Mei-Mei glanced at the settling curtains before she sheathed her sword and resumed climbing up to the coach seat.
Inside the carriage, Xiao Mo looked at Sung-il who had appeared in the seat across from him. His face was slightly pale, and the white robes he had changed into were now soaked in sweat.
Wiping his brows with his sleeves, Sung-il said.
"Senior, I apologize for my sudden appearance. I'll be sure to announce my presence next time."
After saying this, Sung-il finally felt the fearsome aura that was locked onto him slowly fade away, which made him sigh in relief. Turning to Xiao Mo, he gave him a grateful look.
If it wasn't for Xiao Mo speaking up just now, Sung-il might have lost his head.
Seeing his grateful look, Xiao Mo snorted and said.
"Serves you right. If it were not for you possessing that special token that allows you to carry someone with you into the Red Orchid Garden, I wouldn't have stopped Mei-Mei."
Sung-il expression turned bitter. How was he supposed to know that this harmless-looking maid next to this arrogant brat was so terrifying?
With his Movement Technique, Sung-il could avoid most Grandmaster-level existences' senses if they weren't on guard. So, he had the habit of coming and going anywhere he liked within the Demonic Cult.
However, because of that and the fact that he had never been caught in the act until now, he had developed a careless mindset. Not only had he been caught by Xiao Mo who had been near undetectable to him until he appeared from the passage, he had now almost been beheaded by his maid.
'Too terrifying, this maid shouldn't be an ordinary Grandmaster. Even my father had never given me such a feeling of danger, and I have suffered a few blows from him meant to do some damage. However, I'm more curious about this brat.'
Sung-il looked at Xiao Mo curiously. Not only was he able to avoid his detection when entering Bai Luo's room, he was able to stop his maid in that split second. That was only possible if he had sensed him beforehand and was just waiting until he tried to enter the carriage to stop his maid.
"What are you looking at?"
Xiao Mo said annoyed, as he carelessly put on his white inner shirt, and tied his messy hair into a messy ponytail.
"Brother Xiao Mo, it seems you're quite extraordinary, far from what the rumors claim."
Sung-il responded while gazing at Xiao Mo with interest.
Xiao Mo didn't entertain Sung-il's curiosity one bit but instead said.
"We shouldn't delay visiting the Red Orchid Garden any longer, go and direct Mei-Mei to its location."
Sung-il paused, he looked at Xiao Mo's current attire and said with a strange expression.
"Are you planning on going looking like this?"
"What? Do I need to be neatly dressed to visit the Red Orchid Garden?"
"Well, they have a rule that states that as long as you have a jade token, they have to let you in unconditionally. But…"
Sung-il words trailed off as he looked at Xiao Mo's clothes. Overall, his appearance looked disheveled and unpresentable.
Xiao Mo, however, seemed unconcerned. He had long since forgo trying to look good in front of others. Rather than doing something so counterproductive, he would rather look unpresentable to lessen his image in the eyes of everyone so he wouldn't have to be bombarded by unwanted advances. Mind you that was from both males and females alike.
But even more so, he hoped those Young Ladies from the Noble Families back home would wake up and see him for what he truly was...
A hot mess!
But not the good kind!
Seeing Xiao Mo waving his hand dismissively, Sung-il nodded and then left the carriage. Normally he would use his Movement Technique even if he had to walk a few steps, but this time he got out of the carriage slowly and then climbed up onto the coach seat beside Mei-Mei.
But Sung-il was quite unique. He greeted Mei-Mei enthusiastically after sitting next to her as if she wasn't the one who had almost chopped his head off moments ago.
Mei-Mei, with her usual stoic expression, returned his greetings with a barely perceptible nod before spurring the horses forward.
Unruffled, Sung-il remained just as enthusiastic as he began giving directions to the Red Orchid Garden.
Listening to Sung-il's constant jabbering between him giving directions, Xiao Mo's right eyelid twitched. It twitched even more when Sung-il began loudly calling out to him to introduce the various buildings of the Demonic Cult they passed.
After nearly two hours of this, they finally reached their destination. It was a valley situated between two small mountains.
As Xiao Mo stepped down from the carriage, his bare feet was tickled by the grass underneath as he stood at the mouth of the valley. Looking around he quickly realized this place was somewhat out of the way from the other buildings. However, after closing his eyes and listening to the silent surroundings, he could not imagine a better place for one to practice their guqin skills.
Xiao Mo reopened his eyes to reveal the excited gleam within them.
Sung-il, who was patiently waiting by the left, smiled and said.
"Besides the peaceful silence, the location itself has good acoustics, and it can be attributed to the two mountains and the miniature Formation that surrounds the entire valley."
"I see. What are we waiting for?"
Sung-il nodded, then turned to glance at Mei-Mei to the right of Xiao Mo and said with a smile still on his face.
"Big Sis Mei-Mei, the token I have allows me to invite two people with me, so you'll be able to accompany us."
Mei-Mei silently nodded.
However, even though she reacted the same as usual, Xiao Mo, who had grown up with her, could tell that she was beginning to have a favorable impression of Sung-il.
Xiao Mo clicked his tongue internally but chose not to say anything. If he did, it would come off as him being jealous.
Without much fanfare, the three soon stepped forward and entered the valley to visit the Red Orchid Garden.
