That night encounter changed nothing between them. Kade still wandered around suspiciously in Felix's proximity, but without approaching him, while Felix continued to, well, maybe not ignore the Alpha, but simply act as if they didn't know each other. He didn't even thank Kade for his help with the unknown wolf. Not because he wasn't grateful at all… But thanking Kade would mean acknowledging Felix needed the man, or at least that's how it felt, so it was best to pretend as if that whole incident never happened.
Being rude was fine. Making Kade think he was welcome to bother Felix was not.
However, Kade didn't feel the need for any invitation, or even permission. It seems that in his mind, their fated mate bond was enough. And so, only a few days later, he showed up at Felix's doorstep again.
"What do you want?" Felix asked through the closed door, letting out a quiet sigh, too tired to get as annoyed as he should.
"Open the door first," came the response from outside.
