The driver suddenly slammed on the brakes, the tires screeching as the car swerved violently. The vehicle nearly crashed into another before coming to a shaky stop.
Arya's body jerked forward from the sudden stop. "What happened?" he demanded.
The boy behind the wheel let out a shaky breath. "The road is blocked. Too many cars ahead—we can't go any further."
Arya didn't waste time arguing. Without another word, he pushed open the car door and stepped out. His heart pounded as he glanced ahead. Then, without hesitation, he took off running.
The couple in the car let out a sigh of relief as he left, but Arya had no time to care. His only thought was his sister. He had to save her.
The city center wasn't far. He pushed himself harder, his legs burning as he ran at full speed. Finally, he reached the location where they had taken Aisha.
But what he sensed sent a chill down his spine.
