Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 – That time I got transmigrated into your body, Adrian and Theo

I know what you're thinking. How did I come to this world? Did I die? Get mugged? Or suffer the classic fate of being hit by a truck?

Well, sorry to disappoint, but I don't have a cool origin story. I didn't die. I wasn't reborn. I was just… asleep.

I had been resting under a tree, basking in the warm glow of the setting sun. It was peaceful. Serene. Then, the moment I opened my eyes—

I was here. I was him.

My first memory upon arriving in this world was hazy. A vision—of a woman sitting on a golden throne. She was breathtakingly beautiful, with emerald hair that shimmered on her sholders. But beyond that, I couldn't describe her. It was as if my mind couldn't process what I was seeing, like I was staring at something beyond human comprehension.

She had a kind smile, yet her eyes were filled with sorrow.

Heavy chains bound her to the throne, shackling her in place.

"Please… help him."

Her voice echoed in my mind, laced with desperation.

"Don't let him disappear. Don't let him be a puppet of fate."

I barely understood what she meant, and I had a thousand questions. But there wasn't time. She was already fading.

So I answered.

"I will. Leave it to me."

And then, I transmigrated.

Our existences merged. I became him, and he became me. Together, we became stronger.

With his devotion and my knowledge, we surpassed everyone in our generation. Even those destined to be Avatars couldn't keep up with us. Fate itself could not brush us aside.

I fought for my people. I protected those I loved, my friends, my family.

But in defying fate, I unknowingly unraveled my sister's.

To balance the scales, she awakened earlier as an Avatar. Even so, I remained strong enough to rival her. Our parents, blinded by their belief that the world's will mattered more than their own child, did everything they could to place her on the throne while making me her subordinate.

And then, on that fateful day, everything came crashing down.

My sister challenged me to a duel once more. But something felt different this time.

Midway through our battle, my body slowed. My movements became sluggish, unresponsive. Before I could react, she immobilized me.

Then, she pulled out a dagger.

"Forgive me, brother. This is the only way I can keep you by my side."

Her voice trembled, but her resolve did not waver.

"I have to take away what makes you different… what makes you strong. I will erase the one who tries to change our destiny."

The dagger pulsed with divine energy.

"This blade has the power to harm only what I desire."

Her grip tightened.

"I will kill the transmigrator… and things will return to how they were meant to be."

Well, you can probably guess what happened next.

But even as I was being erased, I couldn't leave him alone.

Even if we were different people, we had become a single existence. When she tore me away, she damaged his soul, erasing a part of him completely. He probably wouldn't even realize what had happened. At worst, he might become an empty husk, a hollow shell of what he once was.

So, I enacted the last emergency countermeasure through the System.

I forced him onto a path where he would have no choice but to risk his life, where he would be forced to reclaim his lost instincts. A path that would eventually lead him to Vermaris, to that dungeon, on the exact same day the main antagonist was meant to be born.

The System allowed me to hold on until now. Just long enough for a final conversation.

Just long enough… to say goodbye.

And so, I stood before him one last time.
