Chapter 74 - **Chapter 74: The Killing Curse's New Trait Unleashed—Annihilation Incarnate!**

**[Notification]:** You have completed the refinement quest for the Avada Kedavra curse!

**[Notification]:** You have unlocked a new trait for Avada Kedavra—Annihilation Incarnate!

"It's really done!"

A smile spread across Dylan's face.

He hadn't expected the refinement quest for Avada Kedavra to be completed so easily. It seemed the task wasn't as difficult as he had imagined.

Dylan began examining the new trait of the Killing Curse.

——————

**[Annihilation Incarnate]:**

When using Avada Kedavra, you can now activate or deactivate a circular zone of destruction centered on yourself, with a radius of four meters and a duration of four seconds.

Within this zone, the energy of Avada Kedavra will permeate, attacking all living beings that enter. Effects are as follows:

- **1 second:** Sluggishness

- **2 seconds:** Paralysis

- **3 seconds:** Instant death

**[Note]:** Trying to block my Avada Kedavra with a mirror? Try this instead! Embrace the Killing Curse!

"A zone of destruction? This is insane!"

Dylan couldn't help but gulp as he read the description of the new trait.

He had already mastered Avada Kedavra to its highest level, but hitting a target wasn't always guaranteed. Now, the system seemed determined to ensure he could eliminate his enemies effortlessly by granting him this devastating zone.

Anyone who entered would die.

"Still, a four-meter radius is a bit awkward—not too big, not too small."

Dylan clicked his tongue.

If an enemy happened to be within four meters, such as in a confined space like a small room, this zone would be absolutely overpowered. However, in an open area, he'd have to get closer to his target, which would introduce more variables.

"Moreover, the zone only lasts for four seconds. Unlike being directly hit by Avada Kedavra, which causes instant death, living beings inside the zone need to stay for three seconds to be killed."

Dylan pursed his lips and shook his head.

"After all, this is just an energy field created by the residual power of Avada Kedavra. As long as the target doesn't have an escape method, even if they stay for just one or two seconds before fleeing, I can still chase them down and finish them off."

At that point, he could simply cast another Killing Curse while the enemy was immobilized or paralyzed.

Overall, this trait was incredibly useful.

It perfectly complemented Dylan's offensive capabilities and would undoubtedly become one of his most valuable trump cards.

"Heh, who would expect a first-year wizard not only to use an Unforgivable Curse but also to unleash a zone of death just by being near him?"

This trait would be perfect for ambushes and catching enemies off guard.

Dylan was satisfied. His late-night trek through the Forbidden Forest, braving the cold wind, had been worth it.

He glanced down at the corpse of the Acromantula.

"Thank you," he said to it.

This giant spider had not only provided him with valuable materials but had also helped him unlock the new trait for Avada Kedavra.

"I'll forgive you for ambushing me earlier."

Dylan raised his wand, and a pink, fluffy rabbit engulfed in cursed flames leaped out of thin air, landing on the Acromantula's body.

The beautiful pink flames slowly consumed the giant spider until not even ashes remained.

Watching such a massive creature vanish into nothingness before his eyes, Dylan felt a strange sensation.

A peculiar tingling spread from his chest, coursing through his entire body.

It wasn't pleasure but rather an eerie, electrifying feeling, as if countless tiny currents were surging through his veins and nerves.

"The Unforgivable Curses truly live up to their name."

There were many ways to kill a person or a creature—spells like *Reducto*, *Sectumsempra*, *Diffindo*, or *Fiendfyre*.

However, these spells could all be resisted or blocked.

Avada Kedavra, on the other hand, was unstoppable. A single hit meant instant death.

Just a flash of green light, and a life would be extinguished—no screams, no struggle, just a quiet, effortless end.

The ease with which life could be taken made it hard to appreciate its value.

"Fortunately, I'm immune to the psychological effects of dark magic. I don't have to endure the emotional toll of using Unforgivable Curses. As long as I stay true to myself and remember that these curses are just tools—tools I can choose not to use but must have—I won't become a murderous lunatic like Voldemort."

He studied magic to ensure he would never be used as a pawn or die as easily as many characters in the original story.

To achieve that, he needed to become powerful—so powerful that even Voldemort would one day bow before him and say, "All hail Dylan!"

Along the way, he could also research the connection between immortality and magic, ensuring his parents lived longer and preventing Voldemort from causing more destruction.

"Who knows? If I delve deep enough into magic, I might even travel to other worlds."

After all, hadn't he already crossed into this one?

This was another reason Dylan was so passionate about studying magic.

If there was a chance to explore other worlds, all his hard work would be worth it.

Checking the time again, Dylan glanced toward the depths of the Forbidden Forest.

But instead of venturing further, he turned and left.

Curfew wasn't over yet. After returning to his dormitory, Dylan cast a quick *Scourgify* on himself and climbed into bed, hugging Coal, who had been waiting for him.

He fell asleep almost instantly.

The next morning, Harry woke him up.

"Unbelievable, Dylan! You're still asleep? Did you have a rough night?" Ron stood beside Harry, looking surprised.

Dylan rubbed his eyes. "Yeah, I'm pretty tired."

Of course he was tired—he'd spent hours in the Forbidden Forest gathering herbs, dissecting materials, and battling an Acromantula.

He'd only slept for about two hours and had even had a nightmare!

In the dream, he'd been surrounded by a horde of Acromantulas. He'd unleashed a barrage of a hundred Avada Kedavra curses, which chained together like lightning, wiping out the entire swarm.

"What a terrifying nightmare."

Dylan got out of bed and began packing his things.

Harry and Ron were already ready, but they had waited for him before heading out.

"Stay here, buddy. I'll be back tonight." Dylan patted Coal's small head.

Its lynx-like ears twitched, and it nuzzled Dylan's palm with its furry face.

"Mrow!"

Dylan chuckled and cast a quick *Refreshing Charm* on himself, feeling more awake.

Then, slinging his bag over his shoulder, he followed Harry and Ron to the Great Hall for breakfast.
