Chapter 1: Arrival in a New Hell
Kai's senses flared as he regained consciousness. The scent of sterilized steel, chemicals, and blood filled his nostrils. His golden-yellow eyes shot open, scanning his surroundings. The cold metal slab beneath him, the dim red glow of emergency lights, and the distant hum of machinery told him everything he needed to know—he was in another goddamn lab.
"Fuck... not this again," he growled, his voice laced with irritation.
His last memory was the chaos he left behind in Project Cadmus—the slaughtered scientists, the shattered containment tanks, and the roaring inferno that consumed the facility. Then, out of nowhere, a tear in reality itself had dragged him into the unknown. Now, here he was, trapped once again.
But unlike before, he wasn't helpless.
A sudden wave of voices crashed into his mind. The telepathic echoes of terrified researchers monitoring him. "Subject is awake! How is that possible? The sedation should've lasted another 48 hours!"
Kai smirked. "Guess you didn't do your research well enough, assholes."
With a mere thought, his body phased into intangibility, slipping effortlessly through the restraints. The scientists screamed in panic as their instruments failed to keep him contained. Before they could even react, he was upon them. One raised a gun, but Kai moved faster than the human eye could track. His fist crushed the man's skull with a sickening crunch.
Alarms blared. Red warning lights flooded the room as doors slammed shut, locking the facility down. Automated turrets emerged from the ceiling, opening fire with armor-piercing rounds. Kai barely acknowledged them. His reactive evolution kicked in, his skin hardening to the point where the bullets felt like mere raindrops.
He raised his hand, and an invisible force ripped the turrets from their mounts, crushing them like tin cans. "Pathetic."
A reinforced door at the far end of the lab hissed open, and a group of soldiers in advanced combat gear stormed in, weapons trained on him.
"Target acquired! Lethal force authorized!"
Kai exhaled sharply, his patience already running thin. "You idiots really think you can kill me? Fine. Let's see how long you last."
In a blur, he was among them. His blows shattered bones, sent bodies flying like ragdolls, and left blood splattered across the cold metal walls. One soldier attempted to flee. With a thought, Kai teleported in front of him, grabbed his head, and twisted. The snap echoed through the lab.
The fight was over in less than a minute. A pile of corpses lay at his feet. "That was disappointing," he muttered.
He walked to the nearest terminal, placing a hand on it. Technopathic energy coursed through his fingers, hijacking the system within seconds. Information flooded his mind—Weapon X Program, Adamantium experimentation, Mutant suppression.
Kai's grin widened. "Oh, so this is where you psychos cook up all the living weapons. Cute."
A new objective formed in his mind. He would burn this place to the ground, just like he did with Cadmus. But first, he needed to find out where the hell he was.

The words blinked across the screen.
