Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 : Lost History

As he descended the mountain, his steps steady and unhurried, he began to reflect on the true nature of this world.

This was Azure Planet—a world far larger, more vast, and more complex than Blue Planet, the place he once called home.

Millions of years ago, this world had been watched over by 108 Gods and Goddesses, divine beings who oversaw the lives of mortals. Yet, despite their power, they were meant to be mere observers, never to interfere with the natural course of life.

For a time, all was well. The world thrived, civilizations rose, and it eventually reached an era akin to the Middle Ages of his former world.

But then, one god made a fateful choice.

This deity, unable to resist the allure of human existence, descended upon the land. And in doing so, he shattered the delicate balance of power.

What followed was a war unlike any before. The gods, once watchers, became rivals, consumed by jealousy, greed, and ambition. They fought and fought, their divine clashes reshaping the land, boiling the seas, and turning the sky itself into a battlefield.

In the end, nothing remained.

Every living being was annihilated. The very world they had sworn to protect was reduced to nothing but ash and ruin.

Only when it was too late did the gods realize their folly.

With no other choice, they made a final, desperate sacrifice—offering up their own divine essence to create a single, all-encompassing force:

The Divine Will.

This Will was unlike them. It had no body, no emotions, no desires—only a single, unwavering purpose:

To nurture Azure Planet and its inhabitants.

The Divine Will saw all life as equal, as its children, free from the whims of gods. But when it awoke, there was nothing left to protect.

The gods were gone. The world was barren. And so, for the first time, a true divine was left completely alone.

Eras passed.

Time, endless and merciless, flowed on.

But no matter how long it waited, life never returned to Azure Planet.

Desperate, like a grieving mother longing for her lost children, the Divine Will wandered the cosmos. It watched as other worlds flourished and crumbled, as civilizations rose and fell, as stars were born and died.

It saw gods ruling other realms, shaping fate as they pleased. Yet, no matter where it looked, the same cycle of creation and destruction repeated.

And so, it made a decision.

It would not wait for life to return.

It would bring life back itself.

Thus began the great summoning.

Beings from countless other worlds were called forth and brought to Azure Planet, given a place to settle and grow. Over time, their descendants began to forget their origins, claiming themselves as natives of this land.

But to Rei, they were just like him—summoned souls, nothing more and for them who got summoned from them are nown as summoned beings..

However, unlike the gods of the past, the Divine Will did not rule over its people.

It did something entirely different.

It created a System—a structure akin to a game, granting certain individuals the power to awaken.

Those who received a System became known as Awakeners.

But awakeners were not limited to humans. Trees, animals, monsters—even the land itself—could awaken.

Yet, not all who were summoned to this world received an awakening. Some remained ordinary, known as Commons, living without the power to challenge fate.

It was a system designed not for fairness, but for balance.

Those who awaken in this world experience something unlike anything on their previous planets—a floating window appearing before their eyes, visible only to them.

A System Profile.

In that translucent, hovering interface, they can see their stats—strength, agility, intelligence—all quantified into numerical values. It also displays their skills, abilities, and level, offering a simplified yet detailed overview of their growth and potential.

The Divine Will created this System, but not in the way most might expect.

It is not a rigid, game-like structure designed to restrict or dictate paths. Instead, it is merely a tool, a neutral framework for analysing progress, encouraging self-improvement, and adapting to the user's own choices. The System does not force anyone into a predefined mold; it simply records, observes, and responds to how they shape their own destiny. The Divine Will is a neutral, impartial entity that created the system as a tool to monitor and support the development of life on Azure Planet. it's simply offering a framework for growth.

One can see his/her level and skills on the system Profile. When Rei first arrived in this world and awakened, he was Level 3.

His stats appeared before him in clear, organized numbers, listing his basic attributes. But what stood out most were his skills:

Running (Lv.8), Sleeping (Lv.12), Reading (Lv.51), Memorizing (Lv.58)

Here, everyday skills—things any normal person from his old world might have.

Skills, however, were divided into two categories:

Common Skills – Passive or active abilities developed through practice and effort (e.g., running, crafting, persuasion).

Mana-Based Skills – Abilities fueled by magical energy, often requiring an understanding of mana flow (e.g., fire magic, spirit manipulation).

All skills, regardless of type, could level up, reflecting one's proficiency and control over them. But improving wasn't just about skill usage—it was about understanding and mastery.

But 'Divine Will' transcends normal understanding. Experience can be gained through various activities, such as running, eating, sleeping, solving problems, creating, inventing, speaking, and making plans. However, the amount and effect of experience gained vary. Even eating elixirs, hunting, or killing can contribute to gaining experience. It is said that the total number of ways to gain experience has not yet been determined. Occasionally, a new method is discovered, whether it is effective or not. However, killing and fighting remain among the top and most effective methods of leveling up, both for combatants and non-combatants

The Divine Will might not see killing as inherently negative, because its purpose is to nurture and ensure the survival and prosperity of Azure Planet. The Divine Will is more focused on the balance and growth of the ecosystem of the planet. To it, death is a natural part of the cycle, just as important as life. It's not about personal suffering or destruction, but about the constant flow of life—some beings grow stronger through conflict, while others pass on, enriching the world's energies. The Divine Will may view death not as an end, but as a necessary transition, and it's not personally invested in individuals in the way humans would be. Some inhabitants Or summoned Beings view killing as morally complex. Some might justify it as a necessity for growth, while others may question the system and the ethical implications of it. System design doesn't force anyone to kill—it's simply a tool to help beings progress in their own way, without guiding them toward or away from certain paths.

But to be surprise,, that killing is not the only way to level up—it's simply one of many options available to the Awakeners. You could establish that the system gives many non-violent ways to grow (e.g., intellectual development, cooperation, discovery, peaceful achievements), which would make it clear that the Divine Will doesn't favor violence. In fact, the Divine Will may actually encourage a variety of growth paths and might even have a preference for diversity in how its children grow.

For example

A healer might gain EXP by curing illness.

A scholar could grow stronger through knowledge and discovery.

A craftsman could reach new heights by creating revolutionary artifacts.

The Divine Will, in its infinite neutrality, encourages diversity—not all paths must be paved with blood and battle.

But in a world where power dictates fate…

It is up to each individual to decide their own truth.

In this world, there were no restrictions on the class one could choose or the skills one could learn.

An archer could master cooking if he wished, and with enough dedication, he could surpass even professional chefs. A warrior could delve into alchemy, while a mage could learn blacksmithing. The system did not limit potential—it merely provided the framework for growth.

However, this freedom came with its own challenges.

Skills were not learned in an instant. Upon acquiring a new skill, an imprint would form in one's mind—a fragment of knowledge containing the fundamentals of the ability, how to practice it, and how to refine it over time.

But mere knowledge wasn't enough.

Mastery required effort.

Practice, experience, and experimentation determined how well one could truly wield their abilities. There were no shortcuts—one could not simply rely on teammates to gain experience without effort. If someone was strong, it was because they had earned it—through their own strength, perseverance, and intellect.

There is common knowledge among the people: the one who is able to open the final gate of the World Tower will get the choice to return to their world. Many reach that point—some choose to return, while others choose to stay and ascend to the position of a god in their world. They aren't actual gods but envoys of the Divine Will. They help the Divine Will manage and maintain peace in the world. Thus, the origin of the Holy Churches came into existence, where these beings are worshiped as gods.

Rei continued walking, his mind lost in memories of the past.

He had no sense of time, no awareness of his surroundings. His feet simply moved forward, one step after another.

Day turned to night. Night turned to day.

He walked without stopping.
