Chapter 56 - Chapter 55

The atmosphere in the carriage was frosty. 

We were making good time, and Rowan was certain we'd make the Golden Leaf border before nightfall. 

Anna wasn't talking to me. 

"Princess, I took Rowan with me. I was perfectly safe."

"Rowan carried you in on his back." The princess said, her eyes flashing. 

"Not my fault. He could have floated me up to my rooms and avoided this whole mess."

A deluge of water threatened to drown me. A particularly icy deluge of water. 

That was exactly the wrong thing to say. 

I wiped the water from my eyes. 

Miss Rita had lifted her feet from the floor of the carriage and had turned to face the carriage door, legs resting on the chair. 

Anna's shoes were dry. She'd managed to keep the water from around her. 

I would have been impressed if I hadn't been so annoyed. 

"Oh?" I said. And concentrated. 

She expected retaliation and thought she was ready for it. She wasn't expecting rocks.
