Chapter 17 - Fated to meet again

'At least, I can make use of the spells I learned while reading the Guide to Survival in the Game book,' the girl on the other end thought.

Immediately, her hands began to shimmer bright purple color. She looked up into the sky, before bringing her eyes down again. Her eyes now turned purple as well.

With a sharp move, she spanked the floor with her glowing hands, creating ripples on the ground that traveled toward the Energy Manipulators.

On their own side, they had conjured stones around to float in the air. As the ripples approached them with quick precision, some of them began trying to absorb the energy coming from within, to use it against [400].

Noticing what was about to happen, the girl began to think of what to do. She knew that at her level if she tried to make use of her confessor power, she was going to become weak.

"Hmph," she breathed out. Her breathing came steady as she raced in her thoughts, searching for the best way to go against her opponents.

To her, they were many. And seemed to possess mage abilities too. She didn't know their abilities were geared from the Qi they absorbed during cultivation. If only she knew, she might try to use a counterspell.

The ripples of energy created by the girl still surged forward, causing the ground to tremble beneath the Manipulators.

Some of them struggled against the force, the actions from their strive billowing their robes as they absorbed the energy in an attempt to redirect it against the girl. Others conjured stones to levitate, aiming their attacks with lethal intent and precision.

A deep rumble followed, echoing across the field as a massive boulder, formed from combining the conjured stones with collective energy, shot through the air [400].

Looking at the impending doom, the girl's eyes flared into a deeper purple as she slammed the palms of her hands together, summoning a translucent barrier in front of her.

"DUUUMM!"

The collision produced an impact that sent shockwaves outward, forming cracks across the protective barrier. In the blink of an eye, the barrier shattered, together with the boulder, which scattered into debris in all directions. Dust clouded the space between them, momentarily obscuring her vision.

The moment attracted Dimm's and Minxx's attention, as they now left their discussion and focused on what was going on in the battle.

"The girl is a mage?" Minxx said with shock.

"That's what it seems like," Dimm commented. "Possible, like I said initially, she might be a monster. A beautiful ape monster."

"There aren't beautiful apes," Minxx argued. "And apes don't have her kind of body physique."

The two of them turned their faces at the same time to meet with the girl's. "The route?" They said in unison.

"No, I don't think so," Dimm protested.

"It can possibly be. The route always worked in strange ways," Minxx explained. "But then, the possibility is on its minimal, cause, for a girl in the survivor rank to release that form of power was—"

"I told you," Dimm interrupted. "She's a human monster."

"..."

Meanwhile, the battle between the girl and the cultivators was taking a turn. The cloud of dust that had gushed forth from the impact of the boulder and the barrier she created caused her to cough and step back.

Victory seemed to be within her reach when she regained her stance, only to notice that the cultivators had all fallen to the ground.

A wide grin spread across her lips as she conjured two small balls of purple energy in her hands, about to cast them forth. But, just as she was about to take action, a chilling presence swept over her.

She momentarily stopped her conjuring, and from the shadows, the initiates of the Soul Cultivators emerged.

"This is looking more like a fantasy," Dimm commented, smiling with contempt at how the battle was engaging enough.

"Shhh," Minxx said, with her index finger over his lips. "We are about to gain victory."

At the end of the battle, the presence of the Soul Cultivators alone shifted the tides of the battle. Their figures came in the hooded form, their aura pulsating with blue flames as they surrounded the girl.

Their emotionless eyes bore into her, brimming with power. The girl clenched her fists, knowing she had no choice.

"I don't want to use this..." she whispered to herself, taking a deep breath. "Okay."

At that instant, she activated her confessor ability. The ability allowed her to listen to the thoughts of others and also control their minds to work as she wanted.

Activating this ability, she extended her senses into the minds of the elves surrounding her, until her consciousness latched onto the thoughts of one of them. She got her. So, she willed her mind to break under her control.

The elf's stance faltered, her expression twisting in conflict before her eyes glazed over. Before she knew it, she turned abruptly, striking one of her own comrades.

The others recoiled instantly, momentarily startled by the betrayal.

[400] who yielded this power, only sent shock flickering in the eyes of the cultivators before her. If only they knew...

Meanwhile, the girl staggered. A sharp pain coursing through her body, her energy draining rapidly. Controlling minds at her level took too much out of her.

Her knees buckled, and she collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

The remaining elves wasted no time. First, they exchanged glances with each other swiftly before acting.

One of them flicked her wrist in a deadly rotational motion, and without expectation, the confessed elf crumpled instantly, lifeless.

With their fallen members, anger flared in their eyes as they rushed forward the confessor girl summoning their energies for a final strike.

From the distance, Dimm and Minxx had been watching attentively.

"Did she just kill her comrade with a flick of the wrist?" Dimm asked. "Is that also possible in cultivation?"

"Yes, it is," Minxx replied.

"But, killing her own comrade—" Dimm was cut short.

"She didn't do it without a reason," Minxx said.

Dimm gripped his clothes as he felt a sudden sharp prick at his spine. Following, the screen notification flashed before his eyes.

«Save her!»

Without having a moment to think, he shouted, "Wait!"

"What are you doing?" Minxx asked.

"I don't know," Dimm replied, dashing forward with Minxx trailing his tracks.

The Cultivators who were about to strike hesitated, if only for a moment. If only for the fact that Minxx, their queen was with the person that had asked them to wait.

As they approached where the girl had fallen, Dimm's breath caught in his throat.

"You!" he said, with widened eyes of surprise.

This was the same girl who had helped him with the chocolate that caused his existence in the game. But, she did it out of goodwill.

Without listening to the voices of the elves, Dimm carried the girl off the ground and began to run to the housing abode of the elves.
