Chapter 14 - CHAPTER-14

Underwater Battle: Reika vs. Naraku no Oni – Demon of the Abyss

The abyss was a crushing void, pulling at her every movement. The water surrounded her like a heavy shroud, oppressive and cold, making each motion feel like wading through cement. In the distance, faint light trickled from above, illuminating nothing but an endless stretch of darkness.

A blood-curdling screech shattered the stillness of the deep.

The sound echoed through the water, unnatural and haunting. Reika's instincts flared. Creatures—pale, twisted figures with glowing eyes—emerged from the depths. Their bodies were long, sinuous, their jagged teeth gleaming like daggers in the murky light. Their movements were swift, predatory.

Without hesitation, Reika gripped her katana tightly, muscles coiling in preparation.

The first creature lunged, its tail a deadly blur. She ducked, twisting away at the last moment, narrowly avoiding its strike. The tail slashed through the water with enough force to rip the current apart, spinning Reika in the opposite direction.

She recovered in an instant, her blade flashing as it tore through the first creature's skull. Dark blood spiraled in a chaotic whirlpool.

But there was no time for victory.

The creatures came in waves, faster, more coordinated. The pressure of the water, the weight bearing down on her—everything dragged at her. The relentless assault felt like it would never end. Their eyes glowed with malicious intent, and she could feel her breath becoming shallow, her limbs burning from the cold.

Fight. Move. Survive.

A clawed hand swiped at her, sharp and deadly. She parried with her katana's hilt, deflecting the blow, but another beast appeared from above. Its jaws snapped at her throat.

She spun, slicing through its chest in one fluid motion. The creature's body disappeared into the abyss, swallowed by the dark.

But they never stopped. More. Always more.

The pressure mounted, the weight of the water pushing down on her, sapping her strength. Her movements became slower, more labored. But her will remained unbroken.

Her katana flashed again, cutting through the water with deadly precision. One after another, the creatures fell, sinking into the abyss like discarded refuse.

But then, pain.

A tail lashed across her leg, throwing her backward. The water spun around her, her grip on the katana slipping. Her breath came in ragged gasps. Her body screamed in protest, but she wouldn't stop.

Another creature lunged, its jaws closing in on her throat.

There was no time to dodge.

Reika's katana flashed, spinning in the water like a vortex of steel. The water erupted in a geyser of blood, and the creatures hesitated—only for a moment.

SLASH.

Silence.

Reika hovered in the still water, her chest heaving with exhaustion. Blood swirled around her, staining the abyss. The moment stretched on, but then—deep beneath the surface—a rumble.

Something massive stirred.

Naraku no Kyoshin – Abyssal Titan – Daigo & Ishigo's Last Stand

The frozen lake cracked, the sound like thunder as something immense stirred beneath. The earth trembled, the very surface splitting under the pressure of a monstrous presence.

Then it rose.

A gargantuan figure broke through the surface of the ice, its form a shifting mass of darkness and abyssal symbols. Its eyes glowed like molten fire, and its maw was lined with jagged teeth, an endless chasm of hunger. The air warped around it, heavy with a palpable, suffocating malice.

It roared.

The sound tore through the air, deafening, as if the very heavens were cracking open. Ice shattered, sending debris spiraling into the abyss below. The titan moved with terrifying speed, its tail a deadly weapon of destruction.

Ishigo's grip tightened around his katana, blood dripping from his wounds. "What the hell is that thing?"

Daigo's grin never faltered, though his eyes betrayed a flicker of uncertainty. "Ugly as hell, but we'll take it down."

Before they could move, the titan's massive tail swung toward them, the force like a tidal wave. Ishigo was hurled through the air, slamming against jagged rocks. Blood spilled from his mouth, his katana slipping from his grip.

Daigo dodged the next strike, his body moving with an agility born from desperation. His side was sliced open by the tail's edge, but he didn't stop.

"COME ON! LET'S DANCE!" Daigo screamed, charging at the titan. His katana cleaved through the creature's flesh, black ichor spraying like ink.

The titan howled in pain, but it retaliated with bone-shattering force. Its claws raked across Daigo's chest, and he staggered, but the pain only seemed to fuel his madness.

"I'M NOT DONE YET!" Daigo bellowed.

Ishigo's body fought him, refusing to move, but he forced himself to stand. Blood dripped down his face, his vision swimming, but the sight of Daigo's madness pushed him forward. His fingers wrapped around his katana once more, eyes narrowing in determination.

"Daigo!" Ishigo shouted, his voice raspy with pain. "You need to stop!"

But Daigo didn't hear him—or didn't care. He laughed, wild and unhinged, as the titan's jaws gaped open, preparing to devour him whole.

"THEN DIE WITH ME, BRO!" Daigo shouted.

Ishigo knew what he had to do.

He moved faster than ever before.

The moment the titan's maw descended, Ishigo's katana flashed. It struck the beast's throat in one clean, final motion. Simultaneously, Daigo's katana pierced the titan's eye.

The abyss trembled as the titan thrashed in its death throes. But it was too late. The creature's body went limp, sinking into the water like a dying god.

Silence.

The water calmed. The two men stood, battered, bloodied, but victorious.

Daigo's laughter shattered the quiet. "HAH! DID YOU SEE THAT?!"

Ishigo exhaled, his voice steady despite the pain. "Yeah… we did it."

They swam to the surface, gasping for air as the fractured ice above let in a sliver of light. They were no longer just survivors. They had become something monstrous. And the abyss would never forget their names.

Reika's Encounter

The surface broke. Reika stood on the edge of the battlefield, her coat billowing in the wind. Her stance was calm, controlled—but her eyes betrayed something deeper.

Ishigo, bloodied and bruised, forced a grin despite the agony coursing through him. "Reika, were you… worried about us?"

Her gaze flickered to him, but her expression remained unreadable. Her fingers twitched ever so slightly, betraying her calm composure.

"I'm fine," she said, her voice cold and distant.

Ishigo felt the weight of her words, the unspoken distance between them. He noticed the way her eyes scanned the battlefield—the carnage, the bloodstained ice. She didn't flinch. She didn't speak. She simply watched.

Then, her voice came again, a whisper lost in the wind.

"How many more times?"

The question hung in the air, heavy, unspoken. She wasn't asking about the battle, but about the endless cycle of violence—about the toll it was taking on them.

Her gaze met his, and for a fleeting moment, he saw it. The weariness in her eyes. The silent pain beneath her stoic facade.

No one answered. Not yet.
