Chapter 44 - An Unexpected Decision

On the battlefield, the smell of blood and fire filled the air, covering every corner of the area. Only the remnants of the war remained, with dust scattered across the land. Dzeth, Syiro, Akanza, and Hwang stood on the muddy ground, looking at Gogar's lifeless body lying on the ground. His face was pale, and his breath was still. Their comrade, a faithful warrior, was now just a memory. They all stood in silence, their hearts heavy with sorrow.

Dzeth stepped forward, his gaze fixed on Gogar's face, which appeared peaceful even in death. His eyes were heavy, but he knew they had no choice but to move forward.

"I'll teleport him to the hospital," Dzeth said in a strained voice.

He raised his hand, using Dimensional Warp to open a portal to the nearest hospital in the Solar Kingdom. Without another word, they all stepped into the portal.

At the Solar Kingdom Hospital

In the bright white room, doctors from the Solar Kingdom stood with serious expressions. They carefully examined Gogar's body, but it was clear from their faces that there was no hope left. An older doctor stepped forward and spoke softly, "I'm so sorry, everyone... Gogar cannot be saved. His injuries are too severe. Only God knows how much energy it would take to survive this."

Those words broke the silence in the room. Dzeth, already under immense pressure, felt as though a heavy weight had crushed his chest. But he knew they had to accept the reality. Gogar had given everything, and now he was gone.

"Thank you for your efforts," Dzeth said, his voice cracking slightly. "He was a great warrior."

Syiro, standing behind him, could only lower her head, her eyes glassy. "Gogar... he fought with everything he had. We... we failed to protect him," she whispered, almost inaudible.

They were given a few moments to compose themselves before they were escorted to the Throne Room to meet with the leader of the Solar Kingdom. Despite their heavy hearts, they knew their mission was not over.

In the Throne Room

The Throne Room of the Solar Kingdom was vast, with walls adorned with various carvings of symbols representing power and justice. At the center of the room, sitting on a high throne, was a man who appeared older than they had imagined. The leader of Solar, respected not only for his status but also for his wisdom, smiled as he saw them enter.

"You've all arrived. How is Gogar?" asked the Solar Leader in a calm yet respectful tone.

Dzeth approached and said with a heavy voice, though his heart ached, "We're sorry, Gogar has passed away. We... we couldn't protect him."

The Solar Leader nodded slowly. "I know how hard it is to accept a loss. But don't be too saddened. Gogar gave everything he had. What matters most is that you helped protect this kingdom from the Blitz attack. Without your help, the situation could have been much worse."

Hwang and Akanza stood slightly behind, saying nothing, though it was clear that they too were deeply affected by the Solar Leader's words.

"We are grateful to all of you," continued the leader. "The Solar Kingdom will always remember your sacrifice."

They stood in silence for a moment before Dzeth lifted his head, trying to steady himself. "We will do whatever it takes to ensure peace continues."

Once the meeting concluded, they were allowed to leave. The weight in their chests didn't lift, but they knew they still had a bigger responsibility to carry on.

Back on Earth

The portal opened once more, bringing them back to Earth. However, the atmosphere that greeted them was entirely different. The morning that had just begun now seemed to have turned into night. They stepped out of the portal, tired, their hearts still heavy from Gogar's death.

"I'm going home first. I'm tired," Syiro said softly, her voice tinged with emotion. She quickly walked away toward her house.

Dzeth and Syafi walked side by side, slowly making their way home. The dark sky made the weight on their hearts even heavier. Dzeth walked with a slower pace, each step feeling more burdensome.

Suddenly, Dzeth's phone vibrated. It was a series of notifications from his mentor. He stopped walking, his eyes focused on the screen. He opened the message, and his expression changed. "What?! I've dropped from Grade S to B?!"

Syafi, walking beside him, turned to look at him, a small chuckle escaping her. "See, that's what happens when you're always going here and there. You love fighting too much. No wonder this happened."

Dzeth sighed, his eyes widening. "Arghhh, it's exhausting to go from Grade S, international 8th, to suddenly Grade B. All my efforts, weren't they enough?" He rubbed his forehead, feeling a mix of frustration and disbelief.

Syafi chuckled softly. "Haha, it's okay. If you're lucky, you'll climb back up. If not, you can always train more. Grade S isn't everything, Dzeth."

Dzeth only let out a tired sigh, walking more slowly. His body felt heavier, as though the weight of the world was resting on his shoulders. Yet, beneath all of that, he knew their journey was far from over. The war wasn't finished.
