Klaus returned to the palace with Lisa and accompanied her to her chambers but didn't go in.
"Go to sleep," he said, and she nodded.
Now, she knew she was safe if she went out because Vorgath or the other demons wouldn't try to hurt her, and she really appreciated that.
"Thanks," she said. Klaus turned to leave, but she added, "It's a good thing your son took over you."
Klaus turned to her with a confused look.
"I mean Prince Ethan. He is really nice," she explained, and Klaus nodded before choosing to walk away instead of disappearing on her, as she hated that so much.
He walked out of the palace and headed to Ethan's quarters. There, he found Ethan practicing with his sword in the yard. Ethan quickly stopped once he noticed Klaus.
"Is there anything I can do for you, Father?" Ethan asked, but Klaus walked to the table at the side, picked up a sword, and pointed it at him.
"Let's see how good your sword skills are now," Klaus said, aiming the sword at him. Ethan blocked it and struck back, but Klaus stood firmly in one spot, using only his left hand, and pushed him aside before his sword slightly grazed Ethan's cheek.
"When will you ever use both hands to fight me?" Ethan asked angrily, and Klaus shook his head.
"When you are worthy," he answered. Ethan clenched his fists, wondering when he would ever be appreciated by this man he called a father.
He had to train hard every day just to be worthy of being a prince, but it was never enough.
"Lisa is off-limits," Klaus warned, and Ethan chuckled.
"I just had a conversation with her… She is nice."
"She has a clean soul… maybe the cleanest so far," Ethan added, taking off his gloves. "The devil really loves a clean soul." Ethan chuckled but was sent flying into the air as Klaus kicked him.
Ethan stood up and launched an attack at Klaus, but Klaus grabbed him by the neck.
"You lost your guard on the battlefield. Never drop your sword first—not even when the enemy offers you a peace treaty," Klaus explained, and Ethan nodded. It was just a sword fight with his father, so why did he have to be so careful?
"You know Lisa is going to be mine, right?" Ethan questioned, and Klaus glared at him.
"You are leaving this world soon, and I will be king. It's my right to take care of all your brides," Ethan reminded his father that he didn't have much time left to live. His face was already gone, his soul the same. Now, he was just a dead man parading around.
"Hmm… Watch out for Vorgath. He is your enemy," Klaus stated before disappearing. Ethan sighed.
"I will take good care of your bride, Father," he muttered.

The next morning, Lisa woke up feeling much better than she had in days. She was no longer scared and chuckled when she reminisced about the look Vorgath had the previous day.
"Lady Lisa," Helen called from the door. Lisa sighed before walking off the bed and signaling for Helen to come in.
"I will prepare your bath," Helen said, and Lisa nodded.
"I want to have breakfast with Klaus, so please be quick." Lisa had a bright smile on her face, and it caused Helen to chuckle.
"Of course."
Helen quickly prepared a bath for Lisa. Once she was freshened up, Lisa slipped into a beautiful black dress and sat before the mirror as Helen brushed her hair.
"Lady Lisa," a voice echoed from the door. Beckam stood there with a wide smile before walking up to Lisa. "How are you doing?"
Lisa stared at Beckam in disbelief. "Does she know I can feel her emotions toward me?" Lisa thought. Beckam's act was just ridiculous when Lisa knew very well that Beckam didn't like her. Well, she decided to go with the flow.
"I am good."
"Why don't you come with me today? There's this amazing activity in the city, and all the queens are invited," Beckam explained in an excited tone. Lisa's gaze moved to Helen, as if trying to confirm if it was true. Helen nodded.
"If it doesn't bother you, then I will come along," Lisa answered, and Beckam nodded.
"Good. We leave immediately after breakfast. Trust me, it will be so fun," Beckam added before leaving. Lisa turned to Helen.
"What activity?"
"Dancing, singing, and many fun activities. One thing demons love is having fun," Helen explained, and Lisa nodded. They also had something similar in her pack. Now she missed being surrounded by people of her kind, even though she couldn't wolf out.
Lisa walked down the corridor and headed for the dining room, where she had last seen Klaus having breakfast. As expected, he sat alone at the table, eating.
"Klaus," she called and hurried to him. Due to her careless movement, she stepped on her gown and found herself falling—before strong arms grabbed her.
Lisa breathed heavily and looked up to find Klaus frowning.
"Be careful," he stated, and she stood on her feet.
"Thank you," she said, then pointed at the table. "Can I have breakfast with you?"
Lisa didn't wait for his response and quickly took her seat before digging in. Her gaze moved to him.
"Will you also attend the fun activity today? Beckam suggested we go together," she explained. Klaus didn't reply but continued eating.
When he was done, he stood up to leave, but Lisa quickly stood.
"Don't go…"
He was taken aback by her words. She was getting too comfortable with his presence.
"I mean, don't go without telling me what happened last night when you went to your chambers," she clarified. Klaus took a few steps closer to her.
"Why is he coming forward?" Lisa thought, taking an equal step back until her back hit the wall and there was no escape.
"No one looks out for me," he started, and she raised a brow. "They know I am the king and don't need protection. But in my years of living, you are the first one to ever look out for me," he admitted, a smile finding its way to his lips.
"Maybe that's why we aren't compatible," he added, and she frowned. "We're not compatible? What does that even mean?"
"The devil doesn't deserve a good person," he said, and suddenly vanished.
"We are not compatible?" Lisa thought. "What did that even mean?" She was lost.
