Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Trial of the Eternals

Unseen Warlocks of Eternity

The six figures—Eternals—hovered above the edge of Leon's new universe, their forms shifting between concepts rather than shapes. One moment they were galaxies, the next, thoughts, the next, unspoken truths.

Leon stood alone before them, yet his presence commanded the stars themselves.

His newly-formed world, Eterna, pulsed with life behind him—vibrant, young, and fragile. He couldn't let these entities destroy what he'd built.

One of the Eternals, the Weaver of What-Ifs, stepped forward.

"To ascend is to challenge the cycle. But to remain is to be consumed by it."

Leon raised his sword, golden flames of Sovereign Law burning around it.

"I've already broken cycles. I've erased gods. I am the System now."

The Weaver smiled, not with kindness, but curiosity.

"Then prove it."

The First Trial: Echo of Infinity

Without warning, Leon was dragged into a realm outside of space and time—a mirror reality known as the Echo of Infinity.

Here, every version of himself existed simultaneously—his failures, his triumphs, his regrets.

He faced himself. A thousand times.

A Leon who surrendered.

A Leon who became a tyrant.

A Leon who destroyed everything in fear.

They attacked all at once.

Blades forged from doubt. Shields of fear. Chains of endless regret.

But Leon gritted his teeth, raising his Sovereign Blade and roaring,

"I am not defined by what I could've been!"

With a single swing, he erased the false selves, cutting through the multiverse of possibility and standing tall amidst the collapsing reflections.

A whisper echoed:

[Trial One Complete. Identity Confirmed.]

[You are you. And none other.]

The Eternals React

Back in the void, the Eternals observed silently. The Weaver nodded.

"Few can survive their Echo. Fewer still emerge stronger."

The next Eternal stepped forward—the Architect of Unmaking—whose touch could erase ideas from memory, turning entire histories into myths, and myths into nothing.

"Now let's see if your resolve survives when all you've built begins to vanish."

Leon looked back toward Eterna—

And saw it begin to unravel.

The sky dimmed. Mountains crumbled.

His people—his creations—began to forget him.

The Trial of Unmaking

The Forgotten World

Leon watched in horror as Eterna, his first creation, began to dissolve—not in flame or chaos, but in forgetfulness.

Memories of him faded from the minds of his people.

Temples built in his honor crumbled into ruins.

Books of his laws turned to blank pages.

He was being erased.

The Architect of Unmaking, cloaked in layers of fading thought, drifted forward.

"This is the truth of all things, Sovereign," the Eternal whispered. "Even gods become echoes. Even creators are forgotten. Can you still claim your divinity when no one remembers your name?"

Leon's heart pounded. Not from fear—but fury.

He clenched his fists as his system flared:

[Warning: Divine Recognition Level — 0%]

[Administrator Title: At Risk]

[Universal Authority: Fading]

No.

He wouldn't allow this.

He had transcended mortality, defied the Primordials, and broken the chains of Order and Chaos.

He would not be undone by silence.

"My legacy is not in their memory—" Leon growled, his Sovereign Blade lighting up with every name, every life, every soul he had touched— "—it's in their existence!"

He raised his blade high, stabbing it through the fabric of Eterna's unraveling sky.

[Command: Eternal Restoration Initiated]

[Divine Concept Engaged: "I Am"]

The stars flared. Time roared.

A new law was written into his system:

> So long as life breathes, so too shall I.

So long as creation exists, I am not forgotten.

Reality surged. The crumbling world shivered—and then began to knit itself back together.

Memories returned. Prayers resumed. His name, Leon, echoed across continents once more.

The Architect of Unmaking stepped back, for the first time uncertain.

"Impossible. You anchored your legacy not to their minds... but to the concept of creation itself?"

Leon's eyes burned with golden fire.

"You cannot erase what is woven into existence itself."

[Trial Two Complete. Authority Reinforced.]

The Third Eternal Approaches

From the void, another figure emerged. This one was neither shadow nor light, but a shifting reflection of Leon himself.

The Eternal Mirror.

"The next trial is the most dangerous, Sovereign," the reflection said calmly. "For this time, you face not what could've been... but what you still might become."

Leon narrowed his eyes.

"Bring it."

Reflection of the Fallen

The Eternal Mirror's Realm

Leon was pulled into a dimension of glass and thought, an infinite hall of mirrors stretching across the cosmos.

Each mirror shimmered with visions—not illusions, but alternate versions of his future.

In one, he sat on a blackened throne, a tyrant who ruled with fear and fire.

In another, he walked alone, a wanderer who abandoned his creations to avoid corruption.

In another still, he stood in chains—defeated by the very System he once controlled.

The Eternal Mirror stepped beside him, still wearing Leon's face, but twisted. Its voice was calm, too calm.

"Power bends even the strongest. Every Sovereign eventually falls. The question is… which fall will you choose?"

Leon ignored the voice and continued walking, but the mirrors began to shatter, one by one, releasing twisted versions of himself—corrupted Administrators, god-kings, and forgotten ghosts.

Each one lunged at him, bearing a piece of his own potential downfall.

"You will become us," they whispered in unison. "It is inevitable."

Battle of the Infinite Selves

Leon spun, slashing through one doppelgänger after another, but with every kill, more rose.

Each enemy was strong.

Each knew his weaknesses.

Each carried a fragment of doubt.

Then came the last one.

It was Leon—older, colder, and infinitely more powerful. His aura suffocated the realm. His System interface was black, corrupted, and pulsating with forbidden commands.

"I am the version that gave in," he said. "The version who saw the universe as flawed… and corrected it through annihilation."

Leon's fists clenched.

"I will never become you."

The fallen version laughed. "You already are. The line between creator and destroyer is thinner than you know."

The two clashed—Sovereign Authority vs Sovereign Decay.

The realm bent and shattered under the force of their blows. Leon's blade cracked. His body bled divine essence.

He fell to one knee.

The corrupted Leon raised his dark weapon, ready to strike the final blow.

"I told you. Every Sovereign falls."

Leon smiled, eyes blazing.

"Then I'll be the first who stands back up."

He activated a hidden command—one even he had forgotten.

[Administrator Function: Divine Reboot – Purge All Corruption]

A golden wave of system light exploded from him, purging the fallen version, and with it, every corrupted timeline.

The Eternal Mirror cracked… then shattered into stardust.

Trial Three Complete

Leon stood alone once more in the hall of glass—now empty, now silent.

[Trial Three Complete. Identity Stabilized. Future Locked: Unbreakable Sovereign]

He returned to the void, where the remaining Eternals now watched him with new expressions—not of judgment, but respect.

The next Eternal, veiled in flame and ash, floated forward.

"Now that you know what you could become… are you ready to face what the universe will try to make you?"

Leon raised his hand, golden lightning dancing across his fingers.

"I've survived myself. I can survive anything."
