Chapter 12 - INVESTIGATION

"Can we get going?" Yaze asked. "I have other things to do"

"Yes sir" Kakashi and Ayaka yelled.

"We'll be going by foot," Yaze said and jumped almost forty meters into the air and landed on top of the gate. "It will be easier to stay hidden."

"How are you able to do that!?" Kakashi asked, there were a lot of things he didn't know supernaturals could do.

"Kakashi, just concentrate your karma on your feet and jump; the concentrated energy will boost your movement," Ayaka said before jumping.

Kakashi closed his eyes, trying to do what Ayaka had just explained. He jumped and landed on the gate, then slipped. Luckily, Yaze caught his arm pulled him up and carried Kakashi under his armpit, using his arm to wrap around his waist.

"At least, you won't fall off if I hold you like this," Yaze said, and Ayaka started laughing.

"What did you say? Leave me alone; I can jump on my own, and Ayaka, you better stop laughing. Hey, answer me, dammit." Kakashi argued and grumbled as Yaze and Ayaka jumped without paying him any attention.

As they got to Shinjuku, Yaze dropped them off by the train station.

"Something important just came up," Yaze said. "I'll be leaving you two for a while, you can investigate on your own till I come back"

With that, he disappeared before Kakashi could say anything.

"Ugh, I feel like I'm going to pass out," Kakashi said as he sat on a bench at the subway. "We were moving too fast"

"What do you mean by that!?" Ayaka yelled. "You didn't even walk, Yaze-sensei carried you all the way here."

"I'm not good at handling air pressure, and I think I swallowed a bug"

"I don't have time for this, we have a mission," Ayaka said and turned to leave, Kakashi stood up and followed her.

"Wait!" Kakashi shouted as he ran after her.

"What is it?"

"I'm Kakashi Yami," Kakashi said, extending his arm for a handshake.

Ayaka took a step back.

"What are you doing?" Ayaka asked, cautiously.

"Since we met this morning, not to mention how awkward it was, we didn't get to properly introduce ourselves"

"Ayaka Kamisato" Ayaka sighed. "Since that is over, what do we do?"

"I thought you knew what to do," Kakashi said, plainly.

"I've never got outside the academy on my own. How could I know what to do!?"

"That's sensei of our sent us on a mission and walked away without giving us any details. What kind of teacher does that!?" Kakashi sighed. "Hinata's parents live in Shinjuku; I should visit them now that I have the opportunity."

"Huh?, We are on a mission, and you want to go on a visit!?" Ayaka yelled. "Who the heck is Hinata anyways!?"

"For a girl who calls herself a goddess, shouldn't you try to not talk like that?"

"I'll speak however I please!"

Kakashi walked towards a lady who was passing by.

"Excuse me, do you know this location?" Kakashi said, handing over the card he had received from Hinata's father.

The lady nodded and directed them and Kakashi thanked her.

"Let's get going."

"No, thanks. I'm going to respect Yaze-sensei's order. You can go if you want." Ayaka turned her back at Kakashi.

"Okay," Kakashi replied and started walking.

Ayaka ran after him.

"Wait! I don't mean you should leave me behind!" She yelled.

"But you said you're not coming."

"Well, I'm going now. But I'm not doing this because of you; I just think that as teammates, we should stay together."

"Now, I get it," Kakashi said, realizing something.

"Get what?"

"You're a tsundere!"

"I'm not a tsundere!!" Ayaka yelled.

"Okay, let's go," Kakashi said, and Ayaka nodded. "Tsundere"

"I have told you, I'm not a tsundere!!!!" Ayaka yelled angrily.

[Ayaka looks cute when she's angry.]

They made their way to one of the houses in the residential district. Ayaka ran to the door and rang the doorbell, someone answered momentarily.

The door opened, revealing a teenager about seventeen years old.

"Can I help you?" She asked in a nice tone, but Ayaka could still sense fear in her voice.

"Yes, we are from the ASE, and we just want to ask a few questions," Ayaka replied.

"Okay, come in then." They walked inside as she told them to sit down. The lady seemed relieved after hearing that they were from the academy. "What do you want to ask about?"

Ayaka whispered to Kakashi, telling him to leave all the talking to her and Kakashi nodded.

Hinata came running to Kakashi and hugged him.

"Kakashi-sensei, I didn't expect you to come so soon," Hinata said. Her sister cleared her throat. "Oh, I'm sorry. This is my sister, Amai."

"Nice to meet you," Kakashi said.

"No, the pleasure is mine. Thank you for what you did for my sister," Amai thanked.

"It was nothing," Kakashi said.

"Kakashi-sensei, my parents are not at home now, but we can hang out with us," Hinata suggested.

"I'm not your sensei. At least, not yet," Kakashi replied. "I wish I could stay, but I'm busy right now."

"Then why are you here, sensei?" Hinata asked.

"Where are my manners? Please wait while I get you some cups of tea," Amai said before calling Hinata to come with her.

She came back with two cups of tea and offered them to Kakashi and Ayaka.

"We got reports of missing people around this part of the city," Ayaka said, then took a sip of her tea. "We just want to know whether you saw anything unusual that could help us."

"You heard about it too?" Amai asked. "It started about two weeks ago. I'm sorry, but that's all I can say; I haven't seen anything. Most of what I can tell you are just rumors that you might have heard already."

"Okay, we will be taking our leave then," Ayaka announced.

"Wait!!!" Hinata shouted.

"Huh??" Kakashi responded. "What's wrong, Hinata?"

"I might be able to tell you something," she said shyly.

"Do you know anything about it?" Ayaka asked.

"Yes, the cause of it is my friend. His name is Tomura," Hinata replied.

She looked shocked, there was more to it, and she had seen it all.

# HINATA'S FLASHBACK

Tomura's father wasn't the type of father who supported his son's decision. It wasn't always like that; his father was a kind and gentle man who would do anything for his family. His mother was a human who worked as an executioner for the ASE; she was strong and praised for being a human but still had achieved so much. Tomura has pride in his mother and has always said he wants to be like her.
