Ava invested the week into thoroughly cleaning and rearranging her house—her job took most of her time and she only did surface cleaning. Now she had all the time in the world, she spent her evenings reading books.Thankfully she had restocked on supplies before the social media hullabaloo—which was the straw that broke the camels back—happened.
By Sunday, her house was sparkling and she needed something else to take her mind off the recent happenings. She was fixing herself breakfast when she began to think about the entirety of her life. Confusion clouded her mind as she thought of a way forward. Of course she could distract herself from the happenings in her life but for how long? She desperately wished her mom was there, her mom always had a solution and exactly just the right words for every situation. All the tears she'd held back during the week started to pour out like a flood when a sudden thought to pray hit her mind. Why pray? She asked herself chuckling, why pray to the same God who let her parents die brutally ten years ago? She had been angry at God all this years and had practically cut him off of her life. "My dear girl, whenever you're in a fix and you don't know what to do, pray. God can do anything,he parted the waters for Moses when he didn't know what to do,he turned water into sweet wine at a wedding ceremony where the wine finished and the servants didn't know what to do, this same God calmed the storm when the disciples thought they were going to drown. Don't forget he loves you and would always work things out for your good"—this were the words of advice her mother gave her when she was leaving home for college. Her mom would have wanted her to pray in such a situation as this. "Dear Lord, please show me a way out" she said admist her tears—she really needed a divine intervention.

"No one has seen or heard from her in the last week sir, our intelligence team were also not able to trace any digital activity from her phone or bank cards" said the voice from the other end of Carter's phone. He felt his heart thud, she was the only ticket he had to triumph in the current situation,"Get me her contact address"
"Just a minute sir".
After getting her address, Carter picked up his car keys, his driver was usually off work on Sundays,he chose a less exotic car so he wouldn't attract any form of attention,he took a face cap and and a pair of sunglasses just in case.
Ava lived in a decent area,he recognized her car after he had driven past the sixth house on her street. He put on his sunglasses and alighted to confirm her house number, when he did,he started towards the front door. It didn't look like anyone was around,he rang the door bell but there was no response, when he had rung twice with still no response,he tried peering through the windows but the blinds were down. A surge of worry hit him, where could she be? He thought about the back door and walked to the side of his house, crossed over the short fence, few steps in he saw her relaxing on a summer chair under a large tree.
On getting there he saw her fast asleep with a slice of cucumber on one eye and the other slightly under the second eye she was also wearing a blue robe and a hair bonnet. A snort of laughter escaped him from his lips,he hardly laughed but she got him always—for someone whose face was every where on the media, this was rather ridiculous.
Ava woke up as soon as she sensed that someone was standing over her, she gently took out the cucumbers and peeled off the face mask as she sat up, steading a non-chalant gaze on Carter.
"Marry me" he blurted, not knowing how to start up a conversation. He watched as her eyes widened and her lips curved into a disbelieving smile that tugged his heart.
"Good afternoon to you too sir" she said and began to walk briskly towards her back door. God really? Not this kind of way out please!
He called after her confused. She was trying to shut the door, when he got to her,he leaned on her door with pleading eyes, not knowing the right words to say.
"Have a nice day Mr Ross" she said closing the door in one swift move but carter let out a pained groan, she looked down to see his index finger stuck in between the door—the horror!
