidan looked around before asking, "Could you open that cupboard and take out two plates and two glasses."

"Sure."

Kharon opened a cupboard filled with expensive looking utensils and dinnerware. He then carefully took two plates which had beautiful, swirly patterns. They didn't look like they had any runic functions so Kharon carried them over to the table and placed them down before taking out two glassware.

As he did this, Aidan carried the pot of purple mush and placed it on the table before removing the cloth which covered the front of his body.

"What exactly is that?"

Aidan looked at the cloth before answering, "The apron? It's something you wear to protect your clothes from getting dirty when cooking."

Aidan nodded before placing the glassware and taking a sit. Aidan joined him shortly, taking a sit next to him before saying, "Let's dig in! I can answer your questions while we eat."
