Mabel Quinn glared at the man opposite her. The sleeping man's face no longer bore the hideous and painful look from before, but instead appeared serene, complementing his handsome features, much like an image on a poster.
The man's long black eyelashes cast a shadow on his eyelids as he slept, his straight nose exuding a noble aura, and those sexy, thin lips...
No matter how beautiful or attractive this man was, she didn't want to stay here any longer. The air itself made her feel suffocated.
Mabel Quinn casually grabbed the trench coat beside her and put it on, glancing once more at the man half-lying in the back seat. He was sleeping deeply and still hadn't woken up.
And yet, she didn't even know his name!
Mabel Quinn stumbled out of the car and accidentally kicked her phone, which had fallen outside. She picked it up and left the underground parking lot in a hurry without looking back.
When Mabel Quinn returned to the first floor from the underground parking lot, there was still a security guard patrolling the area. He was shocked when he saw Mabel Quinn. "You... why are you still in the mall? The mall has already been cleared!"
"Cleared?" Mabel Quinn was stunned. She quickly checked the time on her phone. Three hours had passed since she entered the underground parking lot, making it around 10 o'clock now. Normally, the mall closes around this time, but it was bizarre to claim the mall had been "cleared" much earlier.
"Don't say anything, just leave quickly." The security guard hurriedly pulled Mabel Quinn to exit through a side back door, fearing that someone might discover she was still in the mall. If it were found out that they hadn't properly executed the orders of that important figure, it wasn't just their jobs at risk; even their lives might be in question.
Mabel Quinn was practically driven out of the mall. As she left, she glanced back at the heavily guarded mall, feeling incredulous.
Tonight, everything seemed inexplicable.
Mabel Quinn hailed a taxi and returned to school.
Upon entering the dorm room, she saw her roommates Alice Conley and Evelyn discussing the news about the adaptation of the novel "Sound of the Wind" into a TV drama.
"Lyra Grant's novel from the class next door is being adapted into a film, and I heard she'll be writing the screenplay herself. She's really hit it big this time."
"Her future is wide open now. In a few years, she might become a famous screenwriter. Among our cohort, she's the most successful so far."
"Exactly, her book 'Sound of the Wind' was the first one she wrote back in high school. Look at her, then look at us. We still have no idea how long it'll take for us after graduation to make a name for ourselves."
"Oh, Mabel, you're back." Alice Conley, Mabel Quinn's closest friend, greeted her.
"Yeah," Mabel replied, watching the video where Lyra Grant, looking radiant and in a pink gown with exquisite makeup, was being interviewed by reporters. Yet Mabel was fully aware of the other side behind that smiling face.
Alice Conley and Evelyn were envious of Lyra Grant, but who knew that Lyra's book was nothing but a plagiarized work!
