Chapter 350 - Chapter 351: The Final Guardian

The spectral warrior loomed before Ochieng, its presence an embodiment of all the trials he had faced. It did not speak, nor did it threaten—it simply stood, waiting, its sword of pure light humming with raw energy. The Crown of Ascension lay behind it, gleaming in the dim glow of the chamber.

Ochieng took a deep breath, feeling the weight of his journey pressing down on him. Every battle, every scar, every moment of suffering had led to this. His hands clenched into fists, muscles coiled like a predator ready to strike.

Then the guardian moved.

It was not a step, nor a lunge, but a seamless blur of motion, its blade slicing through the air with terrifying speed. Ochieng barely dodged, twisting his body just in time to avoid being cut in half. The wind pressure from the swing alone sent cracks spiderwebbing across the stone floor beneath him.

"This is the difference between me and the Peak."

The realization hit him hard. Despite his growth, despite his mastery, he was still below this entity's level. This wasn't a test of endurance—it was a test of overcoming the impossible.

The guardian attacked again. Faster. Stronger. Its strikes were relentless, each one carrying the weight of an entire battlefield. Ochieng countered with everything he had, weaving through the onslaught, his body moving purely on instinct. But he could feel the gap between them, a chasm so vast it threatened to swallow him whole.

A blade of light grazed his side. Pain seared through his ribs. He gritted his teeth.

"I refuse to lose here."

Then, something shifted.

Deep within him, a forgotten ember roared to life. It was the culmination of his suffering, his anger, his will to not be looked down upon again.

His eyes flashed gold.

Time slowed.

For the first time, he saw the movements of the guardian clearly—not as a blur, but as a perfect sequence of attacks. His mind processed the strikes before they came, his body moving in response before his enemy even completed its motion.

The next attack came—and he stepped into it.

Instead of dodging, he met the strike head-on, deflecting the spectral blade with his bare hand. A shockwave rippled through the chamber, sending cracks through the walls. The guardian hesitated, as if sensing the shift.

Ochieng moved.

He twisted into the guardian's defenses, his first strike cracking through its shimmering armor. A second blow sent fissures running through its chest. A third—a devastating, full-force punch—shattered the entity into fragments of light.

Silence.

The chamber trembled. The ancient runes flickered and died, as if acknowledging his victory.

Ochieng stood there, panting, his body marked with battle but his spirit untouchable.

Then, the Crown of Ascension pulsed with energy.

It lifted into the air and hovered before him, the runes inscribed on it shifting in strange patterns. Slowly, it descended onto his head, fitting perfectly.

Power surged through him.

Every fiber of his being burned as ancient knowledge poured into his mind—techniques long lost to time, martial secrets buried beneath history. His muscles screamed, his veins pulsed with raw energy, and his soul seemed to crack apart, only to be reforged stronger.

Then, it was over.

Ochieng opened his eyes.

The golden hue was no longer just a flicker—it was permanent.

He exhaled slowly, flexing his fingers. The air around him vibrated subtly, as if the world itself acknowledged his transformation.

"I've done it."

"I have ascended."

But before he could relish the moment, the ancient chamber began to crumble. The Forgotten Sanctuary was collapsing.

Without hesitation, Ochieng turned and sprinted toward the exit, his speed now almost inhuman. Stones crashed behind him, dust filling the air, but he moved effortlessly, slipping past falling debris as if they were nothing but mist.

As he neared the final corridor, a figure suddenly appeared before him—Nia.

She was waiting, her expression unreadable.

"You made it," she said softly, watching him with an intensity that made his newly awakened power hum in response.

Ochieng didn't slow. As he reached her, he grabbed her hand—and together, they leapt into the darkness, just as the sanctuary collapsed behind them.

Outside, under the vast sky, the wind howled through the mountains.

Ochieng stood tall, no longer the man he was when he first arrived.

The city awaited.

And so did his enemies.

A war was coming.

But now… he was ready.
