Chapter 185 - 77. The Resentful Kiriko

Time: The first day of the apocalypse.

"I didn't expect that everything Rei said was true."

Looking out the window at the scene of people devouring each other on the streets, Miyamoto Tadashi, dressed in a police uniform, muttered to himself. Even his usually calm and expressionless face showed deep shock.

"Yes, it's terrifying, just like a horror movie!" said Miyamoto Kiriko, still in her white traffic uniform, patting her chest. Even the usually tough Kiriko was pale, revealing deep fear.

"Fortunately, Rei warned us in advance, otherwise…"

She recalled how their daughter, Miyamoto Rei, had suddenly called them earlier, urging them to stay home no matter what, saying that some terrifying disaster was about to happen. At first, both she and Tadashi didn't believe it, as it seemed too absurd.

Later, if it hadn't been for the fact that Rei sounded like she was about to cry on the phone, and the situation seemed unusual, they might not have agreed to stay home. Now, they might have ended up like the people outside…

"Wait, what about that bad boy, Sora? Does he know what's happening? We need to notify him quickly!"

As if suddenly remembering something, Kiriko was startled and quickly took out her phone to contact Sora.

For the past three years, for some reason, her husband had stopped touching her, leaving Kiriko, as a woman, with some lingering resentment. Fortunately, that bad boy often came over to cheer her up, preventing her from feeling too miserable.

As for that bad boy, Kiriko wasn't sure what kind of feelings she had for him, but his importance was no less than that of her daughter, Miyamoto Rei.

"It's no use. All calls have been unavailable since earlier," Tadashi shook his head, seeing the worried look on Kiriko's face, and continued, "Don't worry, that boy will be fine. Rei probably knew about the disaster because he told her."

"Moreover, that boy has far more secrets than we imagine. Even if everyone dies, he might not."

Tadashi, being a police officer, had a sharp eye. Although Sora seemed ordinary on the surface, after spending so much time together, some clues had inevitably surfaced.

"Sigh… I hope so. You little rascal, you better be okay…"

Looking at the "Network Busy" message on her phone, Kiriko sighed helplessly. Although she knew Tadashi was right, her eyes still revealed deep concern.

"Kiriko, from now on, stay hidden at home. Don't step outside until Rei and that boy come to get you!"

After a moment of silence, as if making a firm decision, Tadashi picked up his police cap from the table and spoke with a tone of authority and determination.

"Miyamoto Tadashi, what are you going to do?"

Seeing the serious look on Tadashi's face, Kiriko instantly realized something and was startled, grabbing his hand and shouting.

"Let go!"

Tadashi was a man of strict principles. Seeing Kiriko's unseemly behavior, he frowned and spoke with some displeasure.

Although Kiriko knew it was just her husband's personality and nothing more, for some reason, looking at this rigid and cold man, and recalling how he had ignored her over the past few years, she felt an overwhelming sense of grievance.

Letting go of his hand, she bit her lip tightly, her orange eyes, identical to Rei's, filled with tears.

"I am a police officer. An unimaginable disaster is happening outside. I must fulfill my duties and obligations, for our country and for the people who trust me!"

Seeing Kiriko's aggrieved expression, Tadashi felt some guilt, but he was an upright and responsible police officer. Although leaving his family at this time was unfair to them, he had no choice in the face of greater duty…

"Haha… fulfill your duties and obligations? For our country? For the people?"

Taking two steps back, Kiriko's face showed a bittersweet smile. The resentment she had accumulated over the years finally erupted at this moment!

"Miyamoto Tadashi, are you even a man?!"

"At a time like this, you still want to fulfill those damn duties and obligations? What about me? What about Rei? Are you going to abandon us for the sake of your country and people?!"

Almost screaming, Kiriko felt endless disappointment and heartache. Her husband was about to abandon her and their daughter at this critical moment.

She wasn't a selfish or unreasonable woman. In the past, she had always supported Tadashi in everything he did, being an excellent and supportive wife.

But how could this situation compare to the past? Monsters were everywhere, devouring people, and the world's laws and morals were collapsing. Yet, he still wanted to leave!

Even the rigid Tadashi was deeply moved by Kiriko's words, his eyes showing deep guilt and hesitation. But his long-held beliefs and sense of duty ultimately led him to make his choice:

"I'm sorry, Kiriko."

With immense guilt, Tadashi said this to his wife, then turned and walked out the door without looking back.

"Miyamoto Tadashi, I hate you!!!"

With heavy steps, Kiriko's hoarse voice echoed behind him. A flash of determination crossed his eyes—this was the decision of a man who was a police officer.

On the desolate and ruined streets, Sora and Miyamoto Rei were leaping rapidly.

Sora still carried Komuro Aoi in his arms. Although his life force had healed her physical injuries, the days of constant mental tension had left her exhausted. Now, suddenly relaxed, she fell into a deep sleep in Sora's arms.

"Sora, why did you say those things to that annoying guy in the end?"

Recalling Sora's earlier words to Komuro Takashi, Rei asked curiously.

Having been by Sora's side for so many years, Rei was quite familiar with his personality. Someone like Komuro Takashi, who was self-important and aloof, didn't get along with him at all. In the past, the two hadn't even exchanged a word. According to Rei's logic, Sora should have continued to ignore that guy as usual!

"Haha, Rei, you don't understand. It's about fun, you know? Fun!"

With a sly smile, Sora continued, "It's not going to be a day or two before you collect all the energy orbs of this world. Don't you think it would be boring over such a long time? That guy is still too weak to bring us any fun, so I just wanted to provoke him a bit, help him unleash his potential."

"Well, although I do hope he gets stronger, if he can't handle it and has a mental breakdown, there's nothing I can do."

Sora shrugged, his expression indifferent.

"Hmph, with his current strength, I'd kick him away every time he shows up!"

With a cold snort, Rei's eyes flashed with disdain. If Sora hadn't told her not to kill Komuro Takashi, she might have already kicked him to death.

"Haha, that won't do. If you always step in, it won't be fun anymore!"

With a wicked grin, as if thinking of something amusing, Sora said with a sly smile.

"Huh?"

Rei looked puzzled, not understanding Sora's meaning.

"I've given Komuro Aoi the power to control fire, and with my guidance, her strength will grow rapidly."

"Don't you think it would be fun if Komuro Aoi stops Komuro Takashi the next time he shows up?"

Well, Sora had to admit, he was too evil!

The thought of having the amnesiac Komuro Aoi fight Komuro Takashi was simply irresistible!

"Hey… I'm also looking forward to it!"

A glint of light flashed in her eyes, and with the same wicked smile as Sora, Miyamoto Rei murmured.

Alas, a pure maiden, influenced by a certain evil villain, has also fallen into the depths of darkness…
