It's been five months since I finally figured out how to use chantless magic freely, and since that day, my life almost feels repeated every day like this.
I wake up in the morning as I try to move out of the crib, just to find two hands carrying me to the kitchen. There, either Mom or Lilla feeds me after that.
Lilla starts cleaning me up and changing my clothes. If the room is warm, she will wash me with a warm, wet towel. (This world is not very civilized on this regard.)
After that, if Dad is free, he talks to me about the greatness of the sword and his adventures, but for some reason, sometimes I feel he's hinting at something in the middle of his words that adults do, especially when he is talking about Elinalisa or Ghislaine, and what proves it more that, he is only talking about these parts if Mom isn't near.
If Dad is not free, Lilla makes me choose one of the four books they've allowed me to read, and whichever I pick, she reads it to me. The first book is 'The Legend of Perigruies' he is one of the heroes who sealed Satan of this world. (Laplace). But with the cost of losing five of his comrades in the fight against him. And this book tells his story of fighting the demon, and the trip of fighting demons and the enemy generals and most of his henchmen. Describing the book in one sentence: a fairy tale story for strong individuals and their heroic sacrifice to save humanity from the evil demons of this world.
The next book is 'The Three Swordsmen and the Labyrinth'. It talks about swordsmen and their styles. And apparently the style Dad calls "the rat style" is 'the North God Style'. Which the creator of the style is Perigruies' surviving comrade. And Dad's favorite style is 'Sword God Style' known with very strong offense and weak defense, as its logic. And from the very low information I got about the style, I can say the people who favor this style are musclehead people. (With the utmost respect to my father.)
The style philosophy quite literally says: "Attack now, think later." (No comment.) I hope Dad doesn't fight with this style against an unbeatable opponent.
The second style is the 'Water God Style' and from my way in life, I think I will be a great user of that style. The style known logic is, defend first then counterattack. It depends on people's fast thinking and precise reactions. Also it's the perfect counter for the Sword God Style, and it's a rare feat if two swordsmen - one from Sword God Style and the other from Water God Style fights, and the winner be the Sword God Style user. When both are on the same level of power.
(Also for some reason Lilla looks at this style's poses illustration, with melancholy. Was she some kind of swordswoman?)
Lastly, the North God Style, also known as ruffians style or the rat style according to Dad, the style isn't orthodox by any means; this style depends on creating tactics and adapting to circumstances in middle of fighting. (Like my past life - isn't that a good thing? Then why is the style hated?)
Also some people who aren't using the sword, but using the style still get the title, but it's a rare thing. And apparently there is something called 'fighting spirit' and in this world using it the swordsmen get stronger and sturdier, which makes high level ones almost unbeatable. Also this style is the counter to Water God Style but very weak against Sword God Style. Is it some kind of loop? Like rock, paper, and scissors game?
As for labyrinths
This book covers labyrinths: how they form, what to expect inside, and how to boost your survival chances. It emphasizes the most crucial preparations for any labyrinth, and explains how to reach the boss room and the best way to clear a labyrinth. Also in some cases, the boss room is called the 'Arena Battlefield,' where entry means no escape until the boss is slain. The book also details potential treasures, what to realistically expect, and what not to hope for. (For example, in early rooms may contain a magical monster called a Mimic, which disguises itself as a chest, the book advises: in the first floors the best thing to do is breaking chests from a distance to avoid danger.)
Also ot talks in detail about the three swordsmen adventure in the unbeatable labyrinths they cleared by themselves and enjoys the treasures.
However, the book doesn't focus heavily on labyrinths. Instead, it prioritizes swordsmanship, featuring advanced-level poses and illustrations. As it focus more in recounting the original Sword Gods' expedition through an "unbeatable" labyrinth before concluding with limited labyrinth insights. This book describes sword styles and labyrinth details. Also, it's the only book Dad reads to me. (But the book leave many unanswered questions both about Lilla, and labyrinths dad on his story telling alone told me four times the information).
Describing this book: Sword styles and Labyrinths Details.
Ignoring the many unanswered questions that book gave me, the next one is Fittioa Region Monsters: Ecosystem and Their Weaknesses. And one of monsters in the book even explains the scar on Father's chest. Apparently there are normal animals like in my past world, but with the mana effect they transform into monsters. This region has two kinds of monsters commonly found: hunting dogs which are oversized wolves that can stand up and fight in packs that can reach number of thirty if unattended. The next one is terminator boar which usually will be the leader of either former monster or normal boars. It's very strong compared to the former, reaching the rank of C-rank monsters; it rarely fights in groups, only if a strong terminator boar appears and controls a pack of them.
Both monsters have very strong limbs and strong fangs - avoidable at all costs, good to note. Their guts and necks are their weak points. Sometimes on rare occasions, something called mutated monster has something called mana stone. Which is apparently used as mana fast rechargeable way for magicians, but they need detoxify magic after that, and for beginners they must expect to vomit, and the very weak people are expected to vomit blood. And strongest C-rank monster mana stone can recharge up to three advanced spells. And weakest in C-rank is one advanced spell at least.
Mana stones are said to have almost all uses in everything but never explained in detail in this book. Last good info in the book is that all monsters' meats are edible but the terminator one is tasty. Except for the goblin meat which needs detoxify magic to remove its poisonous nature.
The next book is Traveling Around the World. This book is illustrated, and on some of its late pages even has the drawing of this world, and apparently this one is flat. Almost 20% of my past world would be celebrating if they were in my place now. Okay, in this world there are five continents, and one big sea in the middle called Ringus Sea. There are small islands and small seas but they are not mentioned with details in the book.
Okay, for the important stuff: in this world there are six used languages which are known as:
- Human God Tongue
- Beast God Tongue
- Fighting God Tongue
- Demon God Tongue
- Sea God Tongue
- Sky God Tongue
Excuse the 'God Tongue' said with every language - like the swordsmen book also means people love the name god in their names in this world. The strongest person from every race or fighting style is usually called god, with his style or race. Like Laplace the Demon God of this world. Or like North God, the strongest person in North God Style who had the name, and apparently he is either immortal or this name is inherited between very strong individuals. Before forgetting, there are rare languages like the Migurdian race on the Demon Continent, or hand language in the Central Continent, or the most rare one is the Dragon God Tongue which went extinct with the race but some of their ruins can still be found and their language is sculpted there. (It's like Egyptian hieroglyphics about pharaohs.)
Also there are many races in this world but the most numerous are:
1. Humans (which I'm from)
2. Beast people - mix between people and animals (some people go crazy seeing them - not interested in them by the way)
3. Demon races - too many to count, many extinct or nearly extinct, all scared of the bogeymen of this world, the Superds (they were Laplace's henchmen in the last war, killing everything that moves)
4. Sea people - not very open-minded with other races, especially humans because of bad blood from ancient times called the Second Demon War (equivalent to WWII in this world, 3000 years ago)
5. Sky people - very isolated, sometimes accept kind-hearted humans after years of tests, only respect friends of Perigruies
6. Extinct races like the dragon race - last known was Urupen who sacrificed himself against Laplace
With all this reading, I can proudly read Human Tongue in this world, which I think is a rare feat at this age - but I'm not normal in the first place. Also on some rare occasions Mom left the fifth book, Magic, in front of me unattended. So I can read it, and I read it in silence, and Mom usually takes the book away before Dad comes home.
Magic in this world, like swordsmanship, has seven levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Saint, King, Emperor, and God. In this book the strongest spells are four advanced level spells:
- Earth Fortress (defensive earth spell)
- Blizzard Storm (water weather spell)
- Sonic Boom (wind spell)
- Exodus Flames (fire spell)
I memorized all non-fire beginner level chants:
- Water: Water Ball, Water Arrow, Ice Sword, Ice Lance
- Earth: Earth Lance, Earth Bullet
- Wind: Gust, Wind Slice, Wind Ball
And I can use them in secret:
- Water Ball: use on dirty diapers
- Ice Sword: lick then let melt in sun
- Earth Bullets: hold in hand like ammunition
- Air spells: no visible effects without targets
Also worth mentioning - I can now use magic from all four limbs and can feel mana as it's called in this world. Also there are circuits throughout my body, really like nervous system but combined with circulatory system. I still can't understand how strange the inside structure of humans is in this world - when I'm old enough maybe I'll dissect a human body. For science reasons I will explore it.
Also I can overcharge spells, like how I overcharged healing my lung with intermediate healing spell Voola. After a full year and some natural fast healing of children, the hole in my lung is no longer producing pain, but a very small almost unnoticeable one remains.
Also my mana reserves are nothing like said in the book where they claim mana is set since birth. My mana reserve triples every day. I think I can sustain X-Healing for three minutes straight without mana exhaustion. And apparently my sleepy state that I create with magic is called magic exhaustion. I shouldn't push myself too much because I might die if I did.
Also for some reason I can overpower my spells or make them weaker. One time I was using X-Healing and got the idea of overloading the spell with all my mana in one go. Thankfully Lilla had closed the door and left, and Mom and Dad were busy, because I unintentionally made the whole house glow green for three seconds. As for the effect, it healed my lung by 10% in one go.
If I do it twice more I think I'll be a healthy child, but it's high risk high return. From what I understand, Dad and Mom made a promise that I will be a knight like Dad. But if I want to pursue magic, that means I would have to drop the sword. If you want my opinion, I want both - but unfortunately this world doesn't know that term yet.
Also something I realized about the North God - he's a user of gravity magic which I can't find any information about. My inner child has almost 1000 ideas of how to use it but I'll have to wait until I can discover its secret. The only new secret I discovered on my own is that you can release mana without releasing a spell, which is useless. Like why would I sacrifice my mana for no reason except if I want to waste it daily without raising suspicions.
When I hit a bottleneck or do something amazing in magic, I'll tell my family. Also since I started walking I've tried to walk as much as possible. Now I can climb up and down the house stairs on my own, and I can almost run for five meters before falling to my knees (but I continue crawling the last bit). My crawling speed is almost 1m/s. When running, I can crawl-run for 20 minutes without problems. Lilla told me she was scared of me always appearing next to her, under her, or right behind her. Thinking about it, I was scaring her for no reason, so I solved that bad habit (I think).
Also I make an ice sword in secret and repeat low-level moves that Dad does. To describe it: very hard, my arms are almost always sore. But my arm strength and grip got better, and unintentionally it improved my writing grip. In secret, I think I can call myself literate since I can write and read every single word in Human Tongue.
Well, it's good I have great talent for learning languages. That's a new high score - in one year I can read, write, and even talk in a new language. Everyone in the house thinks I can barely read letters, but being reincarnated I fully understand how to build words with what I know. I still have problems with double meaning words though.
Also, since the day Mom caught Paul teaching me the Greyrat way with females, she started teaching me Millis faith whenever she got the chance. (Father, one day I will get my revenge on you for making Mom blame me for something I'm still 17 years too early for.)
Also to my disappointment, they don't celebrate birthdays yearly in this world. They just remark that today is my birthday, nothing more. (What cheapskates - or did they just expect me to die and so forgot about my birthday?)
Also I started calling Mom "mommy" and its effect is unbelievable - almost scary. With this I can ask anything and expect yes as an answer. And if asking for something I know she wants to refuse, I go for the next option: calling her pretty, adding please to my words. Don't ask me how, but somehow I can now make stars appear in my eyes when asking for favors. Believe me, with this I got her to stop feeding me both the traditional way and nursing way. Finally after that, the whole household agreed to treat me as grown up.
(I should have listened to my high school teacher who advised me to pursue acting professionally, not just as a hobby. I could literally control the whole house alone.)
Also I started calling Lilla "Ms. Lilla" for the simple reason that I owe her a big favor. If she told my family everything, I'd be in trouble. She protested at first when I called her respectfully, but when she realized why, she kept silent.
When angry with Paul I call him "father"; in normal situations, "dad". I'm saving "daddy" for a big occasion or favor. Otherwise I know how to control him by asking for sword advice or praising his swordsmanship.
Honestly, I love all of them very much. I can't live without any of them. In this one year I've grown very fond of them all.
Well, today is my birthday. In this world you can't leave the house before you're at least one year old because of fear of illness, curses, and tradition (apparently this comes from this world's dark ages).
Also I asked Dad to show me swordsmanship from now on, and Mom was happiest that I didn't need her healing for five months. When she realized I was finally cured, she hugged me very tightly, cracking two of my ribs for the second time. (I'm scared - I think I'm gonna cry for real.)
Also I did catch Lilla doing questionable things in the master bedroom, but I just moved away silently. When Mom was going to the next floor, I made noise. Lilla realized I helped her - she smiled and nodded before continuing her work. (I feel like I repaid 1% of my debt.)
About the house: four rooms upstairs including Dad's study and a guest room, leaving just my room and my parents' big room. I want to suggest thicker walls without raising suspicion, or at least getting them to close the door. (I hate my new photographic memory.)
My room is spacious for me, and I love the free space. I just hope they expand the house or move before I get a third brother or fourth sister, because I don't want to share a room with curious siblings asking what "that noise" is. (I wouldn't be able to answer.)
Don't blame me if I tell them they're playing. The problem is if my sibling asks to play the same game - very bad idea. If I say they're arguing (since they say bad words while "sleeping" together), I might traumatize the child. Maybe "I don't know" is best, but then they might interrupt to ask. Still bad. Ahhh...
(My head hurts from thinking. Didn't they slow down five months ago? Why did they stop?)
And that's how my life has been and what I've done in this period: finished four books, became literate in a new language, explored the house fully, grasped everyone's personalities, and my first birthday is no different except for a fancier dinner table, and they included me in the numbers of plates.
