Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

Here he was, sitting in an office like he was a little schoolboy again. Tobias may be a grown man now, but the thought of being in trouble scared the shit out of him. These people were definitely sketchy. god, they were gonna kill him! It was fine, he was trained to be a mob boss, just shoot 'em! … then again, he was the biggest coward he knew; he'd start crying before he could even grab his gun. So there he sat, awaiting his sad, pathetic fate. He jumped when the door opened, revealing Kenneth, smiling at him.

"Sorry about that, old sport, but just had to talk to you." He walked over to his desk, sitting down. Tobias could feel his eyes raking over him, sizing him up.

"So… what's a mafia guy like you doing here?" Tobias tensed at the question, reaching for his gun but-

"Looking for this, kid?" Kenneth asked, spinning Tobias' gun with a finger. Tobias froze, eyes widening. How the hell did he get that? It was just on him. Kenneth sighed and slid the gun across the desk to him.

"Look, you seem like a good kid… but I'm guessing you heard pretty much everything, hmm?" Kenneth asked, pulling out a box of cigars, and offering one to Tobias, who shook his head and just pulled out his cigarettes.

"Yeah… what is this circus?" Tobias asked, taking a drag off his cigarette, coughing a bit.

"Well, we here are… Old Sport, you shouldn't smoke, I can tell you don't do it much. I know I sound hypocritical, but you're young, your lungs are good, live a long life, kid." Kenneth said this all, then proceeded to take a drag of his cigar. Tobias decided to just snuff out his cigarette in the ashtray.

"You're avoiding my question, now answer me." Kenneth sighed at this, taking one more puff before deciding to answer.

"Well kid, This circus is a time travlin' one. We go all over, different time periods, time lines, all that." Tobias just stared at him dumbfounded, before bursting out laughing.

"A TIME TRAVLING CIRCUS!? What do you take me for? A complete idiot? HA!" Tobias almost fell out of his chair, and hit a picture frame on the desk, making it almost fall over itself. Kenneth quickly grabbed it, making sure it was okay before sighing. Tobias stopped , and glanced at the photo. It was of a women with very short black hair, and these lovely grey eyes, and a little baby girl in a pink dress with a tuff of ginger hair, and greyish blue eyes.

"Who are they?" Tobias asked. Kenneth let out another sigh, this one the sound of a man utterly smitten.

"That there is my wife, Velvet, and our daughter, Lottie. Aren't my girls just the cutest?" Tobias was a bit caught off guard by the obvious love and feeling in his voice.

"Yeah… I mean, your wife looks… very nice?" How the hell was he supposed to talk about a man's wife and child? Kenneth just laughed.

"Look at us! Getting off topic yet again old sport!" Kenneth smiled, and contiuned on.

"But, i'm not lying, this circus does time-travel. In fact, me and my sister are from the 30's! You've met Betty." Tobias couldn't believe it.

"Prove it" Was all Tobias could say, which made Kenneth laugh again.

"Well, i'd say if you can, leave with your wealth this century, everything is gonna crash…" Kenneth took one last drag of his cigar and put it out. Tobias just sat there confused, silent.

"So, now you know, so i'd like to offer you something, old sport" Kenneth leaned over more on the desk.

"How about you come join us?"

"Your out of your god damn mind! Your crazy! There is no such thing as time-travel! I'm leaving!" Tobias stood up, and was about to walk away when Kenneth grabbed his arm.

"Just.. think about it, old sport?" Tobias could see his sad gaze as he pulled his arm away, and left the office tent. Right outside, he saw Betty again, who glared at him. She had her arms crossed, and her hair was now down, which went all the way down to the back of her knees.

"He's trying to help you, you inconsiderate ass" She snarled, which made Tobias take a step back. He was about to speak when she spoke again, her tone more snappy.

"We'll be back tomorrow, make up you mind, now out" She physically dragged him to right outside the gates and threw him outside. Tobias turned to yell at her, to find the whole square clear, no more circus in sight.
