Chapter 6 - The Belladonna

But it could not be helped, she had to continue with that life of hers ... She had to enjoy it to her fullest! After all, it's not everyone that gets a blessing from their ancestors.

She heard a weird noise from the outside environment as the dark, void-like space started to disappear from front of her eyes.

She witnessed the place where they had spent the night but didn't pay much attention to it ...----- that wild yet calm place with the still swaying grasses like the notes of a song.

But, then she noticed something wrong with Mielle; she was in trouble, mumbling something to herself.

Mielle's pale expression reminded Arabella of herself. It was almost the same expression that she had in that platonic dream.

Arabella hesitantly moved her feet forward towards her. With shaky hands, she called on to Mielle, "Are you ok, Mielle?".

Mielle's eyes filled with deep sorrow, making Arabella feel as if she was gazing at herself in front of a mirror, " I must have looked lifeless too at that moment. ", she chuckled to herself, trying to laugh all her agony out.

But she wondered what had happened to Mielle for her to act so passively.

While Arabella thought about that continuously...Mielle became aware of the fact that Arabella was trying to console her, although she wasn't actually doing that, Mielle's expression started to change, and her cheeks regained their colors, followed by a subtle, gentle smile indicating she was ok.

"But why were you so lifeless earlier?", questioned Arabella with sympathetic eyes trying to observe herself in Mielle.

"Why do you think I was like that?" Mielle's aide tried to acknowledge the opinion of herself from Arabella's views.

Arabella grew silent. Her eyes were acting as if they'd known the answer forever, but she was not sure about it.

A gaze trying to convey a familiar relation with her when she actually had no idea whosoever Mielle was.

With all these in her mind, she spoke briefly--" Because of that incident".

Mielle lowered her gaze onto that angelic and countrysidvibes-typepe place affirming the words of Arabella, followed by a soft yes that came out from her so-dried throat.

"I want to run and dance like a ballerina, a swan, a flamingo, I want to do so many things."

Mielle exclaimed with regrets on how if she was given the chance she was willing to do so much and she'd actually work so hard on herself but now it seemed like just an empty abbreviation coming out from the mouth of the one who wanted to see the world while being blind.

The despair was more than just clear on her face. Arabella instantly looked at those never-ending meadows and saw some cotton-like thing. "Mielle, look! What's that!", acclaimed Arabella.

Mielle impulsively looked there and saw those soft pink cotton-like peonies wavering gently with the wind trying to accompany them.

The scene looked so magical as if it had come straight out of a fairy tale.

Soon, the dark meadows were filled the red light fading into orange, looking like a land-sky horizon. It was truly a moment to behold.

Both the sisters, who suffered from their own agonies, were mesmerized by the beauty of nature. Maybe that's why they always tell us to go outside and touch some grass.

As the sun rose, Arabella helped Mielle to get on the carriage, and they both went ahead for their way towards the Bretz, the countryside where they were initially heading.

Oh... merrily, the sadness will end.

With you and me ~

Oh... how I am a fool in front of you but I feel me as long it's with you~

Oh... gaily, the pain shall fade...

With you and me~

They sang in unison while continuing their way to the village. A secret rendezvous between the sisters, I must confess.

Soon, they arrived at Bretz, the land of peonies, where there was farming and fun, with no control of the power of the empire. It was a princely state of its own under the control of the farmers, peasants, and commoners themselves.

They arrived at their cottage, nestled between the woodland, enveloped in the vintage red paint that looked like the house of fairies, to be accurate, a fruit fairy.

There were tons of trees and different varieties of plants and herbs around the cottage giving it a warm look... There also seemed to be a small farming land where the sunflowers were sown, but unfortunately, it wasn't the month for them to spread their faces out.

"The nearby belladonna flower looks like a fairy skirt.", exclaimed Mielle joyfully with a childish act in her tone.

Arabella accompanied her by doing the same. She plucked the belladonna, placed it on Mielle's finger, and told her that it looked like a cute little dress on her finger.

They both giggled and went towards the inside of the cottage to have some rest.

The inside was very unexpected; it looked so old and ancient from the outside, yet the inside of the cottage looked as if it was one of the rooms out of the Marchioness mansion.

Arabella asked Peter, the caretaker of that place, why the interior was so different.

Peter told her that she had already guessed it; it was actually similar to one of the rooms from the Marchioness mansion,n, as it was made for her when she fell into depression after the death of her infant.

"But, I wonder how you know that? No one has ever been to the Marchioness... Are you perhaps a close friend of hers?", Peter asked amusingly.

Now, who was going to tell him that Arabella was the one who actually murdered the Marchioness's infant because it was going to bring doom to her family? Arabella, as in her elf self, was helped by the Marchioness several times. It was almost like a backstab to her dear friend.

Back in Arabella's elf years, she had met Marchioness Aurienbergie when she was strolling past the lavender field...
