Chapter 16 - All it takes is a simple glance

{Music Recommendation: Suga's Interlude ~ Halsey & Suga (BTS)}

"Go and bring more hairpins, they've bought everything here."

Jenna stood by the corner, watching as Rhane either lifted the young maidens from the ground or fixed their hair.

Though she was able to sell off her goods, she felt bad for him. He was being used by these women, which was the reason she had taken him away from the nurse they met earlier.

As night came, the crowd finally dispersed, most of the maidens asking Rhane to come again next time, promising to buy everything he sold.

Jenna and her crew returned to her stall to close for the day. Other workers looked pleased, but not Jenna and Percy, though for different reasons.

Jenna was scared people would use the young man, and she wouldn't be able to protect him, while Percy, on the other side of the door, was jealous the attention wasn't on him.

"Who made Anne leave the stall to go hawk around the goods?" Jenna asked.

Everyone turned to look at Percy, who was staring at his feet.

"Percy?" Jenna narrowed her eyes.

The young man raised his face. "It's not...I wasn't...the thing is, Bruno needed help with lifting the bags, so I—"

"Percy! Haven't I asked you to stop picking on Anne?" Jenna barked. She wasn't happy about using people.

Everyone in the stall became calm. Rhane settled his eyes on Jenna, his head moving slightly to the side when he noticed she was really angry.

"The rest of you, close the stall and return home. Percy, follow me!" Jenna's voice was so hard, and her anger was uncontrollable. When she started walking and noticed Rhane behind her, she pointed at him.

"You stay back! I wish you would get your memory back and end all of this already! I feel like a fool." Jenna hissed before walking away.

Rhane took a step back, but his eyes followed Jenna until she was out of sight. Yet, he didn't look away, nor did his blank stare give away anything.

Percy ran after her, rubbing his hands together. He could tell his mistress wasn't very happy.

"I haven't seen the lady that angry before," Bruno muttered before going to pack the bags back into their position.

Mabel and Harriet, who had been speaking in hushed tones, turned to Rhane.

"Anne...um, we were thinking. If you could help us wash the mistress's clothes at the river," Mabel, the older girl, asked.

Henri frowned. "Is a man allowed to go there? I heard women bathe while washing."

"Anne won't care, and we'll make sure to keep him safe," Harriet chirped, adding to Mabel's words.

Rhane wasn't listening to them. His eyes were still on the path Jenna had taken. He wanted to move, but Jenna had clearly asked him not to.

"Be careful. You already know the master isn't happy," Bruno said, shaking his head as he wasn't happy about the idea.

The two girls, who were already eager to show off Rhane to other young girls, excitedly packed the lunch basket.

"Let's go, Anne," they gestured as they left the stall.

Inside Jenna's small house, she stood in front of her door with a sullen Percy, who wouldn't raise his face.

"Percy, I don't need that attention to myself right now. I already have too much of it. And...look at what people are saying," Jenna raised her hands.

"Using a man who lost his memory will bring more taint to my image. Can we not just live calmly until Anne goes away or finds his family? Why do you make things difficult?"

Percy bowed, his voice cracking as he spoke. "I- I'm sorry, My lady," he was truly sorry.

"You've always been helpful to me. Can you remain that way and not make me think about you too?" Jenna was pleading.

Percy nodded. "I should have known better. I'm sorry, My Lady." He apologized.

"Percy, I really hate to raise my voice at you," Jenna mouthed, pulling him into a warm hug.

"Let's do better."

Percy closed his eyes and returned the hug. He had been so drunk in jealousy that he forgot how good his mistress was to him.

"Now go have something to eat. Today has been stressful for us all," Jenna pulled away from the hug and patted him.

Percy bowed and left, leaving Jenna alone to calm her nerves. It was then she remembered how she had raised her voice at Rhane.

"Oh no, where is he?" Jenna left her room in search of Percy, running back to the stall where she met only one person.

"Henri, where is everyone?" Jenna asked, her eyes scanning for Rhane.

"Bruno went back home. Mabel and Harriet went to the river to wash," Henri replied before locking the stall.

Jenna nodded, not that she didn't care about her other workers, but: "Anne? Where is he?"

"Oh, Mabel and Harriet took him to the river."

Jenna widened her eyes. "To the what?" She didn't wait for the man to respond; she dashed out from there, making her way to the small river everyone around used for washing.

From a distance, even before Jenna could arrive, she heard girls giggling, and she knew the reason.

"Anne...duck!" The young girls, now dressed in revealing clothes, sprayed water on themselves and especially on Rhane.

Rhane sat on a rock, his gaze dull as he stared at nobody in particular.

"Look at his chest," one of the girls giggled before throwing a handful of water at him, then running back into the river, pretending to wash.

When Jenna arrived at the scene, she closed her eyes and exhaled. She opened her mouth to scream his name, but someone stepped forward.

Jenna moved her head to the side, trying to see clearer who she had come for, but the young girl in front of her blocked her view. Jenna finally gave the girl attention.

She knew exactly who it was—it was Beth, the chief merchant's daughter.

"Jenna, do you want something?" Beth asked, her tone condescending.

Jenna ignored the girl's question. "Move from my face."

"Why? So you can end our fun?" Beth scowled. "Your servants said he isn't even your man, so why do you stop other potential unmarried young girls from meeting him? You know a lot of us are unmarried, right? And we wish to find a man to remain in our marriage." The girl stressed the word remain just to taunt Jenna.

Knowing how the girl and her father were towards her, Jenna ignored her.

"Anne, come here right now."

Rhane turned his head the moment he heard Jenna's voice. He stood up and walked over to her.

"Anne, go back and sit down," Beth commanded, with her arms folded on her chest.

Even Rhane stopped to look at the girl properly before he walked over to Jenna.

"Let's go." Jenna grabbed Rhane by the wrist and dragged him out of there.

Beth fumed as Jenna and the young man left, her face burning with anger. "I'm going to make him mine, you'll see, Jenna. You'll see that no man can reject what's between a woman's leg," the young girl muttered before turning to join others in the river.

Jenna didn't stop walking until she got to her room and banged the door shut. Then she let go of him.

"Why were you sitting there and letting them play around with you?!"

Rhane blinked. "It's my punishment for making the master angry."

"Oh, heavens help me. What am I going to do with you?" Jenna sighed, rubbing her forehead tiredly. She looked at the young man again, his entire clothes soaked with water.

Jenna realized they were the same worn-out clothes he had been wearing since the day she found him, and so far, she hadn't seen him take a good bath. She entered her bathroom. When she returned, she said to him,

"Follow me," she led him inside her bathroom, "There's water thereto bath with and a change of shirt, I don't have something your size but the shirt would do."

Rhane glanced at the water in the bath then at Jenna. He began to remove his clothes and Jenna took it as a cue to turn around and leave.

Once Rhane entered the bathtub, he began to wash his body, with his body a little to big to sit in the small tub. Rhane stood up and had his bath while standing.

Jenna who had been pacing back and forth outside wondering if he was using the bath right, peeked for a fleeting moment and she saw him.

Naked!

Jenna turned her eyes away immediately but that curious voice forced her to look again. Jenna's heart increased in pace, as she watched the young man in his full figure.

The wetness of his body added to his allure. His hair falling to his face, the sturdy muscles around his waist running down to his....

Jenna gulped. She moved away from the bathroom and went to sit on her bed. She wasn't supposed to be looking at him. Yet now sitting on her bed, Jenna felt hotness in between her legs.

As the thought of Rhane's body lingered in Jenna's mind she found her hand slipping into her trouser and settling in between her core.

"Mm," Jenna moaned when she touched her own essence. It's been long she actually felt a man's touch and most days she helped herself by working so hard to forget it.

It was rare for her to think something like this. Yet today, after a stressful day and seeing a man as tanned, muscular and handsome as Rhane. Jenna wanted to feel like a woman.

Listening to the water trickle down from inside the bathroom, Jenna imagined Rhane's body as she spread her leg wider rubbing her core. Her movement started gentle then faster following the rhythm as her waist thrust back and forth on the bed.

Jenna pushed her fingers deeper, throwing her head back when she felt her orgasm. With one dip thrust, she closed her eyes and moaned.

"Anne..."

"Yes master," Rhane who had just finished bathing answered.
