"HSSSSS!"
Baltzer hissed in warning, drawing Lucian's attention away from the structure. The remaining titans had formed a semicircle around them, cutting off retreat. But strangely, they weren't attacking. They stood motionless, eyes fixed on the stone hall.
"They're waiting for something," Lucian muttered, his grip tightening on Dragon Soul Devourer.
As if in response to his words, the massive stone doors began to move. No visible mechanism drove them, no hands pushed them open. They simply... shifted, stone grinding against stone with a sound like mountains collapsing.
The gap between the doors widened slowly, revealing absolute darkness within. Then, a tremor ran through the ground, followed by another, and another rhythmic, deliberate. Footsteps.
From the darkness emerged titans unlike any Lucian had seen before.
These were not the mindless creatures Lucian had battled with previously. They seemed to follow orders and were coordinated!
