After what feels like an eternity of listening to stories neither Lucian nor Jackson are particularly interested in, Marcus finally stops talking.
Lucian and Jackson exchange a quick glance, one that says thank the Moon Goddess-- before they rise from their seats. They straighten up, stretching subtly as if to shake off the weight of the long-winded tales.
But just as they're about to take their leave, Marcus's voice cuts through the air, smooth and deliberate.
"Lucian, can I have a word with you?"
Lucian halts, barely managing to suppress a sigh. He was so close to escaping. He turns back, his expression neutral, though impatience and frustration bubble beneath the surface.
"Yeah, sure." He eases back into his seat, forcing a relaxed posture, though every fiber of his being is taut. His mind is already racing, what does Marcus want now?
