Once they were inside, he shut the door with a quiet click.
Behind the closed door, they both stood, staring at each other across the room and for at least one minute, no one uttered a word.
Richard was the first to break the silence. "You look… whole."
Shantel's lips twitched slightly. "Disappointed?"
"Suspicious," he corrected, folding his arms. What do you want to take, yea or coffee?"
"I don't think I'm in the mood for any of those."
"And what are you in the mood for… if I may ask," Richard said, eventually striding to take his seat behind the large table.
In response, Shantel held up a slim black folder and placed it on his desk. "Let's get this over with. I still need to catch an appointment after I leave here."
Richard didn't know whether he was disappointed by how cold and indifferent she sounded or the fact that she ignored his challenge.
Nonetheless, he asked calmly, "So what's in here?"
