The morning light cast a golden hue through the windows, small particles of dust visible in the light. Garrett's eyes fluttered open, his gaze drifted down and landed on an arm.
More specifically, Mizuki's arm.
Her arm wrapped around his waist tightly, he could feel her soft breaths blowing against his neck.
"This is awkward…" he murmured.
Garrett tried to shift slightly, but Mizuki only tightened her grip and mumbled something inaudible.
He sighed. "Great, now I really can't move."
Garrett tried to move again, only for her to cling even tighter.
"Mizuki," he whispered, hoping she would wake up without getting mad.
No response. Instead, she buried her face against his shoulder.
Garrett groaned internally. Is she doing this on purpose?
He attempted one last, careful escape, only for her to let out a soft purr and nuzzle closer.
"Argh… this sucks." He muttered, accepting his fate by hugging her, for now.
-15 minutes later-
The living room door slid open and Shion stepped in with a musket over his shoulder. Not to shoot Garrett and Mizuki, but to go hunting.
"Still sleeping huh?" His gaze landed on the two.
Garrett didn't respond because he was fake sleeping.
Shion smirked, looking at Garrett's hard-shut eyes. "You can't fool me boy, let's go hunting."
Garrett rolled slightly and looked up at Shion. "I would if I could."
Upon hearing his words he already knew what he meant by that, but for his own amusement, Shion decided to not help him get this cat off.
He leaned back on the doorframe. "She really loves you, huh?" he teased.
Garrett shot him a glare. "Obviously. Now, can you help?"
Shion pretended to think, tapping his chin for a moment. "Nah, I would like to see you escape this prison."
He clicked his tongue, shooting him another glare–before returning to his current objective.
If slithering out doesn't work, how about grabbing her arms?
So that's what he did. But unfortunately, her grip was like iron. He can't lift even an inch. W-Why is it s-so hard?
Even that didn't work.
He tried a different approach—gently patting her head. "Mizuki," he whispered into her ear.
She stirred, and her ears twitched at his touch.
Instead of waking her up, she let out a small grumbling sound and held him even tighter.
"Run out of ideas?" Shion chuckled.
"One more trick!"
Garrett took a deep breath, narrowing his eyes in determination. Alright, this has to work!"
He leaned in and pressed his lips on her forehead, keeping them there.
Mizuki's ears perked up from the soft warmth on her forehead, eyes fluttering open.
She blinked a few times–adjusting her vision on Garrett, before her eyes widened and face turned red.
SLAP!
A moment later, after the inevitable slap and an awkward repositioning…
Shion is still laughing. "That was the dumbest and bravest move I've ever seen!"
"Argh… can we go hunting yet?" Garrett sighed, rubbing the slap mark on his face.
"Yes, I'm just wasting my time. Anyways, Let's go." Shion said, opening the door.
Garrett's gaze shifted toward Mizuki who still sat there, "embarrassed". "It's just… a kiss, you know," he sounded concerned.
She didn't turn toward him, her "embarrassment" crystal clear in the way her ears twitched, tail sliding across the floor.
"Hey," he shifted toward her, wondering why she was not responding. "Is there anything wrong?" he asked and placed a hand on her shoulder.
Her tail stopped flicking, and she giggled.
He blinked. "Huh? Did you say something?" he thought.
Before he could react, she spun around–pinning him flat on the floor and straddling him.
"Wha-" he blushed, words caught in his throat.
"Sorry for slapping you earlier," She lowered her head and kissed him hard, tail swaying behind her.
He could feel her tongue moving in his mouth, an uncomfortable sensation that constantly spreads through his body. Not pleasurable at all.
Back to Shion.
He stared out at the bustling streets, then the sky, and he saw… A DRAGON? SOMEONE RIDING A DRAGON?
"Only if I was a dragon tamer… that would've been cool." he said internally.
With a sigh he turned his gaze back to Garrett and Mizuki.
His smile dropped, a line of sweat slid down his cheek as he took in the sight of them… kissing.
"What the hell?!"
He could hear Garrett's muffled talking, probably trying to say something toward him.
Mizuki didn't even care, she continued… again, kissing.
"Um… maybe, you two needed some privacy. I-I gotta go." With that, he hurriedly stepped out and slid the door closed.
"...I thought we were going hunting." He muttered, still feeling awkward.
-2 hours later-
Shion's boots crunched on leaves while he aimed his musket from bush to bush and tree to tree like he's in a war.
He halted near a river, putting his weapon on the gravel and crouched down. Scooping up water with bare hands before sipping it.
After drinking straight river water, he lifted his gaze up and glanced around. "It's so peaceful and quiet here."
Right before he could go, a growling sound fell into his ears. It seemed like that sound came from behind him.
With a sigh, he casually picked up his weapon and spun around. The massive, dark-armored wolf charged at him.
He aimed the gun precisely at its right eye with one hand and fired it.
The musket ball ricocheted off its eye, which was not what he expected to see. "Why is its eye so hard?"
He threw himself aside before the beast could shut its jaw on him.
Shion rolled across the gravel and sprang up in a combat stance. His gun couldn't pierce its armored skin and took forever to reload, so he threw it away.
"Come here, big boy!" He shouted.
The wolf snarled and charged again; he smirked, also charging toward it.
Shion swung his arm, his fist collided with the beast's chin–shattering its armored skin.
While It growled in pain, he dashed at its side and continuously threw punches.
The beast was sent hurtling backward. Its legs wobbling and armored hide shattered.
Shion casually walked toward it. "You are delicious for today's meal."
The wolf growled and charged at him With Its paw raised, clearly wanting to crush him.
He swung his arm at the massive paw on top of him.
CRACK!
It's bone shattered like glass. It didn't stop there, he continued to throw punches under its throat and anywhere he could land his punches as deadly as possible.
Punch after punch, the beast is finally dead. He wiped a sweat on his forehead with his sleeve before dragging the massive corpse like it's nothing.
"I should hunt another one to sell for coins. "He thought, glancing at the corpse. "This one's for dinner–bet they're starving at home right now."
With that, he quickly got moving.
…
At home, Garrett is still not free from Mizuki's makeout session that he didn't ask for.
She finally lifted her lips up, revealing a strand of saliva connected to their tongue for a brief moment.
She licked her lips and rolled beside him with a satisfied sigh.
Garrett blinked at the ceiling, still flustered. "I… I can't believe you did that,"
Mizuki giggled, not taking her eyes off him. "Oh? you like it~?"
He rolled to the right, basically turning his back on her. "Ugh… that's not what I meant." He continued. "And obviously, I don't like that."
She sat up cross-legged and grabbed his arm, shaking his entire body. "You do, admit it!" She sounded frustrated.
His eyes were already shut, clearly uninterested. "If you don't admit it I will spend another two hours kissing you!" So you better change your mind!" she yelled in his ear and pouted.
Garrett's eyes snapped open from the loud yell in his ear. He slowly sat up–rubbing the back of his neck. "That was loud…"
Mizuki crossed her arms. "Hmph! What was the point of that when you didn't like it?"
He sighed and fixed his gaze on her with a sad face, hoping this will trigger some "mercy" inside her so he can escape this makeout session.
She turned her gaze back to him, narrowing her eyes. "You… you looked flustered before, why do you look so sad now?"
At this point, he was sweating and not responding to her question.
"Uh huh? I guess you changed your mind," she wrapped her arms around his neck and did that again.
The shoji door slid open, and Shion stepped in with a giant leather bag of meat. "I'M… back…" his gaze landed on that same thing they did before.
His smile dropped, his face was like an eighty-four-year-old man.
"Poor Garrett… his soul may never rest after this."
-30 minutes later-
Garrett finally regained his sanity after all that bullshit. "My tongue feels violated… and whose fault is that?" he said while chewing on some rice and wolf-meat.
Mizuki chuckled at the question. "Who doesn't like their tongue in someone else's mouth?"
He froze–his chopsticks hovered. "You're nasty, Mizuki."
"I-I'm sorry." She let out an awkward laugh before focusing on eating.
Shion ignored their conversation and enjoyed the food he cooked on the opposite side of the table.
Was this a peaceful day? Yes.
But of course nothing lasts forever.
The sky is leaking and Gods are watching.
