Chapter 21 - London 2

special story

Bronya: "The lights are flickering again."

Writer (not looking up from notebook): "That's the fifth time today. Sixth if you count the ceiling blinking at me earlier."

Captain: "Has anyone checked the main generator?"

Kiana: "Has anyone checked the snack drawer?"

Mei: "You checked it five minutes ago, Kiana."

Kiana: "Yeah, but hope is a powerful thing."

Theresa (muffled, from inside a cabinet): "Why is my emergency pudding stash full of screws?!"

Rita (calmly sipping tea): "Because Kiana thought they were chocolate chips. Again."

Kiana (pouting): "They were shiny and misleading!"

Bronya: "You also thought the toaster was a radio."

Kiana: "To be fair, it was playing music. For a second. Then it exploded."

Writer (deadpan): "Art is pain."

Suddenly, the lights cut out entirely. A strange mechanical whirr echoed through the base, followed by what sounded suspiciously like a... rubber duck squeak?

Captain: "...Nope. Not dealing with this today."

Mei (sighing): "I'll go get the emergency toolkit."

Kiana (already hiding behind a couch): "I didn't touch anything! Probably."

Rita: "Define 'touch.'"

Kiana: "...Breathe near?"

Theresa: "That counts."

A screen flickered to life on the wall—sideways—and showed Ai-chan, completely upside down and in visible distress.

Ai-chan: "EMERGENCY UPDATE! Writer tried to install a 'vibe enhancer' and now the AI core thinks it's a DJ booth from 1993!"

Writer (shrugging): "In my defense, the vibe was lacking."

Bronya: "It's literally vibrating the whole base."

Captain (clinging to a railing as the floor tilted): "Why is the hallway now a skate ramp?!"

Rita: "And more importantly... why is Kiana on rollerblades?"

Kiana: "Because destiny chose me!"

Mei (pinching the bridge of her nose): "Destiny gave you a concussion last time."

Theresa: "We are not going back to that hospital again."

Writer (scribbling notes): "This is gold. Keep arguing. This is character development."

Bronya: "We're developing trauma."

Suddenly, a siren wailed, and a robotic voice echoed:

Base System: "Warning: Personality Sync Conflict Detected. Two Ritas registered."

Everyone turned.

Rita (tilting her head): "Oh, my. Did I copy myself again? That explains why I felt so productive this morning."

A crashing sound came from the hallway. A perfectly arranged tea set rolled by at high speed, followed by a second Rita laughing and skateboarding on a serving tray.

Captain: "…Why do we even have that feature?"

Ai-chan (groaning): "Someone put the reality stabilizer in the microwave. Again."

Kiana: "It was glowing. Glowing means snack!"

Writer (calmly): "No, Kiana. Glowing means existential threat."

Kiana: "They're basically the same thing."

Theresa (now fully out of the cabinet and holding a broken pudding cup): "Who do I blame for this?"

Bronya: "The list is long. Writer's probably near the top."

Writer (grinning): "Flattered."

Another boom echoed. A vending machine crashed through the wall. On it was a sticky note: "For morale."

Captain (muttering): "We don't have morale anymore."

Kiana (from behind a couch): "I REGRET NOTHING!"

Mei: "I regret everything."

Rita (to second Rita): "Darling, I love your energy. But we can't both be Head Maid."

Second Rita: "Then we duel. With tea etiquette."

Ai-chan: "Wait—hold on! Good news! I unplugged the vibe enhancer."

The lights flickered… then returned.

The floor leveled.

The air calmed.

…A single spoon fell with a clink.

Everyone: "THANK YOU!"

Writer (glancing around): "...So. Who wants to plug in my experimental popcorn cannon?"

All: "NO."

The lights went out again. Somewhere in the dark… a kettle started whistling ominously

*********************************************************************************************

The morning sunlight spilled softly through the old-fashioned windows of the hotel.

The streets of London below were already alive—buses humming, distant chatter echoing from a café, and the occasional bark of a happy dog.

Inside one of the rooms, chaos was already brewing.

Kiana was struggling with her coat.

Kiana:"Why is this thing trying to strangle me?! Mei, help!"

Mei rolled her eyes gently but helped zip her up.

Mei:"You're putting it on backward again."

Kiana:"I was testing it!"

Kiana puffed.

Kiana:"Backwards warmth or something!"

Meanwhile, Captain waited in the lobby with Rita, who stood elegantly beside him in a cream-colored coat and scarf.

She offered him a knowing smile.

Rita:"I've ensured everyone has what they need today. Except, of course, Miss Kiana's patience."

Captain chuckled.

Captain:"That one's a lost cause."

Just then, Theresa stomped down the stairs in boots far too big for her.

Theresa:"Who said we're walking this much?! I was promised bitter melon juice and sitting."

Bronya followed behind her, unamused.

Bronya:"You said you were in charge of navigation."

Theresa:"I am!" Theresa declared.

Theresa:"I'll be navigating from every bakery we pass!"

[First Stop: A Stroll Through Covent Garden]

The group wandered through Covent Garden, marveling at street performers and market stalls.

Himeko kept glancing at the street violinist.

Himeko:"Makes you want to grab a glass of wine and dance, doesn't it?"

Captain smirked.

Captain :"It's not even noon."

Himeko:"That's the best time,"

she teased, nudging him with her elbow.

Rita, overhearing, leaned slightly toward him and whispered,

Rita:"I could find a rooftop café later, Quiet, Lovely view, You'd like it."

Captain blinked.

Captain:"Are you two competing?"

Himeko:"No," both said in unison—then exchanged a small, amused glance.

[Second Stop: Bookstore Shenanigans]

Inside a cozy little bookstore on a side street, Bronya was flipping through a book on quantum theory while Theresa stood on a stepstool trying to reach the top shelf… for a Cookbook.

Theresa:"I said I was the adult!" she muttered.

Bronya:"You also said carrot cake was a vegetable,"

Bronya replied, not looking up.

Kiana burst in moments later holding three novels and a snack bag.

Kiana:"I'm investing in education and snacks!"

Mei raised a brow.

Mei:"Did you buy a cookbook called 'How to Bake Using Only a Microwave'?"

Theresa:"I'm an innovator."

[Third Stop: Afternoon Tea]

The group gathered at a fancy tearoom for a peaceful break.

Rita delicately poured tea for everyone.

Rita:"One lump or two, Captain?"

Himeko slid a pastry his way with a wink.

Himeko:"Or would you prefer a little sweetness from me?"

Captain tried not to choke on his tea.

Theresa sat beside him, arms crossed.

Theresa:"Can we not hit on the Captain while we're eating scones?"

 Rita:"But it's tradition,"

Rita smiled.

Himeko:"Exactly,"

Himeko nodded.

Kiana, chewing a mouthful of cake, gave a thumbs-up.

Kiana:"I approve of romance with pastries."

Mei, sipping calmly, muttered,

Mei:"Why did I agree to this again…"

[Evening Glow in Hyde Park]

As the sun began to dip low, the team wandered through Hyde Park, watching swans glide along the Serpentine and the golden hues reflect in the water.

Bronya and Theresa sat on a bench, sharing a rare peaceful silence.

Kiana ran ahead to chase a squirrel, with Mei jogging after her yelling,

Kiana:"Don't feed it chocolate!"

Meanwhile, Captain strolled quietly along the path.

Rita linked her arm with his, soft and warm.

Rita:"Today was… unexpectedly nice."

From the other side, Himeko appeared holding two hot coffees, passing one to the Captain.

Captain:"I admit, this no-chaos thing is growing on me."

Captain looked between the two, clearly amused.

Captain:"Glad you're both enjoying yourselves."

They each leaned a little closer.

Himeko:"No fair, you're in the middle,"

Himeko smirked.

Rita:"Perfect positioning," Rita said sweetly.

[The Walk Back]

The sky turned lavender as they walked back toward the hotel.

Laughs echoed down the street—Kiana reciting squirrel facts, Theresa plotting a cocoa heist, Mei gently dragging them along.

The city didn't feel so big with all of them together.

No Honkai beasts, No missions, Just a perfect, calm day.

And as they reached the hotel steps, Captain turned to see them all—talking, smiling, warm in their coats under the London sky.

He smiled.

Tomorrow could bring anything.

But for tonight?

It was peace.

Would you like a continuation where they do something fun the next day too—maybe a cozy museum visit, a rainy afternoon stuck indoors, or even a karaoke night?
