Chapter 29 - The Beast Tide (4)

The battlefield was a world of constant devastation, reshaped with every clash of power. Domains and Beast Zones interwoven, creating a chaotic landscape where elements, forces, and reality themselves waged war.

Grandmaster Caelum stood firm, his Titan's Bastion extending its unbreakable will across the battlefield. Stone and metal coalesced into towering fortifications, the ground beneath him solidifying into an unyielding fortress. The pressure of his domain crushed the weaker beasts that dared approach, their bodies snapping like twigs beneath the oppressive force.

Opposite him, the Empress-ranked centipede slithered through the battlefield, her Writhe of the Abyss consuming everything in its wake. The land twisted into bottomless pits, the shadows stretched and swallowed light, and her form flickered—never truly in one place, attacking from impossible angles.

Caelum swung his colossal Warhammer, sending shockwaves through his domain. The earth hardened further, resisting the abyss' pull. The centipede lunged, her countless legs moving unnaturally, her fangs trying to drag him down into the abyss-like Zone. But, her attack was met each time with a crushing counterstrike, forcing her back into the shadows.

Then she changed her tactics. The abyssal pits widened, slowly consuming the once-unshakable ground of Titan's Bastion. Caelum narrowed his eyes. he would take the battle to the sky, If the ground could not support him.

With a thunderous leap, he launched himself into the air, his hammer radiating golden energy. The centipede shrieked as he came crashing down with the force of a collapsing mountain, shattering the terrain beneath them both.

The abyss swallowed them whole.

But inside the darkness, Caelum's golden light did not fade. The battle was far from over.

A storm of fire churned in the distance. Grandmaster Solara moved like a goddess of the sun, her Everburning Expanse turning the battlefield into a sea of molten fury. The air shimmered with unbearable heat, and even the toughest beasts turned to ash the moment they stepped too close.

Yet, the Emperor-ranked phoenix-serpent laughed.

With a piercing cry, it expanded more of its zone Scorching Rebirth. The flames of Solara's domain twisted and pulled into the serpent's body, fueling its regeneration. Every injury it sustained closed instantly, making it stronger with each ember.

Solara clenched her fists. She was the master of fire, not this creature.

With a sudden motion, she shifted her domain—not merely flames, but consuming fire. The heat changed from ordinary infernos to something more destructive, something that burned even the concept of life itself as she enforced the second rue of her domain.

The flaame-serpent screeched in shock as its own body resisted healing, the flames that once strengthened it now devouring its flesh. Solara's golden eyes gleamed.

Let's see how well you burn now.

The land became a shifting desert as Grandmaster Zephyrus raised his hand. His Endless Dunes spread far and wide, turning the terrain into an ever-moving expanse. Every step felt like sinking, and every attempt at balance was disrupted. His enemies would exhaust themselves before ever reaching him.

But his opponent, the panther-like Empress, was already gone.

The Phantom Mirage was active. Clones of the beast flickered through the sands, their forms blending with the heat distortions. Attacks passed through empty air. The panther struck from all angles, its claws slicing through armor and flesh before vanishing into illusion.

Zephyrus exhaled. His domain did not need to see its enemies. It only needed to feel.

The desert itself became his eyes. He sensed the movement of the grains and the ripples of the wind, allowing him to track the true panther's location. With a single step, he vanished as the sands shifted unnaturally beneath him. The panther lunged, anticipating yet another illusion, but this time, Zephyrus was ready.

A single precise strike.

The illusion shattered. Blood splattered onto the dunes.

Lava and ice clashed in a battle of extremes. Another Grandmaster who was using a twin hammer, swung his twin hammers, rivers of molten rock erupting from the ground. His Molten Cataclysm burned hotter than any normal fire, his very presence warping the air into a furnace.

But his opponent, the frost-covered ice hawk Empress, unleashed Glacial Extinction. Ice surged in response, devouring the heat with an unnatural chill. The lava rivers turned into frozen spires in an instant. Darius found himself at the edge of his domain's limit—each of his attacks countered by a force just as absolute as his own.

The battlefield became a land of fire and ice, the balance constantly shifting.

Then Darius grinned. Perfect.

His hammers slammed together, releasing a forceful explosion of heat, but not outward—inward. His flames condensed, not seeking to burn the enemy but to pressurize themselves to the absolute limit.

The ice beast lunged, believing she had frozen his fire.

That was her mistake.

Darius roared and slammed his hammer forward. The compressed flames detonated, sending a concussive blast powerful enough to turn the entire battlefield into a half-melted wasteland.

The beast reeled, its ice armor fractured. Darius wasted no time, charging forward, twin hammers raised.

Grandmaster Orion's Verdant Genesis turned the battlefield into an ancient forest, with massive trees, and twisting vines rising at his command. His domain breathed life, his roots ensnaring enemy beasts and dragging them beneath the soil.

But his opponent, the Emperor-ranked horned beast, sneered. Its Devouring Wilds activated, draining the very life from the forest. The trees withered, the once-flourishing domain turning to rot.

Orion scowled. The beast zone a counter to his domain. The beast was absorbing the life force of everything within its reach, stealing from the land itself.

Then he smiled. How much can you take before you choke?

He extended his hand, and his domain did not retreat. It expanded. Faster than the beast could devour it, the forest surged with new growth, regenerating at an impossible speed.

The horned beast paused. The life it drained had no end. It could not consume something that refused to die.

Orion moved forward. The vines wrapped around his foe.

And they did not let go.

The war raged on.

As hundreds of Domains and Beast Zones warped the world, reshaping the battlefield with every clash. Neither side could afford to falter. The Grandmasters pushed their limits, their very souls burning with the will to overcome.

But the Emperor and Empress beasts were just as relentless.

This was not a battle of mortals.

This was war at the highest level.
