"Son, I know you love magic, but staying cooped up in the library all the time isn't good… And what are these diagrams?" My mother, Frigga, asked in a concerned voice.
We returned to Asgard a few days after my engagement. Then, a couple of years flew by.
By the way, I'm fifteen now. Yeah, a time skip took place—being a child was getting quite annoying.
The diagrams my mom was talking about? Magic circles. I had already established the formulas and set everything up. Asgard was about to witness its newest form of magic.
And although Raphael could probably explain it better, I'm the one talking today.
Using magic circles and formulas to cast spells is much simpler than the traditional system we have here. Unlike our current magic, which relies heavily on talent, imagination, and belief, magic circles function more like a math equation—apply the formula, adjust the ratios, and boom, magic happens.
With this new system, everyone in Asgard could wield magic. And when I say everyone, I mean it. It's that simple.
Or maybe not. It's still math, after all. Some people are good at it. Some people suck. But at its core, it's a logical form of magic: add this, mix that, and watch shit explode.
Now, you might be wondering—what's in it for me? Well, let me tell you, the benefits are fucking insane.
First off, I get to go down in history as the genius who created an entire fucking magic system at fifteen. And since this system benefits everyone in Asgard, my name's only going to get bigger.
Second, even the mightiest supercomputers are like toys in front of Raphael. And since this is just basic math? Let's just say… I'm going to be pulling off some crazy shit soon.
I could tell you about it now, but let's wait. I'll use this magic when I go to war anyway.
Oh yeah, about wars—those have been going on this whole time. When I turned twelve, my father started teaching me warfare: how to lead an army, how to conquer, you know, the usual god-king parenting.
Hah! Of course, you wouldn't know, peasants.
"This, Mother, is my greatest invention yet. You came at the right time—I was just about to show it to Father. Come join me. This is gonna be great." I grinned, practically vibrating with excitement. Oh, and I had built quite the reputation creating things—be it some magic spells or some gadgets, I was seen as a genius inventor.
After all, for this new magic system, even though Raphael did most of the number-crunching, I was the one who came up with the entire concept.
"Well… okay," my mother sighed. "Let's go, son. But still, stop locking yourself in the library all the time. Even your father is worried about you skipping training sessions."
"He won't be worried after seeing this. Now, let's hurry up," I said, only half-listening.
I mean, come on. That's like a mom telling her son in college to eat healthily. Sure, he'll nod and agree—but we all know he's ignoring it.
We reached my father's chambers soon after. He was busy analyzing a hologram, but when he noticed us, he gave a brief nod, signaling us to speak.
"Father, I have something to show you," I announced, unable to keep the excitement from my voice. "This might just be my greatest invention yet. I've developed a new magic system—one different from our traditional methods. With this, every Asgardian will be able to wield magic, further strengthening our forces. Of course, I doubt anyone could reach my level, but this system will still massively boost their abilities. And, more importantly, it can play a vital role in the ongoing war."
"A new magic system?" Odin mused. "Is it like my runes? Magic that potent cannot be made accessible to commoners."
Of course, that was his first concern. Not the potential, not the innovation—no, the very first thing on his mind was how it might affect his reign.
Classic Odin.
"Don't worry, Father," I reassured him. "I won't deny that the upper limits of this magic system can rival the runes, but so can any magic—it depends on the wielder. This system simply has a much lower starting point. So low that even people with no talent at all can learn basic spells. The risk to our control over Asgard is negligible, if not nonexistent."
I let that sink in before smirking. "Now, let me demonstrate."
I flicked my wrist, summoning a few simple spells. Just the basics—floating orbs of light, a controlled burst of wind, a flickering flame. Nothing crazy.
"This is the most basic level of this magic system," I explained. "For advanced spells, we'll need a bigger space. Luckily, I have just the spell for that."
I raised my hand.
"GATE."
A shimmering portal tore open before us. Unlike the golden-hued fiery portals of Kamar-Taj, this one was different—a cosmic blue with touches of violet, swirling like a rip in reality. It was rectangular instead of circular. Otherwise, it was the same…
Odin's eyes narrowed, his gaze locked onto the portal. His expression remained unreadable, but I could tell he was intrigued. Slowly, he stepped forward, raising his hand toward the swirling energy.
The moment his palm neared the surface, the portal rippled as if responding to his touch.
"Marvellous…" he muttered, almost to himself. Then, his gaze flicked to me. "This magic… it can be used to deploy troops in secret, bypassing enemy defenses. We could appear within their strongholds and destroy them from within."
Ah, there it was. The warlord in him was already thinking about military applications.
Good. That meant I had his interest.
"Come, Father," I said, stepping through. "This leads to the Ymir Mountains, far from the capital. I'll demonstrate the true potential of this magic system there."
He hesitated for only a moment before following me through.
We emerged onto a vast, empty plateau-like mountaintop, surrounded by towering peaks. Over 2,000 kilometers away from the capital—more than enough distance for what I was about to do.
I turned to face the mountains and lifted my hand.
Three magic circles formed, stacking atop one another, glowing with raw power.
"Incineration Ray."
A blinding column of light shot forward.
The temperature? Over 10,000 degrees.
The impact? Mountains crumbled. Rock turned to molten slag. Entire peaks disintegrated, leaving a smoldering crater in their place.
The spell obliterated everything in its path.
I lowered my hand, watching the dust settle. "And that, Father, is what this magic system is capable of—if mastered properly."
Odin stood in silence for several moments, his eyes locked on the destruction before him. His grip on his spear tightened slightly, but his expression remained composed.
[That was quite the spectacle, Master~]
'Thanks, Raph.'

Hope you enjoy the story, it has finally made its way into the power rankings thanks to your support, I hope you continue enjoying it.
And this chapter had a timeskip since having a five year old MC is making the story difficult for me to write....well not difficult, I just don't enjoy wrtiting children..... It's also the only reason I don't like anime such as HxH.....children as MC...
