Chapter 17 - Sera’s mindset

Seraphina stood outside Ryan's room, looking at a scroll in her hand. She contemplated the words in it even as she waited.

This was Ryan's training plan.

She had been busy all day.

Preparing some resources for Ryan, and cutting his loose ends for him.

Unlike how she sounded, she wasn't that impatient to meet him. She was more patient than she appeared, more of a deep thinker.

In fact, the reason she hadn't come earlier was not something Ryan would understand.

The first thing Seraphina did after she parted with Ryan was to leave the palace. He wouldn't have expected that.

She had entered the slave market, and there—she had murdered two people from the shadows.

That was what she had been doing.

One of the people she murdered was the slave that Ryan had absorbed the Appraisal skill from. The other person she murdered, on the other hand, was the slave trader who interacted with Ryan when he bought the goblinette.

They were loose ends.

What would happen if someone notices that the slave had unexplainably lost his appraisal ability?

That would be disastrous.

The slaver would question it in their mind, and then they would think about all the weird things that had happened in the last few days.

Then, they would inevitably think about the weird thing that the prince did.

He had touched the slave for 30 minutes.

That would attract attention to him.

Then, the chances of some people reaching the conclusion that Ryan had attained the Plunder Sucker Class was not zero.

Seraphina's lips curled up.

Truly, her brother was hopeless—she had to be the sensible one.

If Ryan had learned about what she had done, perhaps he would have paled. But he didn't know, and Seraphina planned to keep it that way.

"Are you done?!" She shouted in an impatient tone.

Then, patiently, shescribbled something on the scroll in her hand with magical ink that appeared out of her fingertips.

His training plan was now perfect.

This scroll would change his life.

"Yeah! Yeah, I am done!" He shouted from inside.

Sera became a bit suspicious. "Just what the hell are you doing in there?"

Suddenly, a thought made her pause. She clenched her fist around the scroll. Don't tell me that goblinette is in there.

She waited.

Soon, Ryan opened the door and walked out with a stretch. He smirked—that signature smirk she knew the bastard adorned when he felt smug.

A frown crossed her face. She sniffed. Hm, it's not the wild scent of goblins, but this is not just his scent either.

There was still a bit of her own scent on Ryan, but there was a much more prominent scent on him.

Another woman.

Why is the smell so thick around him?

"Come on," he said, wrapping his hand around her waist and subtly pulling her away from his room. "Is the plan ready?"

She frowned deeper.

"Yeah, the plan is complete." She nodded. "Just that we need to execute it."

They nodded, keeping silent.

In the royal palace, even the walls have ears.

"You smell weird," she said casually. "Did you use Kaelith's bathwater or something?"

He cleared his throat, feeling immediately guilty for some reason. "I did have a bath."

Seraphina nodded after some thought.

That lie made him uncomfortable.

As they walked in silence, that feeling of discomfort only heightened.

Ryan immediately became hyper aware of it. He had never felt awkward, uncomfortable, or any such feeling when he was with her.

Then, just the vibe around her made him more uncomfortable.

That was the same for Seraphina.

They both felt an innate sense of discomfort.

Why did she feel so uncomfortable around him, though?

Their faces simultaneously took on a strikingly similar-looking consternated expression.

""You are hiding something from me!""

They shouted simultaneously.

Then, they both fell silent.

They both did not linger on the subject.

Seraphina moved away from him.

"First, let's go. I have something for you."

She had not only cut loose ends and prepared a plan, she had also prepared resources for him.

"Oh?" Ryan's interest was picked.

His sister walked forward boldly and they soon reached her room.

Without hesitation, they then walked into the mirror and reached the place the assassin was tied up in.

The moment he entered, Ryan noticed the presence of a new captive.

It was, surprisingly, an animal that existed on Earth. A cheetah.

Such a fierce creature was now tied up in chains, looking at Seraphina with trembling eyes and shaking body.

"Why are we here?" Ryan asked curiously.

"Try stealing the assassin's skill first."

Ryan thought for a bit, then nodded. He went upto the assassin and placed a finger on the guy's forehead.

The person whimpered.

This is a person I will kill…

Ryan forcefully calmed himself.

1 minute.

10 minutes.

20 minutes.

"Yeah, 30 minutes is done," Seraphina said. "Feel anything?"

Ryan nodded. "It's useless."

"That limitation is obvious." She nodded. "He has too many Runes compared to you."

Yeah I am a low level newbie…

He could feel a bottomless abyss open up inside him, trying to absorb something from the assassin, but the resistive force from the man made the force of attraction useless.

It was like a whirlpool trying to swallow a continent.

Impossible.

"Now what?" He asked.

"Absorb the cheetah's skill."

Ryan went up to it in interest and carefully placed his hand on it.

"Where did you get this?" He asked. "Isn't it rare to find such a low level cheetah?"

Cheetahs were, after all, dangerous Fiend race monsters. They could easily kill and level up, and by the time they reached this cheetah's age, they should all have been high level.

But this one was surprisingly just level 1.

"I got it from a slave auction," she said. "It was raised to be turned into a familiar, so the slave masters did not allow it to level up. If it were let to roam in the wilderness from its youth, yeah, with its skills, it would have been a deadly predator."

Ryan appraised it as he waited for the 30 minutes to finish.

[Cheetah]

[Level: 1]

[Passive Skills: Danger Sense (lv.1), Enhanced Vision (lv. 1)]

[Active Skills: Speed Burst (lv.1)]

Soon, 30 minutes ended.

Ryan felt that abyss inside him open up again, and unlike the assassin, the cheetah couldn't even resist as something from within it streamed out of it and into Ryan's body.

It was an absolutely exhilarating sensation!

"What skill did you get?" Sera asked expectantly.
