Chapter 22 - the one power (chapter 23)

Chapter 23

Looking up ahead of the flowing water, Levi was suddenly hit by something — or by someone — as they came out of the water. Levi was laying on the cold, sandy ground, naked, and on top of him was a woman. She had medium-dark skin and dark hair, which she wore in a braid. She was wet, as expected of someone who had just been in the river. After coughing up water, the woman was confused for a second before she realized she was sitting on something large, which she grabbed with her hand and felt. "Can you not do that, please?" Levi's voice sounded from beneath her, and she was taken aback before looking down. There she saw Levi — his long, lush blond hair sprawled out on the ground, wet, his olive skin cold to the touch, and his piercing blue eyes staring into hers.

His face was slightly red as the woman held onto his member. When she finally realized who she was sitting on and what she was holding, she yelled, "OH LIGHT!" Shocked, the woman looked at Levi in disbelief as he stood up. And he was naked. She saw what she had been holding when she was sitting on top of him and muttered, "Oh… my light." Realizing what she said, she stumbled back before turning around and diving back into the river. "Well, that was something," Levi thought as his ears felt like they were on fire, when suddenly, the world turned cold for a moment in an instant.

As he felt a hand cressing his bareback, causing him to freeze in place as the hand moved up and another hand appeared, they then both touched his face from the back as a voice whispered in his ears, "what is wrong? Feeling horny?" a sweet yet haunting voice sounded in his ears , he knew who this voice belonged to and for a moment, levi was about to feel fear but that would have been embarrassing as a reincarnator, so he whispered, "yes, yes i am" as he leaned back but there was nobody as laughter echoed in his ears, "that was creepy" he though as he felt the worlds temperature return, he got up, completely forgetting wanda as dove back into the river to wash off the sand. Feeling nice and fresh, Levi decided not to stay in the woods this time and instead headed for the nearest settlement — which he did so by chasing the girl.

He followed the girl into a village nestled in a serene, rural landscape. The heart of the village was the central Green, a communal open space where villagers gathered for events and daily interactions. Adjacent to the Green was the Winespring, a natural spring that emerged from a low stone outcropping, providing fresh water to the community. The village's architecture was characterized by modest, sturdy homes constructed from local materials. These houses were primarily made of timber, with thatched roofs and stone foundations, reflecting the practical and self-sufficient nature of the inhabitants. Each dwelling often featured a well-tended garden, adding to the village's charm. One of the most prominent structures was the Winespring Inn, situated near the Winespring itself. This establishment served as both a gathering place and lodging for travelers, embodying the village's hospitality.

The village, called Emond's Field, was surrounded by expansive fields and dense woodlands, highlighting its agrarian lifestyle. The villagers were primarily farmers and craftsmen, cultivating crops and tending to livestock. The surrounding forests provided timber and game — essential resources for the community. The village's layout was simple, with dirt roads connecting homes, workshops, and communal areas. This was what Levi had found after he shape-shifted into a cat. "It's quite a simple village with nothing interesting going for it," he thought, unconsciously licking his front paw — a habit he quickly realized. "It's quite weird seeing things from a cat's perspective, not to mention the instincts." He didn't feel the urge to hunt mice, but little acts like licking some part of himself or unnecessary jumps when he heard something moving were hard to ignore.

He didn't really pay much attention to it, but what grabbed his attention was a pair of a man and a woman who were wearing cloaks. As they entered the inn, the woman stopped when she was passing by him. She looked at him as he looked at her before she walked into the inn. The door creaked open, silencing the room as all eyes turned to a man entering. Nynaeve stood, hand on her dagger, and demanded, "Name yourself, stranger." The man who was with the woman removed his hood as he introduced himself. "Lan Mandragoran," he said before adding, "This is Moiraine." As Moiraine entered.

Moiraine, being the woman who looked at Levi, caught his interest. Marin approached and asked, "Milady, can I help you?" Moiraine responded, "We'll need stables for our horses and a room for the night. Two beds and fresh linen. That's all we need." She raised her hand, revealing a ring, prompting Marin to acknowledge, "Of course, Moiraine Sedai." Quiet murmurs spread as Levi thought, "Interesting, is she like some sort of royalty?" he asked himself before he suddenly had an idea. "Hmm, this is quite immoral to do, but as long as I don't look at her memories, then it should be fine," he thought as he looked at Marin. Levi wanted to telepathically copy any knowledge she had on the woman as he approached her. Nobody paid any attention to the cat walking into the inn as Moiraine warmed herself by the fire.

Observing Egwene, the woman Levi met on the river, Mat, Rand, and Perrin, Levi watched the group quietly. Marin then guided Moiraine and Lan to their rooms, saying, "If you'll come this way." Perrin remarked, "She looks like a normal person. I don't know, I..." Rand cautioned, "Quiet. Who knows what she can hear? Maybe she's headed to the war in the south? In the stories, they say one Aes Sedai can turn a battle on her own." Nynaeve interjected, "I don't care where she's going to, but we'll all be happier and safer when she's not there. Where's Laila?" Perrin speculated, "Probably at the forge. Iron's hard to work alone." He then requested, "Give Egwene my best." Nynaeve nodded, and Perrin departed.

After telepathically copying some of Marin's memories, Levi, who was now in his human form and sitting on the edge of the village with his miniature library at hand, was pondering the knowledge he had gained. "So this world revolves around the One Power, a mystical force divided into male that are called saidin and female which are known as saidar halves." He paused as he transferred the knowledge to the miniature library. "Channelers can manipulate this power for various feats, such as healing, combat, and manipulation of elements. However, due to an ancient curse, male channelers risk madness, making female Aes Sedai the primary wielders of the One Power. This is an interesting world indeed." He smiled as he liked this world so far. Taking a deep breath, Levi closed the book as he had finished copying the common sense of this world.
