Chapter 13 - Silent ache

Hello cupcakes I hope you all are doing great so here is the chapter 13

One Sunday morning, the sunlight was giving the cold Watabane mansion life. Everywhere was silent, with only the sound of servants moving here and there. Ryu's father was, as always, in his study. Ryu was in the gym area of the mansion, while little Akira was in her room playing with blocks.

Everyone was unaware of the arrival of an unwanted guest. Emiko walked into the mansion, her bodyguard following. Mr. Tanaka was shocked to see her. He bowed. "Good morning, Miss Emiko."

Emiko bowed too. "Good morning, Mr. Tanaka. Hope you are doing great."

He smiled at Emiko. "I am, as always, good-and seeing you early in the morning made my day."

Emiko chuckled. "Stop buttering me up. Well, where is my icy cousin?" She looked upstairs, her bodyguard glancing around.

"Young master is in the gym," Mr. Tanaka said.

"Thanks, Mr. Tanaka," Emiko said before rushing to the staircase. Her bodyguard followed behind.

In the gym, Ryu was on the treadmill. He was wearing a sleeveless vest, his muscular arms visible. He stepped down from the treadmill, walked to the nearby table, grabbed a bottle, and took a sip. The gym was filled with different machines and training equipment.

Suddenly, the door opened and Emiko walked in. She looked at him, shook her head, took a towel from nearby, and threw it at him. "Have you noticed how bad you're smelling? Too sweaty."

He wiped the sweat from his face. "It's not my problem if you don't workout. And I'm not going anywhere, so it doesn't matter."

Emiko smiled mischievously. "You are coming with me."

He rolled his eyes. "What do you think I am? Your bodyguard or your driver?"

Emiko chuckled. "Please, I don't want her to be with me on my date. If you join me, my father will allow me to go without her."

Hearing the word date, Ryu understood who she was talking about. He looked at her. "Go downstairs. I'll be there shortly."

Meanwhile, at Star Cafe, Jin was already there. Though she was supposed to come at 12:00, he had arrived early and was scrolling through his phone. In the kitchen, Yui was lost in thought, her mind filled with worries about the drama that was sure to unfold that afternoon.

Inside the café, a TV was playing a solo idol performance. The idol was Yuri.

At the cash counter, two teenage boys were working. One of them was focused on his task, while the other was completely absorbed in the performance on screen-his eyes fixed on Yuri.

His gaze was filled with emotions, as if he had known her for a very long time. Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Taki."

Taki turned around. It was the other boy working with him.

"Yes? What happened, Hikaru?"

Hikaru glanced at the TV, then back at Taki. "She's out of our reach now. We should be happy that she's living the life we once dreamed of."

With that, he walked off to attend a customer.

But the words "She's out of our reach" stabbed Taki's heart like a dagger. He looked up at the screen just as the performance ended. Yuri was waving to the crowd.

"Are you really happy?" he whispered under his breath.

Yuri stepped out of the changing room, her bag slung over one shoulder, and got into the car. It passed through the city streets. Along the way, the car stopped at a department store. She handed a list to the driver, who went inside.

After a short while, he returned carrying several bags. The car resumed its journey and eventually stopped in front of a building with a sign that read "Happy Children's Home."

Yuri stood at the gate, staring at it. She took a deep breath and stepped inside. She had barely taken a few steps when-

Bang!

She was suddenly on the ground, surrounded by a bunch of excited children.

"Miss Yuri! We were waiting for you!"

"Welcome, Miss Yuri!"

She couldn't help but chuckle, a genuine smile lighting up her face. "Aww, did you really miss me?"

Before anyone could answer, a sharp voice cut through the moment.

"Is this any way to greet a guest?"

It came from a stern-looking middle-aged woman. At once, the kids stood up straight, almost like soldiers. Yuri got to her feet and looked at the woman.

"They're just kids, Madam Sakura. Don't be so hard on them," Yuri said gently.

Madam Sakura marched over to Yuri and gave her ear a playful tug.

"Ow-ouch!" Yuri squealed.

"You're the only one spoiling them," Madam Sakura scolded her.

"Okay, okay! Let me go, it hurts!"

The kids around them burst into laughter at the little scene.

A few moments later, Yuri was sitting in Madam Sakura's office. The older woman sat behind her desk while Yuri was seated across from her.

"How many times have I told you not to bring all these things?" Madam Sakura sighed. "You're spoiling them."

Yuri smiled. "They're my family. And it's not like I visit every day."

Madam Sakura took a deep breath, her expression softening. "So... how are you doing?"

Yuri kept her eyes on her lap and replied, "Of course I'm doing great." She looked up with a wide, convincing smile. "How could I not? After all, I'm part of the Tachibana family."

"Nice to hear," Madam Sakura said gently. "I just want you to be happy."

Yuri's smile faded as her eyes lowered again. Her mind was flooded with thoughts.

"Happy... I was happy before I lost them,"
