Chapter 43 - Parenthood

Throughout the next couple of days, I settled into motherhood. The fact alone that Henry was here seemed so right. I would when I recovered enough to join Zoro and the boy on deck. While breastfeeding Henry, I heard a knock on the door. "Come in."

Zoro opened the door and smiled. "Hey, Momma. How are you feeling? How's our little man?"

I smiled. "I'm feeling alright. Right now, I'm feeding Henry because he's hungry." I brushed a piece of his hair from his face. I wiped some snot away from his nose. I looked at Zoro. "So, what course has Nami set for us this time?"

Zoro sat on the bed next to me, allowing Henry to squeeze his finger while I fed him. "His grip is quite strong for a newborn. He's gonna be a fighter like his mother."

After feeding Henry, I took Zoro's hand and joined him on the deck with the others. I held Henry to me once I made it on deck. "Look, bud, at the water, it's so big and goes on forever. It's what's known as the sea."

Henry cooed, pointing at the mast with curiosity.

I smiled. "That's right, buddy. That's called the mast it's what keeps the ship together. It's what holds the sails that make the ship move when there's wind."

Nami came over to Henry and me. "Hey, how's my little nephew?"

"Very curious about the ship. He has Zoro's stubbornness that's for sure. Henry doesn't like to go down for naps but once he does, he's a heavy sleeper."

Nami chuckled and took Henry from me, and walked him around the ship, telling him what makes a ship float.

Zoro came over to me and put his arms around my waist. "What's Nami doing with our son?"

I leaned against him. "Teaching him all about the Going Merry." I looked up at him. "You alright? You seem a little distant. I figured you would be happy to be a father."

Zoro smiled. "I'm excited to be a father, but I'm always on the lookout for danger." He kissed my cheek. "It's my job as a father to protect Henry."

Nami came back over to Zoro and me, handing Henry to his father. "You're not wrong, Kat. He sleeps like a rock.

Zoro took Henry from Nami, smiling. "Did you get bored with your Aunt Nami, little guy?"

Henry moaned in his sleep, gripping his father's shirt.

Zoro smiled. "Ease up on the grip, little man. You're gonna take my shirt right off." He winked at him, smirking. "Not that your mother would agure."

I looked at him. "That's the first lesson you teach him?"

"Am I wrong? Every time I walk around without my shirt on, you get excited."

"Zoro, he's only a day old. Do you want him to think he's father's a pervert?"

Zoro chuckled. "I don't hear you arguing. Besides, if anyone on this ship is a pervert, it's Sanji."

Luffy was resting on the head of the ship when he spotted something off. "Hey, guys, what's that?"

Nami looked at Luffy and followed his gaze. "It looks like an island. But what sort of island is in the middle of nowhere?"

I looked at Nami. "Every island we're been to seems to be in the middle of nowhere."

Henry started to open his eyes to his father.

Zoro smiled. "Hey, buddy. Did you have a good nap?" He kissed Henry on the forehead.

Chealse came out of the kitchen and also saw the strange landmass. She froze, getting a bad feeling about something.

I looked at her reading her face. "Cheals? Everything alright?" I followed her gaze once it landed on the landmass. "What are you so scared of?"

She looked at me. "It's the home where the Creed started."

"Ok. So?"

"You're not scared?"

I shook my head before taking Henry from Zoro to change his dipper.
