Chapter 25 - Save / unsatisfied

The monster was a meat bag with the only instinct to grow.

For its growth, it needed a huge amount of mana. So, the monster launched itself forward when the spectre entirely made up of mana flew beside it.

The huge fleshy body rolled on the ground and moved towards the mink.

The mink on the other hand used its ability to phase through objects to dodge its tentacles and led it out of another exit on the other side of block nine.

Oliver used this chance to sneak in.

When it can't capture the mink, the monster will lose interest and might return.

He didn't have much time. He had a lot to do.

Swiftly, he moved across the filthy mucus and dirt-covered floor to reach the first target, the sac of flesh holding the people.

'Fifty in total.' Oliver scanned them and finally used his blood control ability.

Ten tentacles of blood sprouted out from behind his shoulder. It was the maximum amount of blood tentacles he could control without exhausting himself.

The tentacles moved like an extension of his body and flew.

Half of the 640L of blood he had was used to create the tentacles, so it extended to the furthest end and began pulling down the flesh sacs.

Previously, the monster used the people as a mana source. Their energy was continuously drained to supply the monster's evolution. They were also sedated unconscious.

Thus, he had to be careful when handling them.

Oliver pulled down the flesh sacs and placed them on the ground ten at a time.

It only took him a few seconds to complete the task.

'Now I need to free them.' He thought.

This time, he raised his alloy knife and walked closer.

*Swish*

He slashed.

The flesh bags were rubbery and flexible, making them difficult to cut.

*Swish*

He swung hard.

He still didn't know the identity of the person inside the flesh sac. So, he had to personally and delicately open them up one at a time.

"The chief of research!' Finally, when he cut open the first flesh sac, he exclaimed.

"A lucky find." Oliver was thrilled.

The chief was sleeping peacefully in the flesh sac, locking his hand over his chest.

"I hope you don't die easily." Oliver smiled. But beneath his smile, something dark was hidden.

However, he didn't stop.

Despite the difficulty in cutting the flesh sac, he walked around and released all the people from it.

Then, without pause, he walked to a refrigerator on one side of block 9. With practised ease, he typed in a pin and opened the refrigerator. Then, he took out vials of green liquid.

'This is it.' His smile widened.

It was the liquid the researchers injected into the children.

The memories of the children were fresh in his mind.

There were rows of it inside the refrigerator, more than a hundred placed neatly.

'This will be enough.' Oliver nodded, his lips curling up to reveal a wicked smile.

Then he turned around and found a random USB drive and accessed the computer to copy all the important data inside.

While the files were being copied, he crouched down in front of all the researchers and military personnel he remembered. One by one, the green serum was injected into their bodies.

The only ones he spared were the people who came with him for investigation and the few who were sent a day earlier.

The rest were all injected with the green liquid.

Only then did he decide to leave.

"I hope the liquid makes you feel the same pain the children felt." He said under his breath.

In his mind, he was not satisfied with the way he dealt with the situation. If only he had more time, he would have personally spent days torturing them until they wished they were dead.

Oliver felt a sense of disappointment wash over him.

"The children who you killed never wished for revenge. But, I do. This is all I could do for them. May they rest in peace."

Oliver walked back to the people he had to carry back.

"Fifteen, including the ones that came early to take blood samples. It would be difficult." Oliver muttered.

The team leader and Achara were all knocked unconscious. Although they are breathing fine, their body barely has any mana left.

Simply put, they were weak and sedated. He didn't have any way to wake them up.

"Only if I brought some detoxification pills."

"What can I say? I was just unlucky."

Oliver poured all his blood onto the ground, creating tentacles that connected him to the bodies. Then, he used the remaining blood to lift the bodies up and create a frictionless area underneath.

Carrying fifteen people alone was an impossible task. So, he decided to drag them on the floor by making use of his exceptional control over his ability.

Oliver used a method similar to how pulling a car is easier than carrying one.

"Thump"

"Boom"

*BOOM!"

Suddenly, the sound of explosions resounded throughout the area. The frustrated monster seemed to have begun to use its ability to cause explosions.

"I need to hurry."

Oliver dragged the bodies of the unconscious people with him and exited block 9.

Block 9 was in the middle of the mountain. He had to walk a long distance to reach the exit of the research outpost.

"I can only pray that the mountain king won't attack us now."

Meanwhile, south of the city, a beast horde was forming.

The mana waves created by the mountain king seemed to have sent all the beasts in the surrounding area into a frenzy.

Fortunately, help had arrived to defend the dragon city.

The thunder emperor and fist king returned to the city and stood by to defend if the mountain king attacked. While the military, Hunter Association, Superhero Monitoring Bureau and Hero Union used their manpower to strengthen the city walls.

Even if the mountain king didn't attack the city, the mana beast horde would rampage. They were expecting a difficult few days.
