Chapter 43 - Ch 43: Fill the pain

Tsunade walked alone on the long road.

Right now, she was in a very cheerful mood because she had finally won money gambling this afternoon—and she had won a lot of money.

"Hmph, it seems my gambling skills have improved recently."

Moreover, that brat Tatsumi at home was about to get lost. Everything had been pleasant recently. She could slack off comfortably for a while again.

As for someone being unlucky whenever she won money? None of her business.

Whether it was Jiraiya, Orochimaru, or that brat Tatsumi being unlucky—what did it have to do with her?

Being unlucky was just being unlucky. It wasn't like she was the one suffering.

Tsunade cheerfully hummed a tune as she walked through the gate of her home.

She squinted her eyes and noticed the Anbu outside her house.

Tsunade knew about these people. They were here to monitor and protect Kushina, right?

Although she still didn't know why Konoha was making such a big deal out of Kushina, as long as it made her grandmother happy, that was fine. After all, the girl was from her grandmother's clan.

These Anbu couldn't enter the courtyard; they could only stay outside to protect. No one wanted a group of people hiding inside their home, watching them.

Tsunade walked through the gate and thought about Kushina. She really liked that kid.

Even though Kushina had only just arrived today, Tsunade had taken an immediate liking to her.

Despite her carefree nature, Tsunade could still sense the loneliness and fear in Kushina's heart.

What a gentle and kind little sister.

For a six-year-old child, it was normal to be afraid when arriving in an unfamiliar place, right?

She wondered if Kushina had fallen asleep yet.

Tsunade decided to go check on her.

She slowly approached Kushina's room, but it was pitch black inside.

"Asleep?" Tsunade gently pushed open the door.

But there was no sign of Kushina. No one was there.

Tsunade immediately touched Kushina's bed. The blankets were cold.

"Crap! Could she have been kidnapped?"

Tsunade immediately left the room and headed toward the backyard to find her grandmother.

Then she passed by Tatsumi's room and noticed that the lights inside were still on.

Faintly, she heard the sound of a girl crying.

"What the hell?"

Tsunade immediately approached and carefully pressed her ear against the door.

Inside, she heard a voice—intermittent but recognizable.

"I'm... sorry..."

Although it was a bit muffled, Tsunade could tell it was Tatsumi's voice.

"That... I... didn't mean to."

Tatsumi seemed to be apologizing non-stop.

Tsunade immediately became nervous.

"Just now, that... it was just for a moment... It shouldn't hurt, right?"

"A moment? It would hurt?" Tsunade's brain immediately started to imagine things wildly.

What could have happened that would hurt for just a moment?

Her thoughts uncontrollably drifted into an exciting yet unfamiliar realm.

What exactly was going on?

The sounds inside were too unclear.

Tsunade decided to replace the door with one that had terrible soundproofing tomorrow!

"That... I... will... take responsibility..."

Tsunade's face immediately turned ugly.

Tatsumi was even going to take responsibility?

This was serious.

Kushina wasn't in her room at night and had appeared in Tatsumi's room instead. And now, he was talking about taking responsibility?

Even if Tsunade were dumb, she would understand what was happening.

What to do?

Although the boy was from the Uchiha clan, he was still Tsunade's first student.

She had wanted to guide him properly, but she didn't expect something like this to happen.

If she reported him, Tatsumi would definitely be taken away by the Anbu and thrown into the lake, right?

But if she didn't report him, Kushina was her little sister.

She couldn't wait any longer.

Weighing the pros and cons, Tsunade kicked the door open with a flying kick.

Her mind went blank.

The scene before her was this:

Kushina was sitting on the bed in disheveled pajamas, looking nervous and scared.

Beside her bed was a kunai. Clearly, she had wanted to commit suicide!

That beast Tatsumi was right next to her, his ugly face close to hers, holding a piece of paper, wiping away her tears.

Kushina's eyes were wide. Her face was flushed red like a tomato.

Was it because of fear?

"Kushina, don't be afraid! I'm here to save you! Close your eyes!" Tsunade said quickly.

After all, there was going to be bloodshed in a moment. She couldn't scare such a gentle and kind child any further.

That would be secondary trauma.

Tatsumi stared blankly at Tsunade, who had just broken into the room.

Everything was unexpected.

Tsunade's smooth hair, tied into a golden ponytail, carried a faint scent of shampoo.

Looking at the door that Tsunade had smashed, Tatsumi's eyes twitched slightly.

"Is this another one of her sneak attacks? How despicable..."

Even now, Tatsumi was still able to analyze the situation from an objective standpoint.

"Tsunade-nee... I..." Kushina's voice was shaky.

But Tsunade wasn't listening.

"Tatsumi, grit your teeth and prepare to die!"

"Eh? What? This joke has gone too far! Wait, wait, wait a minute! I don't know anything—Waaah!"

Tatsumi had never felt such intense killing intent before.

Tsunade's eyes held an unprecedented seriousness!

What happened next was completely beyond Tatsumi's expectations.

Tsunade lunged forward with extreme speed.

Her narrowed eyes radiated pure rage.

"So this is the true strength of a Jonin? I can't move at all!"

Tsunade suddenly threw a punch.

That fist—was heading straight for Tatsumi's lips.

How?

Why was Tsunade's fist so close?

Why was he even here?

Why was his brain so muddled that he couldn't think properly?

Move!

Suddenly, Tsunade's soft, warm skin touched his lips.

Before Tatsumi could process what had happened, his body was already airborne.

So... this was the feeling of flying?

Then, in midair, Tatsumi felt a sharp pain explode across his face.

Feel the pain. Experience the pain. Accept the pain. Know the pain.

Those who did not understand pain would never understand true terror.

At that moment, Tatsumi realized his insignificance in the universe.

It was an overwhelming feeling of loneliness and humility.

Then, in the air, he finally saw Tsunade's ferocious face—and the image of Kushina crying and rushing forward to save him.

It was... beautiful.

Then, darkness.

In an instant, Tatsumi's consciousness faded into the void.
