Chapter 90 - Chapter 89

A Taste of the Psychic World

The fried worms were surprisingly delicious—crispy, flavorful, and with a satisfying crunch. Naruto savored each bite, appreciating the unique taste and the care that had gone into preparing the dish. For him, this was more than just a meal; it was a reflection of Shima Sage's dedication and love for cooking.

"Mr. Jiraiya, you should try more," Naruto said, noticing Jiraiya's discomfort. He scooped a generous portion of worms onto Jiraiya's plate, his smile innocent but his eyes glinting with mischief.

Jiraiya stared at the plate, his face pale. "Uh… thanks, Naruto," he muttered, forcing a smile. He poked at the worms with his chopsticks, his stomach churning at the thought of eating them.

After the meal, Naruto found a quiet spot to meditate, absorbing the natural energy that permeated Mount Myōboku. The little toads hopped around him, curious about the new visitor. Naruto closed his eyes, focusing on the flow of energy within him.

The natural energy was vibrant and life-giving, but it clashed with his Reiatsu and chakra, creating a chaotic imbalance. Naruto's brow furrowed as he struggled to control the conflicting energies. Sweat beaded on his forehead as he concentrated, his breathing growing labored.

Suddenly, Kyoka Suigetsu at his side trembled, releasing a surge of powerful, domineering energy. It forcefully suppressed the natural energy, chakra, and Reiatsu, bringing them under control. Naruto's expression softened as the tension in his body eased.

With careful guidance, Naruto began to convert the natural energy into Reiatsu. The process was slow and inefficient, but he could feel his spiritual pressure growing stronger. When he finally opened his eyes, his fists clenched with determination. The training in the psychic world was far more effective than in the ninja world. If he continued, he might one day reach the level of a captain-class Shinigami.

Conversations with the Sages

While Naruto trained, Jiraiya and the sages discussed his future.

"Jiraiya, this disciple of yours is extraordinary," Fukasaku said, his tone filled with admiration. "His Bloodline Limit is unlike anything I've seen. It might even rival the Rinnegan."

Jiraiya nodded, his expression serious. "I've seen its power firsthand. It's terrifying, but it has its weaknesses. If you can block its visual effects and rely on other senses, it's possible to counter."

Fukasaku sighed. "Still, the connection to the Pure Land worries me. I fear the Bloodline Limit might backlash against him. We should consult the Great Toad Sage when he wakes."

Jiraiya agreed. "Naruto seems to thrive here. The psychic world is helping him refine his abilities."

Shima Sage smiled. "It's been lively with you two around. But it's a shame Minato's child had to grow up so fast."

The mention of Minato brought a somber mood to the conversation. Fukasaku sighed. "Time flies. Minato's son is already so strong."

Jiraiya's expression grew complex. "I won't leave Konoha until Naruto is ready. The village needs me now more than ever."

A Bond with the Sages

Over the next ten days, Naruto and Jiraiya stayed in the psychic world. Naruto's Reiatsu grew steadily, though the training was grueling. The insect-based meals, while nutritious, were a challenge for Jiraiya. Naruto, however, ate them with enthusiasm, even offering suggestions to improve the dishes.

Shima Sage was delighted by Naruto's appreciation for her cooking. The two would spend hours discussing recipes and the intricacies of insect cuisine. Jiraiya could only watch in awe, wondering how Naruto managed to stomach such meals.

Despite the strange food, Naruto found peace in the psychic world. He respected Fukasaku and Shima deeply, cherishing the time spent with them. Yet, he couldn't shake the thought that one day, he might become their enemy.

During one of their conversations, Naruto asked, "What do you think of Konoha?"

Fukasaku replied, "We don't interfere with Konoha's affairs, but we'll aid our contractors if they're in danger."

Naruto pressed further. "What if two contractors are enemies?"

Fukasaku chuckled. "Why would you and Jiraiya ever be enemies?"

Naruto shrugged. "Just a hypothetical."

Fukasaku thought for a moment. "In such a case, we'd likely remain neutral."

Naruto nodded, satisfied with the answer. But he couldn't help wondering—what if he turned against Konoha? Would Mount Myōboku stand against him?

The Path Ahead

As the days passed, Jiraiya made a decision. "Naruto, it's time for you to learn Sage Mode."

Naruto's eyes lit up. "Sage Mode?"

"Yes," Jiraiya said, his tone serious. "It's a powerful technique that combines natural energy with chakra. With your talent, you'll master it in no time."

Naruto smiled, his mind already racing with possibilities. Sage Mode could be the key to unlocking his full potential.
