Chapter 58 - 58

Chapter 58: A Feebas with No Looks or Power? Still Worth Raising! (Please Follow!)

[I honestly thought the streamer made up that name.]

[This Feebas is so ugly it's unique—it looks way too human-like, seriously unsettling.]

[I heard the uglier the Feebas, the tastier it is.]

"Streamer, can I catch it?"

Hearing that it was just a normal Fish Pokémon—and especially seeing the chat say it was edible—the fisherman was itching to act.

"You can catch it, but…"

Before Ye Yinchuan could finish his sentence, the fisherman had already set his phone aside and began creeping toward the Feebas.

Then—

SPLASH!

The fisherman leaped into the water.

A chaotic struggle followed, and soon—both he and the Feebas disappeared beneath the surface.

[Oh no, was it actually a bait fish?!]

[RIP. May the afterlife be Feebas-free.]

A second later, a huge splash—

The Feebas leaped into the air—and beneath it, the fisherman got slapped across the face by its tail.

The scene was hilarious.

With the Feebas now in full view, people finally got a clear look at it.

It was indeed ugly—but now that they could see it properly, it wasn't that terrifying.

After all, fear comes from the unknown.

People's imagination had made the Feebas seem far worse than it actually was.

Ye Yinchuan took the chance to closely examine it.

Feebas's muddy brown body gave it an almost human-skin-like tone in the water. It had hollowed-out eyes, a permanently vacant stare, a rough, pockmarked body, and a thick, pink, sausage-like mouth that drooped downward.

No wonder, in the dim water, it had been mistaken for a rotting human face.

Its fins and tail were tattered and bluish-gray, and its dorsal fin stuck up like a tiny handle—one of its only notable features.

"Damn, it really is ugly. But I've heard the uglier the Feebas, the more stunning its Milotic evolution will be. No idea if that's true, though."

Eventually, the fisherman caught the Feebas.

Despite Pokémon being supernatural creatures, this Feebas only knew Splash, making it completely helpless.

"Is this what D-rank base stats look like? It's level 13 and still got caught barehanded. Or maybe this guy has trained before—absorbing some Pokémon energy on the side?"

Ye Yinchuan suspected that the fisherman had another Pokémon besides his Sentret.

[Ew, get that ugly thing away!]

[Strangely cute in a pathetic way.]

[This might be the ugliest Feebas in existence!]

Chat roasted the Feebas mercilessly.

"Streamer, do you think it'll taste good? It doesn't look very appetizing—just kind of pitiful."

The fisherman stuffed the Feebas into his basket, feeling satisfied with the day's haul.

"You're really going to eat it? This Feebas actually has decent potential—you could keep it."

[Does "decent potential" mean "especially ugly"?]

[Wait, can you actually evolve a Feebas?]

"Nah, streamer. What's the point of keeping it? Like the chat says, can it even evolve? If I kept it at home, it'd just make me uncomfortable. I'll take it back and cook it up instead."

Ye Yinchuan's mind started racing.

In this world, Feebas were considered rare.

And people didn't seem to know it could evolve into Milotic…

"What if I told you it can evolve? And that when it does, it becomes one of the most elegant Pokémon ever?"

The fisherman laughed.

"Streamer, you know a lot, but I don't believe that for a second. This isn't like Magikarp—it's not some one-in-a-million case where it might evolve into Gyarados after an insane struggle."

Hearing that, Ye Yinchuan almost chuckled.

Feebas really was meant to be Magikarp's counterpart.

But the fisherman's words also revealed something interesting—

At least people in this world knew Magikarp could evolve into Gyarados, even if they thought the conditions were extremely difficult.

[Fun fact: The streamer has never been proven wrong so far.]

[Wait, Feebas actually evolves?!]

[Is the streamer about to flex his "research institute friends" again?]

[Catching it barehanded—this thing really is weak!]

Ye Yinchuan hesitated before choosing to stay silent.

After all, he himself wasn't sure about Feebas's evolution method in this world.

No point in pushing people to raise one for no reason.

"Streamer, I'm actually a fan of yours. If you like this Feebas, I'll give it to you for free. I caught plenty of fish today anyway. If not for you, I wouldn't have dared to grab it in the first place!"

[LOL, even if it's free, I wouldn't take it!]

[Streamer, don't just talk big—take the Feebas if you're so confident!]

Ye Yinchuan paused.

He hadn't expected this guy to offer it as a gift.

"Raising a Feebas, huh…"

He genuinely considered it.

If this were before, back when he and his Munchlax could barely afford food, he would've rejected it without a second thought.

But now—

His recent streams had brought in decent money.

And compared to Munchlax, keeping a Feebas seemed way cheaper.

"Alright, I'll take it. I'll pay for the live transport. Also, I won't just take your Pokémon for free—I'll send you some mantou in return."

Because he just loves Pokémon.

If he wants it, he takes it. Simple as that.

[Streamer, that sounds so broke—why are you giving him mantou?]

[You idiot, mantou means money!]

"Wait, for real?"

The fisherman looked stunned.

He expected Ye Yinchuan to refuse—or at least not offer a reward.

"Of course. I wouldn't joke about my credibility. But don't regret it later when you see this Feebas evolve."

"Hah! No way I'd regret it. If Feebas really evolves, that's not on me—that just means you had the eye and skill to make it happen."

[Dude is so chill about this. Respect.]

[Why am I actually excited now? Will the streamer really raise a Feebas?]

[Guess I better hit follow just in case!]

Seeing the chat's reaction, Ye Yinchuan had a realization.

Raising a Feebas and evolving it could make a great long-term stream project.

Something unique.

Something with dramatic payoff.

At first, he hadn't thought about it much.

But now? His mind was buzzing with ideas.

"Alright, folks—if you wanna see Feebas evolve, hit that follow button! Once I receive it, I'll keep it in the background—maybe one day, it'll surprise us all!"

Ye Yinchuan gestured toward an empty spot on his wall.

His place wasn't huge—but raising one Feebas was no problem.

"Alright, streamer, I gotta go dry off and send you this fish."

"No problem. I'll DM you later!"

With that, Ye Yinchuan ended the call and checked the time.

"Alright, folks—I need a break and some food. See you at 7 PM!"

He logged off, stretched, and turned to Munchlax.

Ruffling its large rabbit-like ears, he grinned.

"New family member incoming—get ready, buddy."

"Munch?!"

Munchlax's eyes sparkled.

It excitedly waved its arms—ready to welcome its new friend.
