Chapter 103 - Chapter 103: Vow Beneath the Moonlight

1. A Fateful Moment

After standing there like a dazed duck, getting judged and silently roasted by both students and comrades alike, Satoru finally snapped back to reality.

His face still looked pretty dumb, but then—

"WAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

He suddenly burst into shameless laughter, so loud and obnoxious that even Obito instinctively took a step back.

Eren frowned, a twitch forming at the corner of his mouth.

"This guy's condition… might be terminal."

Kakashi just sighed in resignation—he'd already grown numb to his teacher's spectacular falls from grace.

But just as everyone was bracing for another round of nonsense, Satoru suddenly went quiet.

His gaze sharpened, and the usual laziness faded from his expression.

Without a word, he reached out and gently helped Shisui and Asuma to their feet.

His voice was calm. Steady. Serious.

"Come on, you two.""As of today, I officially take you in… as my disciples."

Then, his eyes swept across the circle.

Kakashi. Obito. Gai. Rin. Asuma. Shisui. And Eren—Each one of them, a child he had chosen.

"But before we become a real family… there's something we must do first."

"We need a vow."

2. The Vow of a Family

Satoru turned to Kakashi.

"Hey Kakashi, you got any sake on you?"

Kakashi's eyebrow twitched.

"…Sensei, I'm a minor."

"Oh? Then who was cuddling Jiraiya's stash of booze the other day?"

Kakashi: "…"

All the kids turned to stare at him.

Gai gasped.

"Kakashi! You're straying from the path of youth!!!"

Obito grinned slyly.

"You sneak! Hiding liquor from us? Hand it over!"

With an exasperated sigh, Kakashi pulled out a small sake bottle from inside his jacket.

"…Here."

Satoru took it with a smirk, then poured the sake into eight small cups, arranging them carefully on a flat stone in the center of their circle.

Everyone knelt down together, each holding a cup.

Moonlight poured down from above, reflecting in their eyes—eyes filled with resolve.

"We are shinobi of Konoha.""We swear to live with sincerity, and forever treat one another as family."

Their voices rang out in unison, rising into the night sky, carried gently by the breeze that brushed through the trees.

Asuma and Shisui felt something stir in their hearts.

This warmth in the air…This feeling of being acknowledged…Of belonging—

So this... is what family feels like.

Shisui glanced around, a soft smile tugging at his lips.

Asuma took a long breath, thinking to himself:

"Not bad at all."

3. Satoru's Tall Tales, Students Blinded

After draining their cups, Satoru rubbed his chin, a mischievous glint flashing in his eye.

"Hey, kids…"

"Actually… my Hoshino clan used to be a big-shot noble family, you know?"

Obito's jaw dropped.

"HUH?! Sensei had a clan?! I always thought you were just… a really persistent hobo!"

Satoru: "…"

Kakashi nodded coolly.

"Yeah, I thought you were just some wandering bum too."

Satoru: "…All of you. Minus points. All around."

He cleared his throat and shamelessly continued spinning his tale:

"The Hoshino clan had tons of legendary weapons—super rare, super powerful."

"For example, that bracelet on Eren's wrist—it's a spiritual warding tool. Enhances focus and boosts resistance against genjutsu."

"From now on, every two or three months, all of you will compete in a friendly tournament."

"The winner… will receive a special weapon or a new jutsu personally chosen by me."

Everyone: "!!!"

The air exploded with excitement.

Obito jumped up, eyes sparkling like twin spotlights.

"SENSEI!!! THIS IS TRUE LOVE!!!"

Gai punched the air, passion radiating from every pore:

"THIS… IS THE TRIAL OF YOUTH!!!"

Rin giggled brightly:

"That actually sounds really fun!"

Obito rubbed his hands together, eyes locked on Satoru like he was a walking treasure chest.

"Sensei, Sensei! Is there a limit on how many times we can win? What if I just keep dominating? Do I get your whole arsenal?!"

Satoru:

"Keep dreaming."

Obito: "…"

4. The Adults' Suspicion

While the younger ones were buzzing with excitement, a few older minds had drifted into quiet thought.

Especially Asuma.

As the son of the Third Hokage, he knew Konoha's history inside out—yet he'd never heard of a "Hoshino Clan."

"A great noble family… with no mention in any historical record?"

He narrowed his eyes at Satoru, thoughts spinning.

I'll have to dig through the Sarutobi archives myself.

Shisui, too, shared the same quiet doubt.

Hoshino… I've never heard that name before. But Sensei… he's clearly no ordinary man.

Both silently decided to look deeper into it later.

Eren remained silent, but inside, a suspicion grew louder.

That bastard of a brother… he's hiding way more than he lets on.

5. End – A True Family

Beneath the full moon, eight figures sat together in a circle.

A vow had been made.

And a new family had formed.

Obito grinned ear to ear, swinging an arm around Kakashi's neck.

"Hey! Kakashi, Gai! We've gotta start training hard—Sensei's got treasure, remember?!"

Gai ignited with determination.

"HUH?! NOTHING IS STRONGER THAN THE FLAMES OF YOUTH!!!"

Shisui and Asuma glanced at each other quietly—then exchanged a small, knowing smile.

There were still doubts. Still mysteries. But for now… they had found a place to belong.

And that—was what truly mattered.
