In the end, I decided against taking Mary with me, the last thing she needed right now was to be left alone for who knows how long in a place she wouldn't feel safe in, so I waited for her the fall asleep, made Ivy turn into a teddy bear to comfort her while she was asleep and warn me in case of an emergency, and headed for my next destination.
The Notre Dame catacombs, if there weren't enough dead bodies there, I don't know where I am supposed to look.
Opening a portal, I walked through it without any worry, even with the time difference it was still deep into the night in Paris, and the catacombs were close to any spectator, and I was quite sure that no guards would go inside the catacombs in the middle of the night just because they heard a sound, this is not a horror movie.
I had to cover my nose for a second; the stench of mould and old bones was overwhelming.
Shaking my head, I concentrated back on the task I needed to accomplish. The absence of any light was perfect, helping me concentrate on only the colours that were created by my Mana Eyes.
Starting to meditate I saw the deep red that was emanating from all the bodies, there also was a very dark mana around all the bodies, I was aware of what type of mana that was so I ignored it with all of my willpower, Death Mana is not something I can control without risking my life, and is not something I wish to be able to manipulate, for now at least.
Concentrating on the deep red mana I felt it pulsating like a human heart it had a rhythm, and all the mana inside here followed it, it produced no sound, but my heart still heard it, death was something that made everyone equal, the mere fact that the mana all followed the same rhythm was a proof of it.
In death, there was no money, no power, no fame, there was just your dead body, your decaying meat, your drying blood, the maggots eating what is left of you, but even after all of this, the mana that composed your body, the mana that made your heartbeat, your muscles move, your organs work, it still exists, and it simply goes back to become one big organ, the heart of this world, which will never stop beating even after humans stop existing.
The mana slowly crept towards my body, it felt cold and warm at the same time, its pulse slowly making mine change to accommodate it, my heart became part of this organ, it became one with the mana, my muscles welcomed it, my organs breamed with happiness at finally becoming part of it, visible changes were happening to my body.
My closed eyes turned red like the mana, my hair gained a red hue, my nails and teeth became sharper, my muscles grew to welcome more and more mana, my bones elongated, my body became taller, my nerves became closer and closer, my organs working overtime to welcome all of these changes.
My control was being overwhelmed, If the previous Mana types had been difficult to understand, this one was being difficult to control. The mere fact that someone who was nothing more than a product of its existence was trying to take control over it angered it.
It was at this moment that Papa Bear took effect. I felt my willpower turn into an endless wall, protecting my mind and body from any further change. This was for Mary, not for me.
My body lost most of its changes, the only remains ones were the eyes, the hair, and the nails and teeth, which would remain until I manipulated blood mana.
The previous cold feeling that came from touching blood mana slowly disappeared, leaving behind only the warm feeling., It slowly crept towards my heart, and the usual process of gaining a new tattoo started like before.
When I felt it was done, I noticed the presence of the deep red mana inside my mana pool.

Moving my body around I felt everything, I had gained a previously unperceivable control over my body, I felt how my blood moved inside my veins, how my heart beat with the same rhythm of this world, I could produce Adrenalin to make my muscles work overtime, I could make my mind sharper and body weaker, or the other way around by controlling the amount of oxygen that goes to it, I had become a new being, a being that has full control.
Opening the portal to a sunny area I took my mirror out and took a look at my new tattoo, placed right above my heart and next to my Nature's tattoo, it had the same colour as the mana, and it resembled the runes I had seen into the book that spoke about this type of magic.
'It means Heart, quite fitting.' I thought while closing the portal.
Just when I was about to port another one, my senses screamed at me to dodge. Instead of doing so, I opened a portal above me and one against a nearby wall.
A mass of pure stone fell on top of my head, going inside the portal and smashing right through the walls of the catacombs, making the ground tremble because of the strength behind the hit.
I recognized the being, it was The Thing, one of the Fantastic 4, the person that I didn't recognize was the almost naked woman who had just jumped from god knows where while I was shirtless, I'd also like to make it clear that she is the one with the bigger sword, literally.
