All Might, the symbol of peace, is Japan's greatest hero and perhaps the best hero in the world. The man has inspired multiple generations to pursue a career in heroism, and the people of Japan were convinced that there was nothing that could stop him.
However, they were wrong. Were they to see such a great man having been reduced to nothing but a shell of his former self, they would surely be struck with intense grief.
Skinny body and stick-like arms, barely having any muscle to speak off, His facial cheeks were sunk into his mouth, revealing his cheekbones, and his once bright blue eyes were hollow, long having lost their luster, the man looked like a walking corpse. No longer what he used to be.
At the moment All Might was in the Headmaster's office, his body looked like a corpse-like figure, sunken onto the couch and facing a particularly big white mouse that served as the Headmaster of UA University.
"So how are we feeling today, Toshinori"
The mouse spoke, his tone very chipper and happy, one could tell just by the tone that the Headmaster wasn't too serious.
"I am here! Aren't I?"
Toshinori joked while flexing his scrawny arms, "I am here" was a catchphrase he used whenever he was at the scene; it helped put civilians at peace, and outside of being a hero, he tended to use it as a joke.
"hm yes, I do hope you find our institution, to your liking then"
Nezu responded. Headmaster Nezu was a particularly unique individual as he was not a human, but instead, a mouse, a white mouse with a large scar on the side of his face, Nezu was a rare case of animals developing a quirk, and because of that quirk, he's an extremely intelligent creature.
"I've liked it so far, but honestly, I'm a little apprehensive about giving my quirk to one of the students here"
All Might expressed as his eyes began looking down at the floor. He couldn't help but feel a little guilty about the fact of placing such a burden on someone who would be so young.
"Is that so? Do you think they would not be able to handle it?"
Nezu asked in honest curiosity. As the headmaster of such a prestigious hero University, he had faith in the ability of his student body.
The mouse took a sip of his tea; if he were to be completely honest, he was quite extremely shocked to find out that the most powerful hero in Japan had a quirk that could be passed from one person to another and that fact brought a bit of concern.
'if his judgment is wrong and he chooses wrong and that student becomes a villain, that would be a disaster'
Nezu inwardly thought, All Might was perhaps amongst the most powerful heroes in the world. If a potential villain got a hold of such power, there'd be few who could stop them
Nezu couldn't help but think about which of the students in UA were the most suited for inheriting the quirk. it was important that All Might choose the right candidate.
"That's part of it, but also because this quirk has a long history of conflict, by becoming my successor, the students would essentially be inheriting everything from me, including my enemies"
All Might expressed as much, his tone conveying his worry and hesitation. He also knew that becoming a hero would have an intense strain on the body and mind. A young man or woman barely at the age of adulthood could have a hard time handling that sort of thing.
"I understand what you mean, All Might. However, our students are much more resilient than the average hero, and I assure you they can handle it. In the event, they can't. We are here as teachers to guide them and lead them towards the correct path of being a hero."
Nezu uttered with more than the necessary positivity in his voice. The mouse was a firm believer in the idea that nurture can overcome nature, and with competent guidance and good teachers, anyone can be a hero.
"I suppose you're right, but Headmaster, if I may ask a question"
"Go ahead"
Nezu allowed before he took a sip of his tea and savored its magnificent taste.
"In the current age, there's certainly an over-saturation of heroes. Do you think something like a symbol of peace is even necessary?"
He questioned the intelligent rodent, before his debut the power balance between heroes and villains was fairly even with the villains having the upper hand, however the moment he arrived, he not only made villains give up their ways but forced some into hiding, he also popularized being a hero and every child everywhere wished to be a hero.
He essentially sparked the golden age of heroism.
In the present, a symbol was unnecessary as there was more than enough to keep the status quo.
"An interesting question All Might, I can not say I haven't thought about it. In fact, in the current age, it can be argued that even institutions like UA are unnecessary"
Nezu responded while staring at his half-empty cup of tea; he certainly disagreed that UA was unnecessary; however, he understood the argument.
"But I wouldn't say a symbol of peace is unnecessary. In fact, I believe all ages and generations, it's necessary to have such a symbol. People need to have that sense of security even if it's unnecessary"
Nezu explained, and All Might sighed; he didn't ask that question because he disagreed with the need for a symbol of peace, but he thought there were fewer villains now than in the past and perhaps maybe he could be the last.
His greatest enemy had been defeated, and he himself was a shell of his former self. By all accounts, finally taking a break was all that was left. However, he understood that things are never that easy or simple.
"I suppose it's always been about giving the citizens a sense of security. that's what being a hero has always been about"
All Might said with a smile, but he couldn't help but figure that maybe he asked the question because he just wanted someone to tell him that he wasn't needed anymore.
Nezu gave him a nod before taking a sip from his tea.
"Moving back on topic, could you tell me which of the students stand out to you. Which ones you'd recommend to be best suited for my power"
All Might decided to move the conversation back to its original point.
"I do have three candidates, however, I think we shouldn't limit ourselves to just a few, you're going to be teaching, use that to assess the various students in this university and we can discuss your picks at length later"
Nezu advised the man, although the so-called big 3 were certainly good candidates, they weren't the only options available and more thorough though needed to be put into picking the right candidate.
"That makes sense; thanks for your time, Headmaster Nezu."
All Might said as much before he stood up and took a bow before slowly transforming into a tall, muscle man with a perpetual smile on his face.
"But now it's time for me to teach!"
He said with enthusiasm as he made his way towards the door, with Nezu wishing him good luck as he exited.
"I wonder if he would let me ride on top of his head, I bet he can reach high places with that height."
The mouse said to himself, letting a small chuckle as he said. For a mouse, he was big; however, he was still shorter than even a human child.

A/N: Honestly I've never entertained the idea of daily uploads, mostly because I'm lazy, however recently I thought maybe it would be a good idea to get out my comfort zone a bit so, I'll try it, so expect a chapter tomorrow.
If i don't post, feel free to insult me because if i don't post its probably because I got lazy.
also I just found this out, Monster oe energy drinks like Monster don't mix well with milk, makes the milk foamy, almost like sour milk or yogurt.
To be hero X just might be peak.
