"Again, Lukas." The Abbott said, patiently. "You can get this."
I focused on the glass ball in front of me. It stubbornly refused to light up.
"You're still thinking like a mage, Lukas. You need to think like a priest."
The episode with Remly had piqued my curiosity about godbotherer magic. The Abbott was very generously giving me a practical lesson on it.
A lesson I was failing.
"It would be easier if I didn't have my goddess laughing at me from the altar," I said sourly.
"You had to be bad at something, my love." She said, grinning widely. "Now we know what it is."
"The goddess is right, lad." the Abbott said, shaking his head. "I'm afraid you have no talent at all when it comes to divine magic."
I focused on the orb and it lit with strong, clear golden light.
"I can light it easily enough, sir," I said frustrated. "But what you're asking goes against all my training."
The Abbott tapped the ball and the magic dispersed.
