Chapter 70: What Is That Boy Doing?
Any special skills?
The leaders of the four major universities, with such talent and strength, had to come in groups.
Very cautious?
In that picture, when Jiang Tian and Xue Ruyan were walking, they merely looked left and right while still walking on the main road.
Meanwhile, the other students who opted for free movement formed formations, tried to conceal themselves as much as possible, and divided into two groups, light and dark, to slowly explore the terrain.
But since she was Xue Xiao's niece, everyone could only say nice things to humor her.
Everyone was even more puzzled—how could Huang Hui be so optimistic about such a reckless duo?
Could Jiang Tian really have something extraordinary about him?
Seeing everyone's confused expressions, especially Xue Xiao's, Huang Hui laughed secretly in his heart.
The teacher had instructed that after the martial arts college entrance examination began, Jiang Tian should be allowed to display his talents and demonstrate his abilities.
Jiang Tian's terrifying talent had to remain hidden to prevent his premature demise and the tragedy of losing a peerless genius.
An elaborate lie had to be crafted to conceal Jiang Tian's power while still protecting him.
For a lie to be believable, it had to be mostly true, with deception only at the most crucial points.
The truth that Jiang Tian needed to show was that he was gifted and a powerful genius.
The lie? That he was not an ultimate, invincible monster.
"Something's going to happen!" someone suddenly exclaimed.
At the same time, on several projection screens, the footage showing Jiang Tian and Xue Ruyan began to zoom in.
The monitoring array detected spiritual energy fluctuations and predicted an imminent battle. It automatically magnified the screen to allow the examination team to observe more closely.
Xue Xiao, who had been preparing to question Huang Hui, now clenched her fists, her heart aching.
She wanted to rush out and rescue her niece immediately, but her duty forced her to stand still.
Huang Hui, on the other hand, remained completely relaxed. He silently watched the projection screen and thought, Show your true skills, future chef apprentice. Let these aliens experience the horror of facing a chef!
In the footage, Jiang Tian and Xue Ruyan walked beside a steaming pool.
The Huotang Small World was named as such because it had little land but extremely abundant water resources.
Pools and rivers were everywhere, but the water was scalding hot. An ordinary person falling in would be skinned alive if not boiled to death.
"Wow wow wow!" A strange cry echoed as two figures suddenly leaped out of the boiling pool.
They were fiery-red frogmen, each about half the height of a human. Their round bodies looked deceptively cute, but the long forks in their hands were not to be underestimated.
The Fire Frog Clan was one of the alien races inhabiting the Huotang Small World. Though they possessed some intelligence, their status was extremely low.
They were mere laborers and cannon fodder in the Huotang Small World.
However, the danger of alien races lay in the fact that even these low-level workers possessed significant strength.
Their aura alone made it clear that these two Fire Frogs had already reached level 1.
As they jumped out, the boiling pool water splashed toward Xue Ruyan.
But instead of panicking, Xue Ruyan calmly unleashed her blood energy, dispersing the liquid midair.
The boiling water, which had been about to scald her, suddenly froze in place before splashing back into the pool.
"Hmph!" Xue Ruyan snorted, sweeping her spear forward.
Ding! Ding!
Two metallic clangs rang out as her spear clashed with the Fire Frogs' long forks.
The force of her attack made their weapons vibrate violently, nearly knocking them out of their hands.
The two Fire Frogs were also repelled mid-air.
Without hesitation, Xue Ruyan stepped forward and thrust her spear.
The attack was as fast as lightning, a hazy red glow surrounding the spear tip as it accelerated and increased in power.
Phew!
The spear pierced through one of the Fire Frogs, dulling the light in its wide eyes. Its grip on the long fork loosened as it fell lifelessly.
The other Fire Frog, instead of retreating, screamed and lunged forward, its long fork aimed at Xue Ruyan's throat.
But Xue Ruyan swiftly swung her spear, using the dead Fire Frog's body as a projectile to slam into the oncoming enemy.
Caught off guard, the second Fire Frog staggered back.
Xue Ruyan seized the opportunity, thrusting her spear once again.
One technique was enough to ensure victory.
The spear pierced through the Fire Frog's head, killing it instantly.
Puff! Puff! Puff!
But before she could relax, movement rippled across the boiling pool.
Three more Fire Frogs—stronger than the previous two—emerged, brandishing their long forks.
Their aura was even more powerful.
Xue Ruyan remained calm, even slightly disappointed that the previous fight had ended so quickly.
Inside the monitoring room, the examiners were amazed.
"Qi Refiner!" one of the middle-aged examiners exclaimed.
A special class—a Qi Refiner had the qualities of both a warrior and a mind cultivator.
They could control objects midair using blood energy while also engaging in direct combat.
"Her combat performance is on par with the top four seeded candidates."
"Maybe even better. She's a Qi Refiner."
The examiners praised her abilities, acknowledging why the duo had dared to act alone.
But then their expressions changed.
Why was that boy just standing in the back, watching the fight?
And clapping?
What was he doing?
While Xue Ruyan's skills were impressive, these three stronger Fire Frogs would be much tougher opponents.
If she couldn't end the fight quickly, more Fire Frogs would arrive, overwhelming them.
Even if the boy decided to step in later, it would be too late.
This was the person Huang Hui believed in?
Xue Xiao was just as shocked. She hadn't realized her niece had grown so strong.
But something didn't make sense.
In her memory, Xue Ruyan was talented but not at the level of a genius.
Her performance now was strange.
She wasn't reckless—if she was confident enough to act freely, she must have gained something remarkable.
Puff puff puff...
Suddenly, more figures emerged from the boiling pool.
More Fire Frogs leaped out, brandishing their long forks and surrounding both Jiang Tian and Xue Ruyan.
There were at least a dozen of them.
"Uh-oh."
"This is bad. That boy should have helped earlier."
"They've delayed too long. Even if they try to escape now, it'll be difficult. Fire Frogs are fast jumpers—they won't shake them off easily."
"Escape? They're completely surrounded!"
