Chapter 27: A Farewell and a Boring Lesson

The sky was still dim, painted in soft hues of orange and purple, as Izuku and his parents stood in front of Narita International Airport. The massive structure loomed behind them, its large glass windows reflecting the early morning light. Inside, travelers bustled around, wheeling their luggage, checking flight schedules, and saying their goodbyes.

But for Izuku, the only thing that mattered right now was the man standing beside him.

Hisashi Midoriya, dressed in a casual black jacket and jeans, stood with a relaxed posture, but the way he kept glancing at Inko revealed his reluctance to leave. His luggage sat beside him, ready to be checked in, but no one in the family was in a rush to move.

Inko, on the other hand, was a mess.

Her green eyes shimmered with unshed tears, her hands clutched tightly in front of her. Even though she knew this was inevitable. Hisashi had to go back to America for work but it didn't make the goodbye any easier.

"Do you really have to leave so soon?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Hisashi smiled softly and reached out, gently cupping her cheek. "I wish I could stay longer, but duty calls. You know how it is."

Izuku watched silently, hands in his pockets. His dad had only been back for a short while, but his presence had completely changed the atmosphere in their home. Morning sparring sessions, teasing remarks, home-cooked meals and Hisashi had seamlessly blended into their lives, making it feel like he had never left.

And now he was leaving again.

Hisashi turned to him next, a smirk playing on his lips. "You gonna be alright without your old man?"

Izuku scoffed. "Tch. I should be asking you that. Who's gonna keep up with your training now?"

Hisashi chuckled. "Good point. Guess you'll just have to find a new sparring partner."

Izuku sighed, scratching the back of his head. As much as he hated to admit it, he was a little disappointed that Hisashi was leaving. Having someone to train with someone who actually pushed him to improve had been a great advantage. Now, he'd have to manage on his own.

Hisashi pulled him into a quick one-armed hug, patting his back firmly.

"Look after your mom for me," he murmured. "And be careful, alright? Don't go overdoing things."

Izuku smirked. "No promises."

Hisashi rolled his eyes but let him go. He turned back to Inko, wrapping his arms around her and holding her close. "You take care of yourself too. Eat properly. Rest properly. And no skipping meals, got it?"

Inko sniffled, nodding against his chest. "Y-Yeah..."

With one last lingering look, Hisashi grabbed his luggage, gave them both a final wave, and walked into the terminal.

Izuku and Inko stood there for a while, watching until his figure disappeared into the crowd.

Then, with a heavy sigh, Inko turned toward the exit. "Let's go home, Izuku."

It was a Quiet Night , The ride home was silent.

Inko didn't say much, simply staring out the window as the cab moved through the city streets. Izuku didn't push her to talk, he understood.

By the time they reached their apartment, she headed straight for her room without eating dinner.

Izuku thought about stopping her, but ultimately, he decided against it.

She just needed the time.

Instead, he went to his own room, collapsed onto his bed, and let exhaustion take over.

The Next Morning Izuku's alarm blared, jolting him awake. He groggily sat up, rubbing his eyes before moving into his usual morning routine.

A quick shower, stretching exercises, and a light breakfast later, he was out the door, making his way to U.A.

As he walked, he mentally went over the schedule.

Morning classes were all academic subjects. But the real fun?

That was after lunch.

Hero Basic Training.

Which meant… All Might's first lesson.

Izuku smirked to himself. He knew exactly what was coming.

But first, he had to survive English class.

Present Mic's English Class: A Lesson in Pain

When Izuku looked around the classroom, most of his classmates already looked dead inside.

Which was fair.

Because standing at the front of the room, grinning like a maniac, was Hizashi Yamada, Present Mic.

"GOOD MORNING, CLASS 1-A!" he shouted, his voice booming through the classroom like a concert speaker.

A few students winced.

"Hope you're all ready to GET YOUR ENGLISH ON! YEAHHH!"

Izuku groaned internally.

I love you, Present Mic, but please… lower the volume.

Despite the energy, the class quickly descended into boredom.

English wasn't exactly a thrilling subject, especially when most of the class struggled to keep up.

Izuku barely paid attention. He already knew enough English from his past life, so this class was basically pointless for him. Instead, he glanced around the room, watching how everyone else was handling the lesson.

Todoroki sat near the front, perfectly composed, eyes fixed on the board. Yaoyorozu was diligently taking notes, hanging onto every word.

Meanwhile…

Kirishima and Kaminari looked like they were seconds away from falling asleep.

Jiro had her chin propped on her hand, tapping her fingers rhythmically on the desk.

Bakugo was glaring at the board like it had personally offended him.

And Mineta? Mineta wasn't even pretending to care. He was doodling something in his notebook.

I wonder what he is drawing, Izuku thought to himself.

"Alright, class!" Present Mic spun around dramatically, pointing at the board. "WHO CAN TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS SENTENCE?!"

The class stared.

The board was filled with a long, confusing English sentence, and honestly? Even Izuku wasn't entirely sure what was wrong with it.

"Anyone?" Present Mic asked.

Dead silence.

Even Yaoyorozu was frowning slightly.

Todoroki finally spoke. "There's… a grammatical error?"

Present Mic beamed. "BINGO! But what kind of grammatical error?"

Todoroki blinked. "...A bad one?"

More silence.

Izuku looked at Shot with raised eyebrow, 'This guy know how to joke or did he genuinely said that...'

Present Mic laughed. "GOOD ENOUGH! Moving on!"

Izuku sighed. This is going to be a long class.

Lunchtime and What Comes Next

By the time lunch rolled around, the entire class looked drained. Even Yaoyorozu seemed slightly exhausted, which was a rare sight.

Izuku stretched as he walked toward the cafeteria, already thinking ahead.

The real fun starts after lunch.

Hero Basic Training.

Battle Training.

And of course, the hero costumes.

Izuku smirked as he grabbed his lunch tray.

This was going to be interesting.
