Everyone turned to look at the wardrobes in their own rooms. Uh… Could it be that this is how the wardrobe monster is dealt with?
Some people, seeing this, were eager to try the same. However, before they could get close, there was a faint scratching sound coming from inside the wardrobe.
Sharp, long, and piercing— It seemed to carry an indescribable sense of threat. It was as if the wardrobe was saying, "Try moving me and see what happens."
Uh… definitely not daring to move. Not everyone has confidence in themselves. Who knows what kind of special method Wan Qian used?
However, surprisingly, the noises inside the wardrobe seemed to lessen significantly as the night went on.
Later that evening, Wen Xirou lay in bed, still contemplating the contents of the notebook.
Since the previous farm owner and steward had been overthrown, the farm's work system must have changed.
What did the workers want? Appropriate working hours and adequate rest.
So, the Farm Employee Code of Conduct, Rule 1: "Overtime culture is not encouraged here, and employees are expected to leave work on time," is correct.
But the rule 3: "If they cannot meet the deadline, they may request overtime from their supervisor," is incorrect.
However, if it's the wrong rule, then why did those who were left behind to work overtime come back unharmed?
Unless they had already been contaminated, turned into ghosts and monsters, and become part of the haunted realm. But for some reason, it wasn't noticeable at the moment.
Wen Xirou quickly put down the notebook and immediately got out of bed.
Xiao Lin, startled by Wen Xirou's actions, rubbed her eyes and sat up.
"Sisther Xirou, where are you going?"
"I'm going to find Wan Qian." Wen Xirou replied while putting on her jacket and walking out the door.
Xiao Lin quickly regained consciousness, lifted the blanket, got out of bed, and followed closely behind Wen Xirou.
"Sisther Xirou, I'll go with you."
It was deep into the night, and the farm was eerily silent, not even a single insect chirping.
Wen Xirou led Xiao Lin through the dimly lit hallway, the soft light casting shadows on the floor as they walked.
They reached Wan Qian's room. To their surprise, the door was wide open.
Wen Xirou's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly pulled Xiaolin inside.
"Wan Qian!"
A faint light illuminated a pale face resting on the bed. Hearing the voice, the face lifted and turned toward Wen Xirou.
"What are you doing here in the middle of the night?"
Wan Qian turned off her phone screen. The victory sound effect from the game faded into silence as the screen went dark.
Wen Xirou glanced around the room and noticed that Jiang You was missing.
"Where's Jiang You?"
Jiang You's bed was empty, the blanket folded neatly, and the sheets smooth as if no one had ever slept there.
Wen Xirou's heart sank. Jiang You, based on her character, would never have the courage to leave on her own in the dead of night.
This only meant one thing—her suspicion was correct. Jiang You, along with the others who stayed behind for overtime, had been contaminated.
But why, then, would Wan Qian, knowing this, still sleep in the same room as Jiang You?
Could it be that… Wen Xirou raised her eyes to look at Wan Qian, not missing the fleeting complex emotion on her face.
"Sigh, her..." When it came to Jiang You, Wan Qian looked a bit embarrassed.Who would have thought that such a seemingly delicate and weak girl would be a workaholic!
When others sleepwalk, they might cook, eat, or even clean, among other things, but Jiang You? She sleepwalks to work!
What a determined work ethic! Even in her sleep, she doesn't forget to create wealth for the farm. Wan Qian sighed, feeling that as the farm owner, her passion for work couldn't even compare to that of an intern.
"She left the dorm not long ago. For the past few days, she's been going out to work every night. I've thought about stopping her, but in that state, she's too dangerous to wake up. So..."
There was no source of light, only the faint, cold moonlight streaming through the window into the room. In the dimly lit interior, leaning against the head of the bed, the voice seemed unusually deep and calm.
Yet Wen Xirou could detect an inexplicable sense of pity and apology in Wan Qian's voice.
Wen Xirou couldn't help but think that Wan Qian must have chosen to share a dormitory with Jiang You, perhaps with the intention of saving her from the very beginning.
Even though she knew Jiang You had already been contaminated, but she was still reluctant to give up. But in the end, it was too late.
"No one wants to see this happen." Wen Xirou took a step forward and gently comforted Wan Qian. "You've tried your best."
Wan Qian's guilt increased. Truthfully, she never felt she had done her best.
She had hardly cared for Jiang You when she sleepwalked in the middle of the night. Anyway, the next morning, Jiang You would always be lying in bed, completely unaware of what had happened.
Wan Qian couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. As her roommate and also the farm owner, she had shown so little care for the employees around her. What if Jiang You had encountered danger while sleepwalking outside at night?
"She shouldn't have gone too far. let's follow her and see." Driven by guilt, Wan Qian threw off her blanket, got out of bed, put on her jacket, and suggested to Wen Xirou.
"Ah... yes," Wen Xirou was still immersed in the brief moment of sadness from earlier. She paused for a moment, then quickly snapped out of it, and realized what Wan Qian had said.
In the deep night, Wan Qian led Wen Xirou and Xiao Lin out of the employee dormitory building.
Beyond the dorm, there was only one main road. They walked down the road for a short while before quickly spotting a row of shadows ahead.
