Billie.
"Your boss is a cartoon, I swear." Riana wheezed through her laughter.
"You have no idea. He's so annoying, but at least he paid me for the whole week plus a two-million bonus."
Her laughter stopped instantly. "Two million? Girl, that man is generous—but I still can't believe you were working for Lexus Knight. You're lucky you escaped alive. He's not exactly known for his kindness."
I threw a shirt into my suitcase. "Good thing I'll be out of this town soon. So honestly? I don't care about Lexus the night owl."
Riana cackled. "The night owl? That's a new one."
I smirked. "For a gothic girl like you, it's probably cute, huh?"
She grinned, kicking her boots onto my bed. "Maybe a little."
Riana and I have been best friends since high school. We even went to the same college, graduated together, and now we're both broke together—true sisterhood. She's like my long-lost twin, except she looks like a hot vampire bassist, and I look like… well, me.
