"Bang!"

A heavy sound shocked everyone present.

It was Li Chunjun wielding his sword, breaking through the encirclement of more than a dozen men from Sanxing Property Company, charging toward the entrance and shutting the door once again.

"Click."

The sound of the door locking echoed.

Li Chunjun turned around, his gaze landing on the remaining eleven people, their faces deathly pale.

Among them was the general manager, Shen Zhengxian.

Just a single look from Li Chunjun made the once-powerful Sanxing Property general manager—who had trained in martial arts but had since grown soft in luxury—turn as pale as a sheet. "L-Little brother, let's talk this out..."

His response was a cold, ruthless sword strike surging toward him.

In desperation, Shen Zhengxian shoved the financial advisor beside him forward and ran upstairs at full speed.

The financial advisor, who usually handled money laundering and personnel arrangements, felt his scalp go numb the moment he was pushed forward.

As he watched the blood-drenched swordsman approach, an unprecedented horror exploded in his already fearful mind.

"Spare me!"

He screamed in terror, but he couldn't control his own body, which had been forced forward. He could only watch helplessly as the chilling sword light pierced through his throat, silencing the words he was about to utter.

"Shing!"

The sword stabbed in and withdrew!

Without even pausing, Li Chunjun moved toward his next target.

Warm blood gushed like a spring from the gaping hole in the man's neck, splattering across the floor.

The financial advisor staggered, his hands trembling as they pressed desperately against the wound, trying with all his strength to stop the blood from spilling.

But no matter how hard he pressed, the blood continued seeping between his fingers.

His strength drained away with the blood, causing him to collapse weakly to the ground, his face deathly pale and drenched in cold sweat.

The sword strike had also severed his windpipe, making it impossible for him to breathe. He could only open his mouth wide, gasping for air.

Yet, as he desperately inhaled, the blood that had no outlet due to his blocked throat caused him to cough violently. Blood gushed from his mouth and nostrils, staining his entire body red.

Cold.

So cold.

But at this moment, no one spared a glance for this once-powerful figure who had controlled the company's finances.

"Run!"

The remaining employees, snapping back to their senses, scattered in all directions.

"Boss Lei Ting as an internal martial artist got killed too! Run!"

"It has nothing to do with me! I only get paid eight thousand a month—I just drive and fill the numbers..."

"Ah! I'll fight you!"

Li Chunjun said nothing.

One sword, one kill.

Every strike aimed at a vital spot.

Throat! Skull! Heart!

If the first strike missed, he followed up with another.

He wasn't fighting—he was killing.

Killing as efficiently as possible.

Some of the braver employees resisted.

But it was useless.

They weren't as strong.

They weren't as fast.

Their weapons weren't as good.

Even their reflexes weren't on the same level.

On top of that, he held the advantage of the terrain.

One sword, one kill.

Like slaughtering pigs and sheep.

Five… Seven… Nine… Eleven… Thirteen…

In less than a minute, Li Chunjun had slaughtered the thirteen men who had barged in as the fourth wave of attackers. The scent of blood on him became even thicker.

Crimson blood soaked the floors, stairs, and bedrooms…

The sight and smell were overwhelming.

Then, he ascended the stairs.

Every window was secured with iron bars.

Once the door had closed, he no longer worried about anyone escaping.

Step by step, leaving a trail of bloody footprints, he reached the rooftop on the second floor.

Shen Zhengxian stood there in terror, staring down.

Two stories.

Less than eight meters.

But the ground was solid concrete—no cushion to break a fall!

Jumping down…

He was afraid. Afraid of dying.

"Stop! Brother Li, we were just following orders! The one who wants you dead is the Jin family's patriarch—Jin Guangming!

Spare me, and I'll give you money! Millions! If I liquidate my assets, I can gather a hundred million! It's all yours!"

Seeing Li Chunjun appear at the rooftop entrance, Shen Zhengxian broke into a cold sweat the size of beans.

"And— I have evidence! Years of records of their dirty dealings and crimes! With this evidence, you can take down the Jin family completely and have them all thrown in prison!"

"…No need."

Li Chunjun spoke briefly: "Once they're inside, it'll be even harder to kill them."

Shen Zhengxian's pupils shrank violently.

At this moment, he understood—Li Chunjun would never let him go.

But...

How could this be possible!?

An eighteen-year-old high school student, someone who supposedly couldn't even kill a chicken, how...

How did he suddenly become like this!?

Why must it come to killing!?

Can't we just sit down and talk things out!?

Seeing Li Chunjun striding towards him, Shen Zhengxian didn't dare gamble on whether he could defeat this monstrous being who had completely lost control.

Turning around, he leaped off the second-floor rooftop.

"Crack!"

The sound of his ankle breaking echoed clearly in the night, followed by a scream.

Years of living in luxury had left him not only fat and out of shape but also robbed him of the agility he once had when he first started out.

Fortunately, his willpower was strong enough.

Paying the price of a broken bone, he escaped from the den of demons, limping frantically toward his car.

But before he could even move a few meters—

"Boom!"

The sound of a heavy object landing resonated beside him.

Turning back, he was utterly horrified.

Li Chunjun had actually followed him, leaping down from the second-floor rooftop as well.

His body crouched slightly to absorb the impact for just a second…

Then, like an unnatural force, he straightened up again, his emotionless eyes locking onto Shen Zhengxian.

With a flick of his arm, he dashed toward him at full speed.

At that moment, Shen Zhengxian felt his soul leave his body.

"Let me go! As long as you spare me, I'll give you anything—money, women, fame…"

He screamed in terror while rushing toward his car at top speed.

The fear of death triggered a massive surge of adrenaline, making him momentarily forget his broken ankle. Incredibly, he reached the car first, yanking open the door and about to throw himself inside.

But at the same time, Li Chunjun, sprinting at full speed, hurled his sword forward.

The blade tore through the car's window glass with a piercing whistle.

Life and death hung by a thread.

Shen Zhengxian's reflexes, pushed to the extreme, made him halt and jerk his head aside just in time. The sword scraped past within three centimeters of his eye, embedding itself deep into the B-pillar on the other side of the vehicle.

Sparks flew.

Before he could even catch his breath from nearly having his head pierced, Li Chunjun was already airborne.

With a flying kick, he slammed into the half-open car door.

"Bang!"

The sheer force, like a massive hammer strike, transferred through the door and crashed into Shen Zhengxian's body, making him scream in agony.

"Ahhh!"

It felt like his waist had snapped!

The next moment, Li Chunjun reached out mid-air, grabbing a shattered shard of window glass—one that happened to be shaped like a long triangle.

With unmatched precision and an impeccable angle, the shard flashed through the broken car window and stabbed straight into Shen Zhengxian's throat.

"Hiss!"

The scream—

Cut off abruptly.

Li Chunjun stepped back.

Shen Zhengxian's face was frozen in pain, his eyes wide open. His body slid off the car door and collapsed onto the ground.

Bright red blood flowed down from the shard lodged in his throat, quickly pooling and staining the concrete.

Li Chunjun watched quietly.

The hand that once trembled while gripping a sword...

At some point, it had stopped shaking.

He stepped forward, grabbed Shen Zhengxian's leg, and dragged him back into the courtyard.

A long trail of blood streaked across the ground, leading all the way to the living room.

Tossing Shen Zhengxian's corpse into the room full of dead bodies, Li Chunjun went upstairs, changed out of his bloodstained clothes, and then washed the blood off his body in the bathroom.

During this time, no guards came.

The Jin family had already taken care of things—no one would come for at least another hour.

Ten minutes later, Li Chunjun entered a storage room beneath the staircase and retrieved a can of gasoline.

He poured it over key areas of the house, drenching it completely.

Then, stepping outside, he shut the door.

Looking up, he gazed at the sky.

The night was growing darker—pitch black, without a single glimmer of light.

Lowering his head, he held the bloodstained clothes, doused them in gasoline, lit them with a lighter, and tossed them onto the ignition point.

"Whoosh."

Under the aid of gasoline, the entire house was quickly engulfed in raging flames.

Li Chunjun watched silently.

The firelight illuminated his face, but it reflected no joy or sorrow, no hatred or resentment.

He watched as the place where he had lived for eighteen years, the place that carried the traces of his life, twisted and contorted in the raging fire.

Everything he was familiar with—his parents, family, childhood, memories—was gradually disappearing in the flames. Soon, it would be reduced to ashes, leaving no trace in this world.

Turning around, Li Chunjun retrieved the sword from the car, wrapped it in his clothes, and took it with him.

He had no driver's license and couldn't drive.

Step by step, he walked along the main road toward the city.

The fire illuminating the sky behind him gradually faded into the distance.

The dim orange glow of the streetlights slowly emerged ahead.

He knew he had reached the city.

As he arrived at the only main road leading in and out of the southern outskirts, he seemed to catch sight of something.

A graceful figure, riding a women's bicycle, was rushing toward the outskirts.

But upon seeing Li Chunjun, she hurriedly stopped.

"Chunjun!"

Li Chunjun looked at her.

Three years as deskmates—Ling Zhi.

"Chunjun, I saw people from Sanxing Property rush out of the Jin family's house and drive straight toward your place. It seemed like they were up to something, so I hurried here to warn you. You…"

"Everything's fine," Li Chunjun said.

"That's good to hear."

Ling Zhi let out a small sigh of relief.

After hesitating for a moment, she finally said, "Chunjun, I heard that Huayue Senior High School in the neighboring city of Mingzhou likes to recruit top students to boost their college entrance exam rankings. To show off their excellent admission rates, they often offer all sorts of benefits—full tuition waivers, scholarships… Also, my family has an apartment there, so you could stay—"

"No need," Li Chunjun interrupted. "If they want to expel me, so be it. It doesn't matter."

"Uh… Chunjun… You already know?"

Ling Zhi's expression turned slightly awkward.

After a moment, she tried to persuade him, "With your grades, any school would fight to have you. The Jin family may dominate Guangzhou City, but they have no influence over the neighboring city. If we can't go up against them, we can just avoid them."

Then, she narrowed her eyes and smiled, adopting a lighthearted tone. "Besides, I remember in our first year, you were full of confidence, saying that all your competitors were just a bunch of NPCs, and no one could stop you from soaring to the top! I believe you can absolutely make that come true!"

"NPC…"

Li Chunjun murmured the abbreviation.

His expression grew dazed, tinged with a sense of emptiness.

If only… they really were NPCs.

NPCs could die and still come back to life.

But after a brief pause, he shook his head lightly. "But it doesn't matter."

He repeated, "It really doesn't matter."

Ling Zhi keenly sensed something was off about him and asked worriedly, "Chunjun, you… seem mentally exhausted. Do you need to rest?"

"No."

Li Chunjun extended his hand, staring at his palm and fingers as if trying to grasp something. Yet, his hands were empty—there was nothing.

"I feel great," he said firmly. "I've never felt better in my entire life."

"Chunjun…"

"Ling Zhi, thank you for coming to warn me."

Li Chunjun looked at her.

Ling Zhi gazed back.

It was an unspoken understanding.

And now…

Perhaps forever…

It would remain unspoken.

After a moment, Li Chunjun looked away. "It's late. You should head back."

"What about you?"

"Me?"

Li Chunjun replied, "I think… I want to see this world properly."

He paused. "Life is the most magnificent miracle of heaven and earth. Yet, it is as fragile as a newborn flower bud, crumbling into dust with the slightest touch. Still, I have always believed that every life is worth respecting."

He lifted his head, gazing into the distance. "All beings are born free, and the world operates by its own rules. So, I want to see more, to hold on to my original heart as an ordinary person, to witness all living things—whether they are truly different, and whether the laws of the world are truly eternal."

"Are you… planning a world tour?"

Ling Zhi's voice trembled slightly.

"No."

Li Chunjun smiled.

"Immortal cultivation."

"Immortal cultivation?"

Ling Zhi's face froze in shock.

Li Chunjun waved at her.

It was a farewell, perhaps an eternal one.

Then, he turned and left.

Under the glow of neon lights, he disappeared into the vast night.

The sufferings of the human world…

He would transcend them—

And become immortal.
