Chapter 2 - A New Beginning

It was several long hours, no one knew how many seconds, minutes, days, or weeks had passed yet the day kept changing.

Inside a dark cave with a water body at the center was a girl with black hair sitting by the side of the pool with her crimson eyes fixed on the body floating lifelessly on the water.

Her eyes glimmered brightly that they could be seen though it was dark. She would occasionally grimace and then look at the sky above through a small hole in the wall.

"It's been months. If you don't wake up tonight, tomorrow I will throw your body into the furnace and let it burn to ashes," she said in a cold voice and then stood up, and left.

An hour after she left, the water began to stir and bubbles began to form around the body. After this brief occurrence, everything returned to normal.

Later, the girl returned and she was carrying a bowl of red liquid substance with her. She came to the foot of the water body and dropped the bowl by the side, then she stretched out her hand toward the water and the body floated toward her.

She put her hand into the water to touch the body but just then the body moved and the hand grabbed her wrist firmly. The body opened its eyes and her eyes met with its that moment. Shocked and taken aback by the glare, she pulled her wrist immediately and moved far from the water.

"Y-you are awake?" She stammered.

"I am hungry," the boy said without answering her question.

Remembering she wanted to give him food earlier, she moved her feet though still scared, and bent down to pick the bowl.

"Here, have it," she said and stretched out her both arms towards him.

"What is this?" The boy asked her, gazing at the liquid substance in the bowl.

"It's blood, a demon's blood," the girl replied and thought that he would feel irritated by it but amazingly, he stretched out his hand and collected the bowl from her. His hand was shaking as he held the bowl but he didn't let it fall from his hand.

The girl silently watched him down the whole content of the bowl and licked his lips at the end.

"I want more," he said to her and handed the bowl back to her.

"This is all I can get for the night. You will have to wait till another full moon," she replied to him.

"Why another full moon?" He asked her.

"Because it's only during a full moon that you will need to consume blood," she replied.

"Give me yours for the night," he suddenly said to her.

She gazed at him and noticed the glint that flashed in his eyes. Without being told, she took some steps backward and stood a safe distance from him.

"I saved your life. Is this how you want to repay me?" She asked him.

Alex raised his head and stared at his savior. She was the last person he saw before he lost consciousness.

"How many days have I been unconscious?" He asked her.

"You have been unconscious for the past two months," she replied to his surprise. He didn't show much of the expression but the girl knew quite well that he was surprised. She meant who would not be after sleeping for a couple of two months without waking up?

"That day, the liberators were about to execute you and take your body back but I intervened and saved you. This is a pool made from demons essence and it has the power to heal anyone as long as they are still breathing. I know what it took me to beg my father to allow me to bring you here or you would have died on the spot..." She narrated how she saved him by casting a demonic spell over his body before placing him inside the pool. The spell was to dispel any traces of human blood inside his body and replace it with that of a demon, making him a complete demon.

After placing him inside the pool, she left him for weeks after which she began to feed him demon blood every full moon. Instead of human blood, he needed demon blood as he was a newly turned demon so she made sure to provide him with the blood of willing demons so that way, he may live. As she narrated everything, Alex silently watched her talk and after she was done, he requested clothes as he was naked.

"Can you get me something to wear?" He asked her.

"I will but where are you going to?" She replied and asked him.

"Anywhere but not here," he replied.

"There is something you must know," the girl said to him.

"What?"

"That day you burst your bloodline powers, the only thing that kept you alive was the remnants of it. Now, you have no bloodline power, nothing to stand with," she replied and lowered her head.

"Are you saying that I have become weak?" He asked her.

"Yes. Completely weak that even a low-grade attack can put your life in danger," she replied.

Alex gazed at her for a while before looking elsewhere. He completely and abruptly dispelled the thought of leaving and stepping foot outside though it was what he wanted to do.

"How can I regain my powers?" He asked her with a weak sigh.

"You can't regain your lost powers but you may have the chance of becoming strong again," she replied. Though she tried to sound optimistic, Alex was still able to notice the uncertainty conveyed in her words. Meaning that there was less or no possibility of him regaining his lost powers ever again.

"Don't worry about the possibility, tell me how I can level up again," he requested.

The girl hearing what he said gasped a bit because she didn't know that he would be able to see through her expressions. Nevertheless, she didn't feel bad about it as it wasn't her fault to begin with.

"This is a book on demonic spells. It might help you," she replied and handed him a book.

Alex collected the book and opened the first page. There was a picture of a circle drawn on it with some ancient words written inside the drawing — he could not understand the words at first but after a while, he began to understand what was written there.

"I'll go get the clothes for you," the girl said and turned to leave but was stopped by him.

"What is your name, savior?" He asked her.

"My name is Emilia," she replied and then left to avoid more questions from him.

Alex watched her hurry off and sighed a bit before staring into the book again. Subconsciously, his eyes fell on his body and he could see how much different it was from before the tragedy that occurred. Yes, he could still remember everything vividly and did not forget to remember that there may still be some people who are still after him. As for the liberators... All he had to do for now was to regain his lost powers before taking any action against them but one thing was for sure... Vengeance.

After a while, Emilia returned with one set of clothes.

"Here. This is all I could get for now," she said while dropping the clothes beside the pool.

"You can go," Alex said to her.

"I'll need to help you dress up because your body is still very weak," Emilia replied to him.

Alex was silent regarding what she said. Even though he strongly disagreed with the idea of her helping him dress, he still had no other choice. As she said, he was still very weak and couldn't do anything much on his own, as such, he needed help.

"Come help me out then," he said to her and gave her the book to keep for him. She moved to the water and went inside, it wasn't deep so she could stand just well inside the water. She placed his left arm around her shoulder and helped him out of the water, he tried to stand on his own but his legs failed him, causing him to stumble but with her help, he didn't fall to the ground.

"I told you your body is still very weak, there is nothing you can do about it so don't force it," she coldly said to him. It was obvious that she was angry at Alex for what he did.

"It won't happen again," Alex mumbled in a tired tone and gave up trying to resist her help.

She eyed him for a brief second and then helped him walk to the wall of the cave where she helped him relax his back on it before she went to get his clothes.

Alex silently watched her as she went to get his clothes, though she might not say it out, he was aware of how much it must have been a difficult task to save him and made sure he came back to life. The question now is 'Why did she save him' There must be a reason behind it.
